Just back from 4 days at this delightful small hotel. The setting, service and amenities were just what we wanted for our walking break in north Devon. Our room (number 10) was wonderful with a view to die for. BUT the big surprise was the wonderful cuisine served up as the evening meal. We ventured to dine in on the...

Thank you for such a glowing review. It is great to hear that beyond the surprise that guests experience when finding themselves in such a stunning location, we can then continue to surprise them in the dining room and will not get disqualified after the start-ers! We do get asked quite regularly if we have started to take the views...

My wife and I have been visiting the Dunkery Beacon Hotel for brunch in recent weeks, which they have been doing on a Sunday from 9.30-1.30. They have been delicious and to be able to sit outside on the terrace and look out to Dunkery Beacon adds to the enjoyment - we will certainly be going again!

We are lucky being positioned in such a wonderful location and it's great customers like yourselves can take advantage of the fine weather and dine outside looking at the stunning views we have. A home from home very informal. Lovely Room 7 with lounge and views to die for over the Beacon and farmland, could have stayed at window for hours. John and Jane are quiet hosts giving you the small little touches, nothing too much trouble. We had one evening meal which was lovely, needed a good walk next day. Tips given...

We're delighted you loved your room and appreciated the extra touches we like to give our guests. It was great you were able to get out about and explore so much of the stunning countryside and moor around here. We were also impressed that Jane wasn't daunted at all by some of the more remote and narrow country lanes! We...

The photographs and descriptions on the internet do not do this gem justice. We had such a warm welcome from Jane and John followed by cream teas out the front of the hotel surrounded by a beautiful garden. The room was excellent. The shortbread biscuits and fresh milk for tea in the room were a real treat. Breakfast was superb....

Thank you so much for your lovely review of our property and your break here. It was a real pleasure having you both to stay and to find a couple with like-minded humour to us! You'll have to come back to sample Room 10 next time and John's evening dinners of course! We hope the rest of your trip around...

A true escape from suburban living, we only stayed for 5 nights but it felt like a much longer holiday. We had a wonderful time and were very well looked after, this was truly the best hotel experience we have had in the UK. All the little touches added up to an amazing stay, fresh milk, water and home-made shortbread...

What can I say that has not already been said? We were made so welcome from the minute we rolled up on our motorbike. Off road parking was our number one priority with the bike and to be honest that was the only reason we chose The Dunkery Beacon at such short notice. So many places frown upon you when...

We're so glad you chose us for your weekend break and that it gave us the opportunity to show we had more to offer motorbikers than just convenient off-road parking. Thank you for your kind comments about our food and wine, your room and the spectacular views and it's great to know that you both had a lovely stay. We...

Thank you so much for your glowing review. Its great to hear that the 'Word' is spreading and sometimes you feel that the enthusiasm with which people pass on their news of a great holiday or the finding of a hidden gem can be too good to be true. So it is nice to know that we appear to have...

Wow - what a lovely review. It's really kind of you to say such great things about our place and we're so happy you both had a relaxing, chilled out time here. I can only echo the other good reviews of this hotel. I searched for ages for somewhere to spend our 10th wedding anniversary weekend - originally I was looking in Dorset or Hampshire - but everywhere I looked there turned out to cost at least half as much again for an equivalent standard. I went for the 1st floor premier...
