Malambe Camp is the cheapest and best option for Budget travellers who visit cape maclear. Good and well priced food, cosy huts and cheap camping option + the colourful garden and the perfect sunset over the lake scenery make this Lodge my first choice. Only if you're looking for a quiet hideout spot it might be not your thing, since...

Malambe is a fantastic place to stay at Cape Maclear. It is definitely on of the cheaper places, but it is still a lovely place to stay. The staff is friendly and helpful and some even helped us to buy food from the locals without having to pay the "foreigner" price. The campsite is right on the beach and you...

Some camped and others stayed in the huts. The staff were very helpful and the camp site was very very beautiful. Pitched our tent facing the beach and it was a lovely 4 night stay. Very affordable, easy to arrange snorkeling, diving and other activities. Amazing stay, great little place even with children!

Absolutely loved our stay here! Such a great place! It is the cheapest place by far in cape Maclear, but also one of the best! Great atmosphere here all the time. You will meet really interesting and fun fellow travellers here, as it is a budget place to stay. Love the little huts, really nice comfy beds and very clean....

We stayed here for nearly 2 weeks when we were here and we loved this place. The rooms are basic but great value for money. There were always lots of other guests around so there was a good atmosphere and people to talk to, but isnt a noisy backpacker type place. Its in a good location by the lakeside and...

Malambe camp was our charming home on Lake Malawi for a few days. Lodging is basic, but suitable for the price. Some of the tents zippers are not working, but safety of your belongings is not in question. Very basic but charming straw chalets are very recommendable, comfort and price wise. Staff is jolly and friendly, food tasty and recommendable....

Our son-in-law arranged for us to stay here in beach hut. The hut just had space for a double bed. Mosquito net supplied. But it was enough. What mattered was the 5m walk across the sand to the waters edge. Fantastic location, food was really good value, and better than some of the more expensive places to eat. Very friendly...

This place is very good value for money. The huts are right by the beach, you can literally roll out of bed into the sea. It's also in a good location for bars and restaurants. The food at the lodge is also good value but like most of Malawi does take a long time to appear, around an hours wait....

This camp is in a wonderful location on the beach. It is super-basic, think small reed hut bed and mosquito net, but let's be honest, what more do you need? You'll be spending all your time outdoors anyway.... There is a really laid back feel to this place and all the staff are very sweet. They'll even give you some...

£5 a night for a beach hut with a double bed and Mosquito net. Small but perfect and with own padlock and key. Staff, especially Chico were really great! Including when I came into some difficulty with the tour association. Staff have friends who hang out here too and they are always inviting you out to join them. Showers were...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cape Maclear's funkiest backpacker lodge, situated on the sandy shores of Lake Malawi Description Malambe (Chichewa for baobab) is situated on the sandy beach of Lake Malawi right in the heart of Cape Maclear and offers camping, beach hut and dorm accommodation at great prices. We have a cool bar overlooking the lake towards Thumbe Island serving all drinks (ice cold of course) and a restaurant serving breakfast lunch and dinner. For those who wish to self cater - our large spotlessly clean kitchen is fully equipped with all that is needed to cook up a delicious dinner. The village market is a short walk away and has all that you would expect to find in a local market. Watch out for the early morning fisherman as they come in with their catches - a variety of fresh fish which is great for the BBQ. Malambe is also trying to be environmentally friendly and uses solar power for hot water and for some lighting. Other services at Malambe include wifi internet access, laundry, boat trips, village tours and free use of snorkelling equipment. Be warned - those who stay find it very hard to leave! ... more   less
