I wanted a trip to Morocco that would get me into the desert for New Year but having a chance to stop at more unusual places along the way. I contacted Said Himodi, one of a great group of guys who usually work with The Madnomad. I gave him an idea of what I wanted but with not a lot...

Omar and his team make you feel welcome and at home, and work hard to make sure you have the best visit possible. Omar kindly worked out a desert day trip that fitted our budget (take note, few card payments taken in M'hamid and no ATMs) , with the brilliant Mohammad and friends (who seem to know the whole village)...

Oman welcomed us, negotiated a price for our rooms and for a Sahara trip. The hotel is charming, cool, quiet, safe, and efficient. It has a courtyard with a playing fountain, a cool loggia for reading, and comfortable clean beds. There is limited wifi and no TV, but if you want such things in the desert then you're there for...

Having done this kind of thing before in India, I can confidently say that the service he provided was not only authentic, but fantastic value. The food was delicious, the tents were very comfortable, Omar (from a...

His lovely maison d'hote is warmly decorated with rugs, Berber symbols, and rich color. Don't miss the little resident hedgehog! As a solo woman traveller, I really appreciate the...

I recommend Dar M'Hamid as a place to stay. It is a nice, small quaint locally-owned place with good food and hospitality. Stayed there for 1 night before heading off on a camel trek and it was a great place to stay - it is much better to stay in local places than in the big fancy foreign owned lodges....
