Detailed Reviews
TUI cancelled our holiday to Kefalonia with about two weeks notice and they did us a favour. We really wanted to go away so we changed our destination to Rhodes and stayed at Island Blue. It was just what we wanted. The accommodation was kept spotless and all of the staff from the cleaners, receptionist and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. There are a number of good quiet restaurants within walking distance and away from the main part of Pefkos which is a bit noisier. The breakfast is very good and the Covid precautions are very well handled. The other good thing about the location is that the beach is only a few minutes walk away with two sunbeds and shade at 12 euros. Lindos is worth a visit and costs nine euros to get there, we went during the day and it was busy, it might be better at night when the clifftop acropolis is lit up. We would certainly like to return to this hotel again.

We have stayed at the Island Blue for the past 4 years and the reason is that we love not only Pefkos but this lovely hotel and its friendly, hard working staff. Unfortunately we are staying an an alternative hotel this year as we found when we stayed in September that the standards had slipped.
The majority of the sunbeds around the pool were broken, even the extra ones brought over and stacked for use were in a bad way. Nothing worse than laying down to read a book and finding yourself hurtling downwards because your bed is broken, good job I didn't have a hot drink in my hand on the many occasions when this happened.
The rooms have previously been cleaned to a very high standard, however on our last visit the room was not cleaned very well and we had tears in the sheet.
Also, the last couple of years we have noticed that people are being allowed to bring their own cans of beer around the pool area and getting a bit rowdy, this was not allowed in previous years as I have witnessed being dealt with very politely.
Please Island Blue, we love this hotel and would love to come back, but feel that you need to address these few concerns.
However, as much as there were these few issues, we think of this hotel and resort as our little piece of heaven and would definitely stay again next year if these few issues are fixed.

Dear Guests Thank you for taking the time to write your review of your stay with us here at the Island Blue hotel. I am happy to hear that you chose us for your 4th stay here in Pefkos. Its always a pleasure to be able to welcome you back. Thank you for all your comments which are very much appreciated and will be fed back to the staff also. they are always happy to be part of making your holiday memories. Thank you also for your feedback which is disappointing to hear and will of course be actioned. We pride our hotels on all having a high standard of cleanliness and service. It is not hotel policy to allow guests to bring their own drinks to the pool, by Greek tax law this is not allowed. we do try to monitor this as best we can but not always possible to 'police' everyone, and we would also hope that guests are respectful of the rules themselves also. we always appreciate if guests can let us know if they see anything we haven't responded to so that we can deal with this correctly. We look forward to being able to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future for another great stay with us and many more happy memories.. Kind regards Xenofon Asprakis - General Manager

We are frequent visitors to both Island Blue and Pefki Islands and both hotels have always been faultless. However we fear it’s becoming a victim of its own success ….
Firstly Island Blue has always been the most expensive and the flagship hotel in the group; the rooms are becoming tired and are in need of renovation especially the bathrooms, the cleaning is haphazard (only the v basic done, mirrors not cleaned once, floors dirty, towels only changed if put in the shower tray)…. the pool toilets are filthy and bins not emptied.
The WiFi is non existent which in a TUI platinum hotel is not acceptable in this day and age.
The breakfast is not now a relaxing experience due to Pefki islands being made bed and breakfast also. The breakfast area is simply not big enough to accommodate two hotels and is a bit chaotic.
The safe in our room was broken, the plug missing from bathroom sink (however both fixed quickly). Food bin missing under the sink…. Small things but attention to detail was always such a big thing in previous years.
The standard of food is still very good, especially at the pool bar and Yiannis and his son do a great job. As does kostas managing the restaurant and Christa in the supermarket.
The sunbeds are appalling and dangerous. I see from previous reviews that this is being addressed.
Overall the zen like atmosphere of Island Blue is now missing which is such a pity. It was always more adult focused and Pefki more so for families with young kids which is what set the two apart and gave something to every age group!
Please make Pefki Islands self catering again! The price has gone up by a crazy amount and for people like us who are not bothered by breakfast, it’s leaving us with the difficult decision of probably having to find somewhere new after 8 years of wonderful holidays! It’s also having an impact on nearby restaurants losing their lunch trade.
All in all, both of these hotels are still good but no longer excellent and faultless as they once were. Regulars will notice a change for sure.
I feel traitorous writing this review and do so in the hope that the new management takes notice. If it ain’t broken it don’t need fixing!!!!!

