Wonderful, quiet location with beautiful views - really to "let your soul dangle". Only 15 minutes by car from Lucca or the picturesque little village on the mountain: Montecarlo. Beautiful bike rides possible in the hilly surroundings. A family business with three generations. Very friendly, accommodating, helpful. The good soul of the facility, Elisa, speaks English, French and some German. The apartments are cleaned daily, daily fresh towels also bath towels for the pool. The rich breakfast, if desired, is served a la carte for only € 10,-/person, children free, at the tables on the terrace in front of the apartments. There is also a Michelin-rated restaurant on the premises, and a good Osteria in an olive grove is reachable in 5 minutes on foot.

Relais del Lago is a charming, family-run country hotel with gorgeous views over the Tuscan countryside. It’s only a short drive from Lucca but feels a world away from the tourist hustle and bustle. (It’s also only 40 minutes from Pisa airport.) The swimming pool is as enticing as it appears in the photos and the grounds are full of birdlife. We stayed in the spa suite which has its own sauna and jacuzzi, and a terrace overlooking the pool. We had a late flight so the owners let us use another room for a very reasonable day rate. There’s a very good Japanese/Italian restaurant on site. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.

The Relais del Lago impresses with its fantastic location, friendly hosts, great grounds and good breakfast. Unfortunately, mold, stale water and lack of ventilation is a real problem.
Location: The plot is located northeast of Lucca, far from the actual civilization on a hillside plot. The view of the surrounding area is fantastic. The building is once again beautifully decorated. Parking free of charge.
Areal: A very nice and well-kept area, which borders directly on a lake and is surrounded by trees. In addition to a very nice terrace there is a really nice pool area from which you can also enjoy the view.
Employees: The owners are super friendly all around. The check-in was very leisurely and all things were explained.
Rooms: Due to overbooking we have received a free upgrade to the 'Spa Suite'. This is a detached, small cottage by the pool. This upgrade was super nice and surprised us a lot. The cottage is overgrown with grapes and other plants and, despite the location, offers a lot of privacy. The furnishing is multicolored. In addition to a larger room, which includes a round bed, chairs and a table, there is another room with sauna and jacuzzi and a bathroom. That's exactly the problem. The entire cottage smells damp and muddy. On the door frames you will find rust and mould everywhere. The room with sauna and whirlpool smells the same and there is mold on the ceiling. Also in the bathroom many joints are full of mold and has not been properly cleaned for some time. Unfortunately, neither the bathroom nor the "spa" room can be ventilated. In addition, the water of the whirlpool has probably not experienced a change for some time and therefore smelled very unpleasant. The mattress of the round bed has very many indefinable stains. Really a pity about such an actually great accommodation.
Breakfast: Breakfast is served on the terrace at the table - a la carte. There are plenty of choices to choose from. Overall very down to earth and good.
An accommodation in absolutely beautiful location and with lots of peace, good breakfast, great hosts; but unfortunately really need renovation and unhygienic room.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Relais del Lago. Don't expect luxurious rooms, but the rooms were fine. An area for improvement would be the beds. These were very hard, which is not nice if you have back problems.
Furthermore, it is intense enjoyment in peace and quiet. No towel racks at the pool and always a spot. For lunch and dinner you can use the adjacent restaurant.
There are only 11 rooms and there is a really personal atmosphere. The owner runs the B&B with her family and has also made a lot of effort to put a gluten- and lactose-free breakfast on the table for me. Breakfast is à la carte, so you don't have to deal with a buffet. Delicious!

Arrive wonderfully at this B&B. Extremely friendly owner. You can ask her for a lot of tips. Helpful through and through. There is a refrigerator in the common area where you can choose drinks. The swimming pool is large enough and there are plenty of sunbeds in the garden. You have breakfast under a pergola. You indicate on a list what you want to eat and then the family brings it to you. The room and bathroom are very neat. Have I already mentioned how cozy and friendly people are there? You can have dinner in the restaurant next to the B&B or in another lovely restaurant, a 3-minute walk away.

A warm welcome from this family run Albergo. A lovely local, family run relais, with an excellent pool and lovely walks around the nearby lake.
Dinner in the nearby restaurant Serendipico was good although the chef, Masaki Kuroda was away at his new restaurant in Lucca, but it didn't compare to the meal we had the previous year. It made for an excellent short break.

We stayed here recently with our 10 week old baby. We were really appreciative of how kind and flexible the owners were. Eg providing a lovely travel cot which their children had used and letting us have dinner from the incredible restaurant close to the room as our monitor did not work through the 16th c stone walls. The food was sublime and clearly there is a lot of passion about what the family do. It was perfectly located for visits to the local vinyards, villages and villas and stunning Lucca. The place has a gorgeous aspect over the hills and a great relaxed vibe. Thanks!

We stayed 5 night at Relais Del Lago in July and loved it. We were a family of 5 in an apartment and another couple in one of the rooms. We loved the relaxed feel, the pool and location close to Lucca and other attractions, but also being out in the countryside which was lovely to come back to The pool was a hit with our family, the breakfast was great and high quality and the owners always smiling - they work very hard to keep Relais a great place for their guests. We tried the on site restaurant and had a great time, lovely food and service. Would definitely go back and recommend Relais Del Lago.
