This is a home stay in a beautiful “haveli”/ home. There are only 4 rooms available. Service was personalized. The food was absolutely delicious - Rajasthani fare, but the kitchen was open to orders. It is full of antiques and photos of royal families and relatives of the owner. He himself was with us at meals and during send-off and hosted us for drinks one evening in spectacular surroundings. The rooms, while charming and old world are fairly basic….we resorted to bucket baths as the shower pressure was not enough and wifi is spotty - a dongle provided did not work well. But one goes to Bera not for luxury but for drives to see leopards, organized by Castle Bera. Magical experience. Narain, our tracker was superb. If getting to Bera from Udaipur, insist that the driver takes the highway.

Excellent property that is committed to making you spot leopards. All the staff members - Harsh, Sohan, Maan Singh, Sumer Singh - were very helpful and friendly. The food is homely and non spicy. The property itself is very nice with a lovely garden and lots of pictures of the past royalty with only 5 rooms. Our room was spacious and had all amenities for a comfortable stay. The biggest standout is their excellent drivers. Narayan was our driver for all safaris and is one of the best I have come across amongst all the safari trips I have done - very interested, patient and knowledgable. The jeep was very well equipped with excellent cameras (a good camera is needed in Bera as the sightings can be from far), binoculars, flashlight and water. The staff also arranged a complimentary drinks and snacks evening for us under the stars, which was lovely. All in all, would definitely recommend staying here.

Unbelievable hospitality and service. They spoil you. From the service staff, catering the drivers and spotters on the safaris they all made our stay so comfortable and made us and other guests feel like royalty. One of the other guests had come there on her birthday with family and the resort at short notice arranged a celebration where all joined in. Although Bera is a small town a cake which would do a five star proud was conjured. The level of service and care is understandable when you meet the Owner, Baljeet Singh who is by nature so concerned about each guest - even personally suggesting the best menu as per our preference. Apparently, Baljeet Singh is a pioneer in the leopard safaris and on all of our 5 outings we were never disappointed. He and his men knew the habits and even the timings of each leopard - it was uncanny we always arrived at the right time and place just before the leopards came out. We went there for leopards but also had sightings of bears, hyenas, nilgai and deer. We have decided this has to be an annual trip.

My stay at Castle Bera was extraordinary!!! It is my favorite memory from my trip to India and one of my favorite travel memories ever. From the moment I stepped onto the property, everyone made me feel as though I were at home. The owner is a consummate host, extremely welcoming, an interesting and humorous story-teller and extremely gracious and kind. All the staff, too, were helpful and accommodating. My room was large, beautiful, and comfortable. The safari drives were absolutely superb. The drivers take their job very seriously and do all they can to make sure you spot a leopard - and they succeed!!! I saw at least one leopard on each of my 4 drives. The drives themselves, even apart from seeing the leopards was fun and exciting, especially since the scenery you drive through is spectacular. I cannot praise Castle Bera highly enough!!!

From our early arrival until our check out the staff and the property owners were fabulous. The meals were of the highest quality and really felt we were at home. The leopard safari's each morning and evening offered so much to take in. The birdlife was amazing and we were able to view the Rusty Spotted Cat in it's natural habitat. Viewing the Desert Fox was also great and obviously seeing the Leopard was excellent. Well done team again

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have found this wonderful place. Baljeet (Winko) is such a wonderful host sharing his experiences and stories over dinner. The small team of staff could not have been more welcoming and kind. Amazing food and hospitality. Harshpal took me out on each safari where I had the most amazing experience watching Leopards in their own environment. Harsh has so much respect for the Leopards and has a wealth of knowledge. He ensured I got the best sightings. Such a privilege. He also took me to some other wonderful sites in the area as well as surrounding villages. I hope I have the opportunity to visit again one day. Bera will have a special place in my heart forever.

Second time here. First with family and this time with college friends. Spent 2 days but packed with 4 safaris. The experience is designed to be intimate. Large rooms but very few mean that everyone is taken care of in terms of food preferences, comfortable layouts and wonderful jeep experiences on the safaris. Everyone is served lunch and dinner in a common dining room with a wonderful outdoor option.
Got to be some of the best drivers and guides for the safaris, They also know every nook and corner, scale the off-roading rocks and mountains with ease, spot the big cats and animals and take you to the best spots.
Equidistant from Jodhpur and Udaipur and with a very welcoming staff and Raja saheb, it’s a lovely experience to visit Jawai through the eyes and lenses of Castle Bera.

Dear Hannah,
I can strongly vouch for Ram Tours. Mr. Rameshwar is the pro Pieter and also himself drives the passengers. He has taken me to Bera and knows the route. Myself and family has been using his services for over two and a half decades. He is a small operator but highly professional and trustworthy. My wife and daughter have individually used his services many times and I can fully trust him. Please insist on Rameshwar taking you there instead of allocating one of his drivers. You can give my reference if you feel the necessity - Jaidev Singh Bhati
His mobile is +91 98298 42086.
