Amongst the 200 different whiskies there is some amazing discoveries to make And the breakfast is perfect if you had one too many of Glenfarclas 21 years old. The bedrooms are big enough, so are the bathrooms and the plumbing works fine. We simply loved it.

Booked through the Wowcher deal and am happy to say that this is magnificent value for 3 nights with breakfast. Hotel is a Victorian gem that slowly but surely is being brought back to life. The bar is superb having real ale for us sassenachs as well as around 209 whisked. Rooms are excellent given the age of the building...

So far so good. Room is spacious and clean, only downside is that the bathroom is very small. and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Hubby is in heaven as there are 215 different whiskies behind the bar!! I myself am enjoying the local gin. The food is beautiful and very plentiful. Had a wonderful time here, would highly...

Dropped in for a quick drink one evening in the bar of this hotel, which is located in the centre of the village. It looks a bit 'tired' but drinks were reasonably priced. Staff were pleasant, although not particularly welcoming or chatty. The range of whiskies on offer is impressive, but that is quite common in this distillery-laden part of...

Ours was a fleeting overnight visit to see a friend who was staying here whilst waiting to move permanently into the area. The staff were wonderful, extremely attentive and helpful. The location is spot on and accessible to everything around here. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable and the food served for evening dinner was a lovely surprise....

Booked and checked in efficiently. Again it was plain sailing 7+ hours from the Scotish border all the way into Tomintoul. Sadly this year we missed ALL the snow. We stayed in our usual room, room 3. Quite a few cosmetic changes have taken place and they are very nice but what really needs mention is the menu and cooking....

A great place to act as a base for visits to local distilleries. Excellent service, food, and a great selection of whiskies behind the bar! The staff are very friendly and helpful with local knowledge of places to visit.

We Came to find out about the Rlchmond via a Groupon deal. We stayed 3 nights and would have stayed longer if we could have. A great place, clean and smart. Lovely staff who couldn't do enough for you. Bar food tasty and a well kept pint. Our room was large with a superb bed. This place for the price...

I planned to stay here 1 night whilst working nearby. Ended up going back a second night for various reasons, so I can review 2 separate rooms :-) The first night I ate in the bar. Lovely sausage casserole with rice, and a tremendous pint of Best to wash it down. A nice warm fire, and chatty friendly staff. The...

Booked the hotel on a special deal, couldn't believe how cheap it was, so was expecting to get bit on the bum at some stage. This never happened. The owners have done, and are still doing, a lot of work to this lovely old building. Our room was at the top and was the biggest room I have ever stayed...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Originally built as a fishing lodge in 1898, the Richmond Arms has had a long history, but has remained a firm favorite of the fishing enthusiast. The Hotel has been empty for the last 3 years, but is now under new management and is a family run business. Due to neglect by previous owners, it has taken 6 months of hard work to get it back open again, and to meet current fire and safety legislation. We offer bed and breakfast for residence, along with bar meals in the evening, which can be eaten in the bars, or the dining room. We can cater for children from birth upwards, and have a number of family rooms. Pets are more than welcome to stay.We have specially designed rooms for the disabled or the elderly.By the end of the year we hope to have attained our Visit Scotland 3 star rating.Tomintoul is the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland, and is situated close to the Lecht Ski centre, and is on both the whisky and castle trails in this part of Scotland. With the opening of the new mountain bike trails in the area, we will be providing secure storage facilities for bikes. ... more   less
