Very freindly staff and good food, clean rooms. Stayed two nights. However, there were some fundamental problems. Sofa-bed was not a perfect replacement for twin bed, would have needed better matress. Also, housekeeping missed out on making bed, the bottom bed sheet was missing! Manager responded promptly. In the damp weather new dry towels would have been appreciated. Strangely enough,...

This place is a little of the beaten track, but if The Stapleton Arms represents what pubs are going to be like in the future (I.e. only the decent ones surviving) then we're all going to be much better off. There were six of us for lunch including two children. Lovely interior, which was very open and airy in spite...

I have often thought that many reviewers are too quick to award five stars to some very mediocre establishments. It leaves no way of rewarding those that stand out from the rest and are truly excellent and deserve more recognition. I truly believe I have found one of these. Four of us went here on a Wednesday night and whilst...

Our third stay at the Stapleton was sadly all to brief as it was just a stopover on the way home to Surrey. Nothing had changed - the rooms are still lovely, the staff friendly and helpful and both dinner and breakfast were first class. Add that to a good night's sleep and what more could you want. Don't doubt...

Just left the Stapleton Arms this morning after a great weekend with my family. We took over the four very comfortable rooms and had excellent friendly service throughout. Breakfast is all you could wish for. We also had two excellent evening meals. We'll be back!!

I often come here for lunch. Great welcome. Friendly service. The cooking staff are fantastic and the meals I have had have ALWAYS been superbly prepared and presented, and VERY filling. Their gammon hams are massive, and the triple cooked chips are to die for. Their sandwiches are more than just sandwiches, they are a whole new experience.

My wife and I stayed for one night last weekend and we really liked it. Room was spacious, bathroom even bigger and well equipped. We had a couple of drinks in the bar, which was pretty busy with locals and then had dinner in the dining room. Really enjoyed the food and really generous portions. Breakfast nice too. We found...

Unbridled enthusiasm matched by a skilful pair of hands in the kitchen made this a memorable evening. My meal kicked off with a stunning plate of seared pigeon breasts, followed by an excellent plate of belly of pork. A glass or two of Chilean Merlot at an acceptable price and all was right with the world.
