Detailed Reviews
The Gili Islands are a must for anyone visiting Indonesia. It's a great getaway from all the noise and pollution of cities.
The room I had at this hotel was very good, even though I felt that the price was more that it deserved. I liked the outdoor bath, the restaurant, the pool and the beach across the road from the hotel ... I spent a very nice time watching sunset o my first day there.
As with many hotels on the island, bikes are available for rent @50K Rupiah/day

The hotel is great, a little far from the center (40 minutes on foot or 20 minutes by bike) which makes the place quiet, ideal for honeymoon, family...
The hotel is clean, the villas are magnificent, the staff is very cheerful
The only small problem is the wait at the restaurant even though the dishes are good. The hotel has a large swimming pool and the villas have private swimming pools, the hotel offers bike rental at a very reasonable price (per 24 hours) everything is well maintained we will come back with pleasure

With my family we opted for the two-room solution with private pool and we found ourselves very well having not experienced any delay in the delivery of the rooms or in the cleaning of the same. Breakfast of average level. In a quiet area so you need to use the bicycle or wheelchairs to reach the center / port.

My husband and I have stayed at The Ombak Sunset Hotel every year since 2013 and luckily for us a couple of times a year excluding the pandemic. We often take our family, friends and have had our sons magical wedding at the hotel. The hotel NEVER disappoints and it's a dream as soon as you arrive.
The hotel is at the top of the Island, where the sunsets. It's quieter than Central but easy to get around should you wish to head there. It's a perfect location, heaven, just so beautiful and relaxing.
We stayed for 2 weeks at the end of July/beginning of August 2002 and again November 2022 for a short stay with our Grandson. Every day we would enjoy our delicious breakfast, walk or bike ride around the island, head back to the hotel between 12-2pm for lunch & a swim, get showered, then head to the beach for cocktail time and the amazing romantic dinner. We did head into Central after dinner a couple of times on our bikes in the evening but we were extremely happy to stay the evening at the hotel. If you did want to head to Central and didn't want to ride bikes or walk, the hotel staff can arrange a horse and cart.
We have stayed in most of the hotel rooms over the years and they all beautifully decorated and extremely clean but our favourite room is the One Bedroom Pool Villa. The best part is when you come back to your room from your evening out and the bed is turned down, slippers by the side of the bed, flowers on the pillow, biscuits, new towels, dim lighting and the room is clean again, even though it was cleaned in the morning.
Breakfast and lunch always has a large selection of very tasty fresh food but our all time favourite is dinner. It's so very special, we would let the staff know what we fancied around 3pm for dinner after sunset, and as you can see from the photos it was amazing. My hubby had Yellow Fin Tuna every night for 2 weeks. I mixed my dinner up between Mari Mari and BBQ Garlic King Prawns. There is obviously more food on the menu but as we really enjoyed these meals we didn't want to change!
I don't know if I can pinpoint a favourite part of the hotel experience as every part of the hotel in my opinion is 10 out of 10 which makes it a perfect destination for a holiday in paradise. My husband and I have no complaints at all and can't wait until the next holiday.
A huge thank to the General Manager, Hendra, Andre, Rudiman, Epol, Riana and all the staff including Reception, Pool, Restaurant, Sunset, House Keeping and Gardeners that made our stay very special and can't wait to see you all again.

I have been to Gilli T five times but never had the level of care and support as I have had from Ombak Sunset resort. The staff are truly wonderful and the facilities beautiful. It is quiet but a short ride to the more active parts of town. The sunsets are incredible and the food and beverages delicious. I was looked after by a young man named Hendra who went out of his way to ensure I was comfortable and organised my day trips so that they were efficient and far cheaper than I could have. He is a credit to the resort and I am grateful to him and all the staff for creating such an amazing atmosphere. I will stay here every time

We stayed here for 2 nights during our trip to Gilli T. It’s a very old facility, the rooms are not nice, with pieces of wood falling apart from the sides. The shower was barely working and the bathroom was not very cleaned. Also the hotel is quite far from the main area of Gilli T. and the bikes that the hotel offers are very old and in poor conditions. The only pro of this hotel it’s its sunset view.

the very nice structure, shame the service: we arrived and the receptionist says he did not have the indication for separate beds in a room, making us wait all afternoon, having face towels is impossible even by asking them, on the day of departure we were always assured by the same the transport of luggage from the room to the reception, but at the time of departure we had to solicit several times without him worrying about the transfer with the wheelchairs. For about fifteen departing guests had not been called and therefore arrived late. Arrived at the port, checking in for the boat we discovered that we paid the transport more than agreed by the agency and we already paid, all this due to the inefficiency and listlessness of the receptionist. pity as I repeat because the structure is really beautiful in a wonderful atmosphere

The rooms are spacious but not spotless. In the bathroom, being outdoors, I had a close encounter with a not very small mouse.
You have a towel available for everything.
The pool water is hot and dirty.
The beach is impassable because there are 4 umbrellas and 8 sunbeds for all hotel guests.
I recommend bringing shoes to go into the water because it is full of coral and if you don't bring them you won't enter.
I only took advantage of the breakfast which was nothing special because there is little choice.
In short, the structure would also be beautiful but it is not looked after and dirty.
Overall on the island there are many places to go and eat well and at a low cost.

This is a beautiful hotel with great beach views and a beautiful pool with swim up bar. Every day the staff made us feel like we were celebrities! Always greeting us by our names, and could never do enough for us. I went here with my boyfriend (now fiancee) who actually popped the question at this resort! The staff set up a beautiful candle lit dinner in a cabana on the beach and served us a wonderful 4 course meal. When the wind got a bit much we moved inside and they continued to make our evening ad special as possible.
The hotel is on the quiet side of the island, I actually hated the other side when we went because of the people shouting trying to get you to buy stuff. I understand this is how it is here but I much preferred the serenity of where the hotel was based. Our room was massive! Wonderfully maintained and clean, with a bathroom big enough for several people! Breakfast even catered for westerners with pork bacon and Sausages rather than the halal beef versions we have had before.
The swing was perfect. Sunset, horseriding on the beach and the beautiful swim up pool bar were all great but the staff here really made our experience extra special everyday.
Would highly recommend this to anyone on their honeymoon or looking for a more romantic calm and serene experience of the Gili Islands.

The location is extraordinary, with beautiful sunsets. The manager is competent and helpful. Unfortunately, the positive aspects end here. The facility is very old, poorly maintained, and services are almost non-existent. The pool shows all its years, and it's advisable to have your tetanus vaccination updated due to the rusty and protruding nails in the sunbed area covering. The breakfast is completely inadequate. The quality of the products is poor, the selection is limited, and beverages are charged separately. The offered drinks are distributed from old, stained dispensers that do not encourage consumption.

Tourists from all the Gili islands were evacuated after the earthquake at Lombok. My suggestion is to check for any official warnings. While Indonesia is earth quake prone and prepared, considering Bali has had volcanic ash and 2 earthquakes in 6 weeks, I would reconsider. But do watch out for the official warning or contact your embassy.