One of the very few hotels that was open in late May/early June and we chose this as our original accommodation was not opening in time. What a great choice!
Taxi transfer can be picked up outside the airport & charge a standard rate of 74 Euros to Pefkos. (TUI charge £249 return for this! over twice the price of arranging your own) this takes about an hour. Of course you can use the transfer bus free of charge but it takes a lot longer.
The hotel & grounds are immaculate, our room was really spacious & overlooked the pool with a sea view. Aircon included in the price, safe 47 Euros for two weeks, Tax 21 Euros.
We stayed on Bed & Breakfast basis & the selection of food served at breakfast in the Elia restaurant was amazing; through from cold meats, fresh fruit & yogurt to fresh bread items & pastries plus freshly cooked eggs with bacon, sausages, beans & tomatoes. Maria the Restaurant supervisor & her staff were so friendly & welcoming every morning; she taught us some Greek translations for commonly asked questions too.
Easy walking distance to the beach & other restaurants.
All the staff work really hard to make this a fantastic place to stay. Would definitely return - miss it already!

This hotel was of a very good standard with large airy and very clean room and balcony overlooking the pool and pool bar. A welcome gift was left in the room which was a lovely touch. The room was serviced daily to a high standard, with fresh linen and towels.
The hotel was quiet so no issues with pool bar noise at night, though there were noise issues from a local live rock venue nearby.
The breakfast restaurant was lovely- very clean, very good range of food including local Greek options which were delicious, such as a wide range of fresh and conserved fruit, honey, spinach and cheese pies, alongside British options, such as omelette made to order.
We dined only once in buffet restaurant which was very good.
A short walk from the lovely beach, a range of pools to use, friendly helpful staff. Beautiful gardens kept really well.
We’d stay again and recommend to friends 😊

We recently stayed at the Island Blue to celebrate my 60th Birthday with family. The transfers went smoothly and the booking in went so easily so were quickly in our room after quite a long day travelling. The reception staff and "chauffeur" who drove us and our cases to the room were polite and friendly. My wife was a little disappointed because she had requested a bottle of wine in our room on arrival but it wasn't there. We didn't bother to chase it up.
Throughout our stay we were very impressed with the breakfast choices and quality of the food and staff throughout the catering side of the business. All were super friendly, fun and professional. The father and son " tag team" on the pool bar Yannis and Guliano were a hit with everyone, great guys and very funny and knowlegeable...great cocktails too. The resort was very clean and well maintained, safe and easy to navigate. The pools were great andcthe Greek night was superb, great fun, great food too!
The only downside was 5 days where the water went off from about 4pm until about 8pm.
The standard of room cleaning was hit or miss too with our room not being properly cleaned especially the bathroom. Once or twice our cups, teaspoons and glasses weren't cleaned. Sometimes they smelled strongly of bleach too which wasn't great.
Apart from that all great!

