So many things could be disregarded by saying that's Cuba. But when you pay a decent price and more for an upgrade that didn't exist, it is very difficult to let things go. I went with a group of 6 of us, three rooms. This was my first time in Cuba and I spoke with many people who had been;...

We visited this resort as part of our day out while staying at Melia Jardines del Rey. We had lunch and sat on the beach for a while. Food was the same as the Jardines del Rey. Resort is older, but much smaller, with only 350 rooms. The resort seemed quiet. Beach was close to lobby and buffet. The grounds...

I stayed in this hotel with a group of friends towards the end of a trip around the island. Overall, we had a relaxing time despite the fact that parts of the place are quite worn and in need of repair. The Guillermo beach is beautiful and we found interesting activities not far away from the hotel, such as the...

My comments are based on an absolute scale and on years of experience in the hospitality industry. Beach: not as illustrated. Lots of kelp and leaves and vegetation in the sand. A bulldozer comes by and moves the "dirty" sand into piles on the beach. Never saw them taken away. Water in the ocean is cold this time of year;...

Six months after our firt time at Melia's cayo guillermo Hotel, we came back. We were three, my husband, myself and our five year's old little girl. The hotel is still in pretty bad shape, but the staff is incredible. It's those people that make the place!. The food is good, the grounds are beautifull and well kept, the beds...

Hello MEveRomy!!! Thank you for your comment. We are sad that the beach did not look nice to you !! It is true that we had to do it with the use of machines, but I assure you that it was for an environmental reason, the old beach was less than 5 meters at low tide, and when the tide...

Was at this resort Dec 3-10th, and had a great time. Room was beautifull, had gorgeous towel art every day (doesn't hurt to bring the maid something along). Wanted 2nd floor, got 3rd, but what a view, and by the second day, the steps weren't a problem. First day was very somber, due to Castro's death, country in mourning for...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Meliá Cayo Guillermo is located one of the most beautiful and white-sandy beaches with more than 1300 palm trees, and swept by very transparent waters. The area was an inspiration for Ernest Hemingway, and fishing the great blue river, always on his Pilar Yacht, he created part of his work. The hotel is perfect for couples and families but also for diving, fishing. We also organize the wedding of your dreams in this paradise. ... more   less
