Freedom Palace is in such a quiet place and full of nature that I ended up staying here longer. It is placed in a very quiet area in the hills but in walking distance of the town but you can also hire a tuktuk out to get you up and down the hill throughout the non snow season if you don't like walking. Baba Bashir runs this small place and rents out for 300-600INDR, all with shared bathrooms....he will also cook you breakfast and dinner in the evening for extra.....and invite you for a chat. Set in beautiful surroundings and extremely quiet. The place can be hard to find so is best to ring Bashir so he can meet you in town to take you there. Rock bottom prices, beautiful views and very quiet. Baba Bashir will make you feel at home.

This place is truly heaven on earth with the most beautiful view you can ever get from your room/ hotel at a great price. Baba Bashir and his son Mustaaq are the best hosts we ever have come across. They keep checking on you frequently and make sure you are "all good" as Bashir baba asks and happy staying in their beautiful Hut amidst the lush green mountains, stream and a small water fall in their backyard. One has to stay here to experience the real beauty of pahalgam . We stayed for 2 nights , they also set up a bonfire on both nights ofcourse at extra cost which we happily paid as the experience was surreal gazing at the stars and enjoying the cool breeze with the best view of the Himalayan snow capped mountains. They provide home cooked simple and tasty food made with lot of love and care for the guests! Also hot water is available throughout the day which was so important. The road towards this hotel is not so great yet you enjoy the beauty going uphill. the way needs to be improved. One suggestion is to provide attached bathroom in all rooms for more convenience. Impressed with overall stay at freedom palace. Looking forward stay here again, for more time on our next trip!