Came here originally in 2014 and came back again this year. The addition of the Spa is excellent and staff are as friendly as ever. Really enjoyed our stay again and the quality of the hotel seems like it should have a higher star rating. The food and drinks at the pool bars are excellent and the food at Elia is great too.
Really nice to see good Covid procedures at breakfast with guests having to wear gloved and masks, which made you feel reassured.
Only a couple of niggles this time:
- The sunloungers really need to be thrown out and new ones brought in as lots of them were broken and they don't lie flat so you can't lie on your front. Ones like the ones at the top pool would be good.
- I know it's not the hotel's fault but the rooms are quite echoey so if anyone is walking on the floor above you or closing drawers you can hear everything which really wakes you up at 4am when people are arriving and leaving and some guests were really loud, coming home drunk in the early hours, shouting and slamming doors which woke loads of us up because the rooms are not very soundproof. I'm not sure if anything can be done to make the rooms less echoey? I think asking for top floor room would really help with this, which we did but sadly, did not get one.
Other than that, great holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Stayed here for 10 nights with our wedding guests. We got married at St. Paul’s bay and I had been in contact with Louise for over a year as I had seen her input on some of the Facebook forums. She wasn’t my wedding planner ( I had already booked wedding prior to coming across Louise and I was getting married in Lindos) however Louise has offered her help and support over the last year following our postponed wedding in 2020. She has been so helpful and supportive not just with wedding advice but general holiday and guest advice. She not only helped prior to our arrival but during our stay she helped us order taxis and arrange a birthday cake for my dads 60th. She also helped my husband see a dr for an ear infection. Nothing was too much trouble and she went above and beyond. Thank you so much! I knew our wedding holiday was in safe hands at island blue before arriving because of this. I was not disappointed all of the staff were absolutely fantastic!
Check in was great and efficient and we were escorted by buggy to our rooms. Pefki islands bar had a great atmosphere and lovely vibe to the place when we arrived. Just knew we had made the right decision in staying at island blue (you get to use all 3 hotels facilities)
The barmen at Almyra were true characters and took an interest in everyone and kept the bar pristine and there were never any wait times. The cocktails were amazing and the food was also really good! We were so pleased!also reasonably priced. George who made sure the guests were transported around the hotel was a real gem and a lovely man. Really felt you were taken care of by all the staff at the 3 complexes. We moved to a 5 star hotel for our honeymoon and honestly thought island blue was better.
Elia restaurant was well run and breakfast was fantastic! Thank you to the lady who cooked my omelettes every day they were amazing! Greek night was fantastic also so would recommend this.
Hotel room was pristine and a great size with a huge balcony. Huge pool and again so clean and tidy. Great location with loads of top quality tavernas around. Nikolas taverna was all our favourite and we went there twice. Very authentic and great food and service (to get here turn right at the top of the street) Beach below the hotel was lovely - Sandy and clear water - great boat trip to Lindos directly below the steps and to the left highly recommend.
Felt really safe at the hotel with all relevant covid restrictions in place.
Thank you so much for a memorable wedding holiday for us and our guests. We all had such an amazing time

Just returned from a very enjoyable visit at this Hotel which is situated just a few hundred yards from the centre of the village of Pefkos. The Hotel is part of a resort involving three sites, all with their own pools although guests staying anywhere on the resort are welcome to visit any of the pools.
The island Blue, as well as having a large pool which is split into two parts has an additional pool close to their restaurant which doesn’t have a children’s section and which is ideal if you are looking for peacefulness and tranquility whilst sitting in the sunshine or whilst having a leisurely swim.
Pefkos has many restaurants and bars all close to one another offering many alternative food options but if you wanted to stay around the resort then there are food options available, for example, if you have breakfast in their restaurant then the quality of that breakfast, which is served buffet style, is outstanding with so much choice available.
The rooms are large, clean, have balconies or terrace’s with, unlike in many places now, a daily room service. There were still some rules associated with Covid which were perfectly understandable. The staff we had dealings with, whether in reception, behind the bars, waiters and waitresses, cleaners etc were all keen to ensure that a comfortable, happy and enjoyable time was had and that was very much to their credit.
The Hotel is situated only a five minute walk to the beach if you don’t mind navigating a number of steps or alternatively it is about a leisurely 15 minute walk to the beach on the roadways if preferred. There are many sun beds and parasols available on the sandy beach ranging from 12 euros for two beds on the basic package to 38 euros for all sorts of additional add ons!
There was a glass bottom boat trip (19 euro’s) available lasting about an hour which took you to Lindos which was very enjoyable and if feeling fit, the climb up to the top of the Acropolis (12 euros per person) is worth it. A taxi ride back from Lindos was about 9 or 10 euros depending on the speed of the taxi driver!
There was entertainment available on a number of nights, during my stay, there were Drifters and ABBA tribute bands, a Sixties night and a Greek night with all sorts of Greek delicacies on the menu.
All in all, this Hotel is to be highly recommended and I would not hesitate in revisiting.

This is our 2nd visit to Island Blue and certainly won’t be our last. We were the 1st arrivals for this season and had a wonderful welcome. The rooms are spotless and spacious, very comfortable, the whole complex is clean and well maintained. Food in the Elia is beautiful, wide variety of breakfast options.
Sending a big thank you to all the staff for making our holiday wonderful as usual.
100% COVID safe as well.
Everyone from the cleaners, maintenance, gardeners, the bar and restaurant staff to the reception and management have been so friendly, happy and a pleasure to be around.
We can’t wait to come back in September and finalise our wedding plans for May 2022
