Me and my Partner visited Apostolata resort for our 5 year anniversary. We went all out as it was our first summer holiday either of us had experienced. We stayed in the private suite with the private pool. Overall the experience was lovely, most of the staff was nice and the scenery was spectacular! My only disappointment was with our private pool, it was freezing (unbearably cold) usually after you get in you get use to it, not in this water 😂. So I called up reception just to enquire as to if they had the facilities to warm the pool up slightly to make it more comfortable. 2 of the receptionist weren’t sure if it did or not and polity explained they would check for me and give me a call back. The following day I get a call from another lady who explained that the pool isn’t able to be heated, naturally I was a little disappointed due to the reason we went for the suite with the private pool was to use the private pool and this now wasn’t really an option (we used the pool 3 times in our week stay). The lady then proceeded to make me feel as though the question was quite stupid… perhaps it was but I wasn’t to know unless I asked so to which was a little disheartening but left it at that. So I thought that I’d write this review just to let anyone know that if you want the suite with a private pool, brace yourself 😂. I do think it would be a great idea for them to install a heating system to the pool and perhaps charge daily for it to be used as another way to make profit? Anyway, I Hope you enjoy your stay because overall it was really nice! I would definitely recommend snorkelling at the beach it was a stunning experience.

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I booked 7 nights here through Loveholidays.com who also took care of transfers to and from the airport (about an hours drive). The hotel itself is situated between Skala and Porros both of which they run free shuttle busses too every day at set times, they take about 10 minutes, and if you can't get on the driver is more than happy to do two runs. Alternatively it's about 8 euros by taxi, Skala has a taxi waiting area right on the beachfront, so if you want to go down there when the free busses aren't on you can. Skala has miles of perfect beaches, with loungers/umbrellas you can rent, across the road there are dozens of places to eat and shop, and boat tours... we booked half board and were informed on arrival that if we wanted to swap a dinner for a lunch we could, just to let them know in advance, we were also given a voucher for a lunch as our flight was delayed and we missed the first nights dinner. The hotel has lively entertainment most evenings that goes on until around 11:30. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and were tended to daily unless you put the do not disturb on the door. The room had a balcony with a proper sea view, and we could just about see one of the 3 pools from there too. The main pool is large and has plenty of loungers and umbrellas, a pool side bar and restaurant which allow you to charge to the room. Here you can get cocktails, pizza, and enormous mixed grills to share as well as dozens of other options. The main restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner is buffet style with a huge selection. The staff here are all fantastically helpful. One evening in addition to the buffet there was also a bbq in the dinning area. The food throughout was fantastic. Tap water at the hotel is also drinkable. There are a lot of steps, our room was downstairs from reception, the restaurant downstairs from there, the pool downstairs from there, you could then go downstairs again and down a hill that went to a secluded set of loungers right by the sea... although it looks inviting and we tried a dip one morning I immediately got stung by a jellyfish and got out again, there are no warning signs about that so be careful. The hotel also has a gym and spa, several areas of which are free to use, the jacuzzi needs pre booking but is free and is situated directly beneath the reception lobbys glass floor. The lady in charge of the spa who's name I unfortunately cannot remember is extremely friendly and helpful and often chats to guests by the pool and informs of treatments and how it works, without being pushy at all. The hotel wifi is free and works perfectly for quite a long distance, right down to the sea. Overall our time there was perfect, the staff fantastic and helpful and there was nothing you could fault (and im a picky brit!).

We were also part of a wedding party and mostly had a great time. I personally found the staff helpful although some of the restaurant staff are a bit brusque. Food is basic but there’s always something to eat. Yes, some food was Luke warm and chips I had were usually cold. A shortage of spoons? Always had to search. If you are not fit on your feet this is not for you. Steps and steep ramps everywhere. Although there is a golf cart available for anyone struggling. Including a driver. If you want a drink during the day you have to go down to the Pool Bar. Mojitos at the reception bar are €10 each. There is a list of house cocktails available as part of the all inclusive package. The shuttle into Skala finishes at 5.20 and back to the hotel 5.30pm Taxis are €10 including tip. Hope this is helpful.

We stayed here as part of a wedding group (50 people in total) we went fully inclusive .drinks selection was very limited and I ended up paying for drinks that I would have thought were all-inclusive. ( pina colada and Smirnoff vodka. ) The pool bar food was really good and the people that worked there were very pleasant and always very helpful. The lady in the pool bar was absolutely lovely. The food in the restaurant was very repetitive and more often than not cold or Luke warm. ( expect the excellent soup) staff very rude. I pointed out to someone that the food was cold they went over to have a look and just left it there. Went to the a la carte twice first time it was excellent the second time all the vegetables were cold and undercooked. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility problems as it is very hilly and there are a lot of concrete stairs to walk up and down to the swimming pool. The hotel itself was very clean with lovely views out to sea. Kefalonia itself is a lovely place and I would come again but would not stay here. In my opinion this should be classed as a 3 star hotel.

