We nearly had the estate to ourselves with our group of 12 women, and we very much enjoyed the personal attention and care from Elisa and Alessandro (and their kids and parents). They were all delightful and made the stay to so charming and comfortable. The renovation of the once-crumbling building is unbelievable, and although it's been completely restored and updated, it still maintains its old-world charm. It's a bit secluded but parking is ample if you have a car. There are 3-4 dining options nearby if you're on foot. A cab into Lucca is Euros 30+. The adjacent restaurant is higher-end Japanese fusion - beautiful AND tasty. The trattoria up the road is a wonderful family-run place with excellent local cuisine. We were there in late Feb., so didn't try the pool. But the grounds were beautiful and there were many places to walk and explore. I'd love to come back in the summer months. And I would definitely stay here again.…
Stayed here for a few days and I’ve got to say it’s one of the best places we’ve stayed (we are quite well travelled). Wonderful hospitality, beautiful surroundings, excellent location and the most gorgeous property. I had high expectations of Tuscany and I wasn’t disappointed, to stay in such a fantastic accommodation (with pool!) was perfect. I highly recommend this place and hope to return in the future.
We stayed 4 nights as part of a Watercolour-painting course, this is a peaceful hotel in the countryside, convenient location for visiting Florence, Lucca, etc.. It's run by a 3-generation family, friendly welcome and warm hospitality. Terrasse with lovely view and large ground with swimming-pool. Our room was on the 2nd floor, large, clean, nice and comfortable, space for clothes, safebox, small fridge. Large and clean bathroom. WIFI worked perfectly. Good parking places. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choices, to be enjoyed inside or on the terrace. Excellent restaurant 'Serendipico' next door. We would love to return.
Relais del Lago is set in wonderful countryside not far from Lucca and convenient for Pisa and Florence. We've just returned and can't praise the hospitality of the family highly enough. We found the comfort and relaxed atmosphere of the place an ideal base for exploring the Tuscan countryside and there are plenty of good restaurants in the area. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the terrace with lovely views and the foods to choose from are fresh and plentiful.
What a wonderfully peaceful and tranquil place to stay. This small hotel us run by a very friendly and helpful three generations of one family. It has all the necessary facilities that are required with a very nice pool area, extensive grounds, plenty of parking space and a wonderful breakfast spread each morning. Drinks via an honesty bar are available throughout the day. Rooms are well kept with a nice little fridge in the corner. Location is good for many places either by road or via train if you drive to the station, we used Lucca. All in all a very enjoyable stay and would certainly return if ever coming back to Tuscany again.
A wonderful place to escape to. Relaxed and informal, a warm welcome awaits. The converted farm house provides the perfect Tuscan escape. Our room was spacious with a large comfortable bed and wonderful views, the air conditioning and fridge worked perfectly. Breakfast was tasty although the pastries very similar each day. Sat outside under the vines was a perfect way to start the day. Whilst no lunch is provided and is only available some days at the restaurant next door if you want to fix your own, no one seems to worry, they even offered the key to the boathouse so that one group could sit beside the lake and eat their own food one evening. Honesty bar works well, beer was very good value, local wines (from 100 metres away) were okay but have had better. Restaurants next door and just up the road both worth visiting (see my other reviews). The pool is clean, there are plenty of sunbeds for all the guests and the views are wonderful. Excellent value. Thank you for a 6 wonderful nights.…
We stayed here at the end of a busy two week trip travelling around Tuscany. it was the perfect end to our trip. The location was perfect and we loved the house and its relaxing ambience. The restaurant next door is fantastic and an added bonus.
Stayed for 2 nights here. It is impossible not to relax. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Rooms are excellent and modern. The pool is great. The views from the terrace are breathtaking. There is a restaurant attached which is superb with a really varied and interesting menu. Sitting outside for dinner, watching the sun go down was unforgettable. If you want more traditional Italian food there is an excellent restaurant 5 minutes walk up the hill. Thoroughly recommended.
Our second time visiting this wonderful place. Family run 15 minutes from lucca, lovely pool and grounds, lovely rooms and the owners are wonderful. Try the panetteria just down the road, the bread and cakes are outstanding. We drove in to Lucca every night for dinner. They have a restaurant but we didn't try it as we are not fish lovers and the menu is mainly fish orientated but the restaurant is very popular with the locals. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This is a marvellous typical Italian agrarian building, renewed with high quality standard. I had a weekend with my boyfriend and we had the SPA room. The room was really nice, with a relaxing view. We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and fresh fruits, and one day we could also choose to have our breakfast served in the room for free. The SPA was little, but there were all the basic: jacuzzi and sauna. We were not sure if the water was changed before our arrival (we hope so! and hope it was changed after our departure, of course). The SPA was little, but there were all the basic: jacuzzi and sauna. We were not sure if the water was changed before our arrival (we hope so! and hope it was changed after our departure, of course). BUT: the staff, even if kind, was a bit in a hurry when serving our breakfast, and breakfast itself could definitely be improved with fresh milk instead of the poor-tasting UHT; the shower of the SPA room is not working properly; despite the air conditioner, there is too much humidity and chlorine in the entire room and you cannot breath well in the night (especially if suffering for asthma). Ps. Really really really Exceptional restaurant (owned by a couple of young, talented italian and japanese guys!)…
