We had stayed in Convento São Saturnino for 2 nights in May (from friday to sunday), on the occasion of our wedding/early honeymoon which took place nearby your guesthouse. On the first morning, the drain of the shower clogged, and we had to soak the water from the shower several times with towels so it didn’t end up flooding the... More

We were walking to this hotel, and the first glimpse of it, down in the valley we had yet to reach the end of, and around to the other side, was one of some disappointment. It lies in an idyllic spot, but, because, as we were to discover, some building work was going on, there was an inordinate amount of... More

A unique place. An old Convent that just newly has been renovated. The whole atmosphere and the rooms the set up is great. It is not luxury in material setup, but it is luxury for your mind. Common breakfast around the big table "forces" you to meet other people. Really really nice.

We did stay one week and did enjoy every single day! This historic place was rebuild 8 years ago with emphasis on detail and passion for authenticity. You won't find TV or safety box. You will find a secluded paradise and wonderful views to the landscape and the sea. The pictures are no photoshop, you will find the place like... More

This place is really special and perfect for those who like to stay away from the tourist traps. As a couple we're always impressed when beautiful sites like this are taken on by courageous owners and made accessible to holiday makers. It takes vision and hard work! The staff were lovely and the friendly animals that roam about were very... More

Stayed here for two nights during a recent walking holiday.Hidden away down a lovely valley with views to the sea.Warmly greeted by the always helpful staff and we were quickly settled into our fab room .Lovely antiquated atmosphere within this fabulous old building which is built over many different levels so there are lots of steps. We had dinner included on... Just come back from Portugal, and stayed a couple of nights here. It is tucked away in a little valley with views down to the sea. The hotel is approached down a steep track, and is perched on the edge of the hillside, the various rooms are consequently on many levels with steep steps between. We absolutely loved it, the... My wife and I spent about a week here, we needed to unwind, recharge, this place did it. Down a steep switchback to a automatic gate. The property is vast with wonderful views of the ocean in the distance as you look down the mourntainslope. Free parking, decent WiFi. Wonderful common spaces indoors and out.

Unusual luxury resort. Extremely attentive staff (thank you Jonathan). Wonderful details, and beautiful setting, add to an unforgettable experience. The breakfasts are complete, and the dinners well prepared with variety to satisfy most diets.

The people running this hotel were great. While there were a few small problems (shower head falling off, poor wifi), the warmth and graciousness of the owners and staff more than made up for them. There are lots of steps so not great for the physically challenged
