Great value, an amazing host, with added extras the use of a barbecue a well fitted guest kitchen and lovely lounge all immaculate and spotlessly clean we would truly recommend the nunnery. Whilst staying I would recommend the rail trail then afterwards use the thermal spa in the town 😁🇳🇿

Lovely room, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the decor was lovely. Very close to Main Street, walking distance to shops, cafes and restaurants. The lovely owner was a pleasure to deal with.

My partner and I wanted acomfortable room close to the Main Street and the domain. We got that and so much more. Our two night stay was just what we wanted clean comfortable rooms and communal areas. Great value for money and the heatpumps were great on the very cold winters nights.

Our family of 10 adults and 4 under 5's stayed at The Nunnery for a weekend. Our hostess Denise was wonderful, and the accommodation was excellent. The rooms were all spotless, the beds very comfortable, quality linen throughout. Denise was very helpful and even let the family watch the Super rugby final with her in her lounge. If you are...

We stayed here for two nights to visit the Hobbit movie set. We consider the Nunnery a wonderful find, not the usual motel with only one small self contained studio (which we had) plus several rooms with I understand shared facilities. Our studio was beautifully fitted with lovely curtains bedcover and towels plus a very comfortable bed, great free internet...

We made our stop in Te Aroha just to break a journey. We heard about this place from the I center. Turned out to bea great place to stay. It is quiet and of the main road and it has a range of options from rooms with shared facilities to a self contained studio unit. We chose the latter and...

Feels brand new and superbly constructed. The garden is amazing with grapefruit and lemon trees and a vast lawn. I had #5, with a hand basin and dressing gown! First place I've found with a bike rack! There's a number of eating places around town and I had fish and chips ($7) at the Chinese place!! Good value!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Nunnery is a new guest accommodation alternative in Te Aroha. Te Aroha is becoming a popular tourist destination due mainly to its mineral spa pools, bush walks and mountain bike tracks. The Nunnery is within easy walking distance to the tourist attractions, shops, restaurants, hotels and clubs. It is a brick building built in 1977 to house The Sisters of Mercy. Present owners, local people Paul Herbert and Denise Andersen, bought it in 2008 and in November 2009 it was opened for guest accommodation. We have one semi-detached studio unit which is proving very popular. With Air-conditioning, en-suite, flat screen television, toast, tea & coffee making facilities, fridge/freezer. In the main accommodation wing we have 3 double and 2 single bedrooms. These bedrooms have wash basins and heat pumps and have access to a guest lounge, kitchenette and deck. Full Breakfast or Continental available on request. The Nunnery also has ample off street parking and boasts spacious grounds. ... more   less
