There are few homestays and guesthouses in Cemoro Lawang. When we were looking for a place to stay, we discovered that there is not much choice actually. We checked three different places and the conditions were quite poor in all of them. Cafe Lava hostel was actually the best of them. They first offered us room for 400 000, but...

location was really nice; nestled among the mountains. However, its very expensive for a family. The jeep for the sunrise trek and the room rent is also very high. The staff at the reception was not very cooperative when we said we are willing to take on more travellers in the jeep if that helps split the cost..

These people just don't get it. With the same effort it could paradise. Rooms are okay, but blanket was dirty. The restaurant has a terrible smell. Saté had a funny taste, french fries drenched in oil and very soft, asparagus soup after one spoon you will give it back ( but pay it anyway) The tea is okay I was...

Pros: the price is good for econony rooms, clean room, atmospheric restaurant, hot water, good WiFi in the cafe. Good location near the start of the hiking trail. Cons: not very clean bathrooms, not a lot of care when it comes to facilities. Lots of people on staff who mostly seem to stand around. Food was OK but size and...

We were there at the end of October and had nice, simple, clean room (standard double). The cottages were quite pretty and breakfast was tasty. Staff were not the most friendly and were not forth coming on giving advice on how to walk around the area - instead insisting we would have to buy a jeep tour which we refused....

I stayed there for 2 nights just last weekend. This is a fairly basic hotel. Rooms are not fancy but are clean as are the sheets and towels. There is hot water and a western toilet. All in all, a fairly pleasant stay and better than expected. There is wifi in the restaurant and the food is quite good and...

We were here on September 2016, after high season. We slept just one nigtht. We had reservations. Group had different type of rooms. Me and husband had a big room, but we do not have a hot water in the bathroom. In the rooms is no wi fi. Group waited too long for the dinner (nice place in the top...

Nothing was bad. The room was clean and quite comfortable even a little bit gloomy. The staff was quite friendly and the reastaurant serves decent food. Desite not so good comments, we were positively surprised. However, the price was too high but the choice is very limited in Cemoro Lawang...and we arrived late at night.

When we contacted the Lava hostel two days in advance, they told us they only had a superior double room left. Since we wanted a hot shower, we decided to take the room, although I must say that for the price, it's too expensive. The room as such was nice and clean, but there is no wifi in the room...