First impression is wow as you walk through the main entrance and can see straight through reception and bar to the sea beyond, you think you’re going to have a amazing stay. As soon as you see your bedroom you have to remind yourself that stars are allocated for the amenities on site. However, I have stayed in many four and five star hotels in Greece and elsewhere and usually the standard of bedroom accommodation is on par with the star rating. The bedrooms at Apostolata fall well below 3 star. The rooms are dark and dingy, tatty bedroom furniture, floor tiles which look decades old and in need of a good clean. The bathroom was disgusting, with a plastic “caravan style” shower cubicle in need of a good scrub. I dropped toothpaste at the start of our stay and it was still there 12 days later but at least we didn’t have cockroaches which our daughter had the distress of finding three times. The first time we showed the cleaner who was horrified and said big problem, coming from drains and she assured us it would be dealt with. We expected more than her merely stamping on it but as two more moved in clearly no action was taken. The beds are rock hard and uncomfortable. Bed linen old and not particularly clean. We had guests near us moving furniture, shouting and swearing late at night and during the night but so far from main building we felt vulnerable with no apparent security on site. The pool is the best part of the hotel. However sun beds are dirty and there are insufficient parasols. The pool toilets are disgusting, dirty, wet, full bins, badly painted door with bad language scratched into the paint on the back of it. Needs refurbishing desperately. Hotel policy is that toys and inflatables are not permitted but this was ignored and there were rings, little boats, lilos, flamingos galore. People standing with their drinks in the pool, you name it anything goes. The bar/reception area seemed nice on arrival but when you actually sit there you realise how tired and grubby the chairs are. We were half board and drinks are expensive, captive audience and too far to go to town every night. First night drinks, premium gin with bottle of tonic but after that it was clear we were getting the “all inclusive” cheap version which for €8.50 was annoying. It’s a long way from Skala and the hotel bus times designed to try and encourage you to stay in but even when staying in a beautiful hotel you need to see the rest of the town. We knew it was 3.5km from Skala before we booked and the distance did not put us off as we walk a lot at home. However, the combination of bad paving, dark and high temperatures meant after a daytime walk and evening walk to Skala realised it would have to be hotel bus or taxi. Taxis were easy to get, very busy to get one from Skala late at night at weekends but not a problem. However, €14 for each evening you have out mounts up. We asked about local bus timetable and were told they didn’t have any so Google it! We asked a different receptionist the next day who gave the information straight away. Reception booked our boat trip swiftly and simply. The head waiter is excellent, very hard working, likes to tell you about the food available that evening so that you can make an informed choice. Some members of staff in restaurant were rude and would have walked through you if you didn’t move.

We had an amazing family holiday this year in Kefalonia at Apostolata Island Resort & Spa. Firstly, Kefalonia is an amazing Island. Loads to do and small enough to hire a car and see all of the site. Can't wait to return. Apostolata is a great hotel. Facilities, food, staff, drinks all really good - especially the staff who are a real credit to this hotel. The entertainment wasn't great - especially the couple who DJ a few times a week - they could have really done with turning the music down a little during the early part of the evening. Rooms were lovely and clean. Just a really decent well-run family hotel.

This is a jewel which almost wish not to tell you about for fear of spoiling it through popularity - the staff are friendly particularly the restaurant manager who not only told us about every greek dish each evening but took time to teach my husband to make authentic Greek coffee. The complimentary bus driver is a sweet man and all the staff work long hours to help Kefalonia's tourist trade secret in this hotel. There is evening entertainment including a karaoke on Weds night. The spa and gym provide an additional offering to the public salt water pool and bar. Further guests can book at extra cost a private pool and a la carte restaurant. At the sea edge there is an entry point for snorkeling or deep sea swimming. Otherwise families might like to take the complimentary bus to Skala to swim or shop in the local town. A trip to Poros also offers boat trips as well as the excellent Capt Vangelis boat trips from Skala. This was an all round brilliant holiday which passed so quickly that the stunning views of the island and Ithaca/Zante added a bit of paradise.

We stayed here for a week in September 2022 and couldn't have been happier with the hotel. Its about an hours walk from Skala but its a lovely walk and if you'd prefer, the hotel offers a free shuttle bus or the reception can order you a cab for 7 euros. The hotel itself was welcoming and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was entertainment in the evening (except one night which was their night off) and this was enjoyable and not cheesy as it sometimes can be in these hotels. We were half board and the food was very good with the option to change your evening meal to lunch if that suited you more. The swimming pool was lovely and never crowded. We always got a sunbed and umbrella and the surrounding area was lovely and quiet. The pool bar and restaurant also offers some lovely food and drink for a charge. Our room was spotlessly clean and was visited by housekeeping each day. We had a beautiful view overlooking the swimming pool and the sea. The aircon worked well and the bed was very comfortable. If we were to visit the beautiful island of Kefalonia, we would definitely stay here again.
