Detailed Reviews
I travel to the area quite often and normally stay with family. This time around I came down with several friends to show them this beautiful part of the island, and staying with family was not an option. I visited the hotel on a prior trip and decided to stay there for this trip since I was looking for a place in Combate with amenities...like a pool and lounging area.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They give you more of a B&B vibe than a hotel. Room was clean and AC kept room cold (though if you were on the bed below the unit, you need to adjust the airflow else you wake up with a stiff neck). The grounds were well maintained and the pool was nice. We were there in Jan. 2020, after some earthquakes hit the southern part of the island, so there were very few guests, and we had the pool and gazebo area pretty much to ourselves. The only negative is if you are a breakfast person, you will be disappointed with the included continental breakfast. For me it was fine, but you can go a la carte which we found to be reasonably priced. Combate beach behind the hotel is very nice, but definitely drive out to La Playuela, near the Lighthouse. One of the best beaches in the area, and maybe on the island. There is also a trail by the hotel that goes around the Salinas. Its 5 miles one way, if you like to run. You just have to be mindful of the cyclists (I think the hotel also has bikes).
If you are a fan of the area, and prefer a hotel (vs. the local room rentals, with no amenities), you can't go wrong staying here.

Dear guest, Thank you for choosing Combate Beach Resort for your vacation in the west coast and your wonderful review. Yes, we pride ourselves with providing the best service our guests deserve and with keeping the facilities clean and comfortable so our guests enjoy the beauty our side of the island has to offer. I wanted to also update you that due to COVID-19 precautions, we have eliminated the Continental Breakfast and improved our a-la-carte menu options with more variety and great flavor. We hope you visit us again soon. Sincerely, Xavier A. Ramirez, GM

We went for Presidents day weekend. The staff is betty friendly and ready to help with any question or need. Room was spotless. Clean sheets and a firm mattress was perfect for me. The room had a small balcony perfect for taking fresh air. The pool are was very nice with a small water fall with a gazebo area, restrooms through the hotel were in excellent clean shape. A small basketball court and a beach volleyball area. Even the smoker area was very nice with a swing ideal for selfies. Accessible parking by with plenty spaces. Access to the beach was close to the swimming pool area like a 4 minute walk to the beach.
They also rent kayaks, bicycles. There's a pool 🎱 table at the gazebo where people were enjoying board games also.
Continental breakfast had plenty stuff from 7:00am to 10:30 am you can also enjoy a la carte breakfast, we ordered an omelet and a sandwich they both were ver good, and prices are very reasonable. They only served breakfast in the morning and pizzas trough the day. They got no room service which was a minus, but with so many places near by, is not that terrible.
A small gift shop where you can find all you may need and take a souvenir home.
For me this was an awesome stop you have to consider when going to the south west.

We booked Combate Beach Resort for December 30,31, 2019 and stayed an extra night too. We had an amazing time. The staff and service is the best I have seen. The room we had #34 was beautiful! We felt very safe and relaxed. AC was perfect. The private beach entrance was so exciting. There is a wildlife refuge along your beach walk. We saw several different birds, iguanas, and a frog. The beach is clean, and beautiful. A very short walk to a really nice restaurant “Annie’s” right on the beach. Our resort has a really nice pool, that is open late. You can get bikes, kayaks, umbrellas, etc... they always have ice cold drinks available very cheap. Their continental breakfast is yummy. Wish they had meat at it, but their Breakfast kitchen is open and I recommend the spinach sausage. They really know how to party too, they threw a New Years Dinner and party to remember forever! Wow! We didn’t have to drive far to many amazing sights. The lighthouse, the natural bridge, the bioluminescent bay, and don’t forget the stories about the extra terrestrials in the area 😳 Highly recommend this place, we will be back

The reason we went to this hotel was to celebrate New Year's Eve away from the San Juan metro area, where we live, but still Puerto Rican style. Food was OK, but music was not. Although they advertised a live music group, which did play for some time, the DJ music with which we were welcomed to the festivity and which played during the long intermissions was ROCK music. We, and several other people attending the party, complained to the Management about the DJ rock music, to which nobody was dancing at the moment, but they indicated that they had to please their different guests. Some people in our table and in adjacent tables even decided to go back to their rooms until the rock DJ music finished. After some other complaints to the waitresses, the DJ music changed to include some Latin music, but the mood for many of us had been spoiled, and we decided that Combate Beach Resort is not the place for us to celebrate Christmas in the future.
Complimentary breakfast is good, and the front desk personnel and waitresses are very service oriented, especially Jackie and Joanna.

Dear Myriam, Thank you for choosing our hotel for welcoming the New Year. We are sorry you didn't like the music played by our DJ. As I explained to you during the party, we have to play music for all tastes as we had guests from all around the world, including Bulgaria, Germany, Colombia, Peru, United States and locals. The music you refer was a mix of Rock, Techno & Pop which the DJ played for 20 minutes tops and included music legends like: Madonna, Michael Jackson, Queen, Lady Gaga, among others. I personally, never been to a party that doesn't include them, but I'm sorry you dislike this music. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay and enjoyed the rest of the party. Sincerily, Xavier A. Ramírez, General Manager

My only complaint has to do with an odor that emanates from the dining room/office area. It smells like strong air freshener and its horrible. It overpowers the senses when you drink coffee or eat breakfast in the morning. The food and coffee presented for the continental breakfast leave a lot to be desired. Poor quality breads, jams, fruit, etc look like they came from Walmart.

Arrived in Puerto Rico May2, 2021. The airport was smooth if you complete the documents accordingly. Drove to cabo rojo parking and arrival were easy. The hotel concierge was hospitable and we received two free sangarias. The rooms I had were 1 and 9, my only issue was that room 1 had the hardest beds ever. It’s was very clean and the service was amazing so that’s the only issue which was minor. The pool and beach were easily accessible and covid friendly. The gentlemen advised us that my alights were left on he was so sweet I wish could remember his name. The breakfast was excellent and staff were very friendly. Also, we left two items behind and the hotel called and advised us (not even anything expensive) but they were that courteous to call. I recommend staying if visiting cabo rojo as this was an amazing place for singles and families.

Combate Beach Resort is, without any doubt, the best option for lodging in Puerto Rico’s southwest. Located in the Combate quarter of Cabo Rojo, the hotel has one of the best beaches in the area, direct access to an impressive nature reserve and very close to the iconic Cabo Rojo lighthouse, Playuela beach and the fun and restaurants in Boquerón. The rooms are very ample, clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and attentive. In short, it’s a wonderful place to stay.

First room smelled moldy; we were given another room in another building due to allergies of one family member. Mattress there was painful ~ Combate may want to invest in Tuft & Needle or Leesa or some other mattress in a box because they are more comfortable by far (seriously!). The local sites and beaches are BEAUTIFUL and we loved this area of Puerto Rico. We liked the restaurant (Angela's?) right down the beach with the open air seating area. Such a relaxing place to vacation. I would return again but I'm not sure about where we would stay. Fave part of the hotel was the ease of parking & the relaxed breakfast vibe at the hotel.

This 6 night stay in paradise was everything we expected and more.... The facilities were always clean and the crew enforced protocols at all times. The room was spacious (triple room) and comfortable. The breakfast was always served warm and fresh. The beach is a mere few steps away... but nothing beats the welcoming attitude and friendly faces that work there. Tymei, Nileika, Amanda, Pedro, the girls in the breakfast room, etc... They enhance the experience with their warm smiles and friendly nature. will ensure that anyone asks me about staying in Puerto Rico considers the Combate Beach Resort as their #1 choice.
Special thanks to Tymei for her recommendations to places in Rincon. You were great Tymei!

Stayed over the weekend of Feb. 4th. As before, we were not dissapointed with the excellent service of its staff. In particular, we appreciate Jaime Seda at the front desk who was always attentive, professional and going the extra mile. We also enjoyed the great location, local gastronomy with fresh fish, and gorgeous beaches and scenery. Will return soon.
