This huge carob tree is estimated to be 700 years old. It's right next to the church, so easy to get to. Legend has it that Gen. Belgrano rested under this tree when he sent a message for help to Buenos Aires during yhe Revolutionary War, because the Spanush were comi g from Peru.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location - just above the main square of Purmamarca - 2 minutes walk to get there with a shortcut. Apart from this the hotel has nothing interesting to offer. The room and bedroom were a bit weared, although kept clean. Our room was located at the back of the hotel, to...

Not sure how this hotel gets good reviews. Location is good and the room is pretty with adobe walls and nice view outside. But that´s where all the good things stopped. Here´s what we got for 75 US dollars per night: Shower was so small, you will have a hard time if you´re tall or big. and it´s a square...

• Lovely little place right behind the church in a red building with a front lawn. Tiny room and smallest bathroom for a single, but fine for 25 dollars, with an awesome view of the mountains from a window that opens. Interesting knick knacks throughout. • Clean and comfortable enough. I did not have hot water for my shower, but...

Surprising negative reviews for this place - I enjoyed my stay here though I didn't do any shopping around (this was a recommendation by our guide.) I loved looking at the little knickknacks and decorations in the lobby and our rooms. Centrally located, next to stores, the church and restaurants. (though Purmamarca is so small it's probably hard to find...

The website for this hotel is at hotelviejoalgarrobo.com.ar. It shows (or did at time of writing) out of date prices for rooms. How do we know this? Because it shows 300 pesos for a double room with private bath and breakfast. So why were we being charged 320 pesos for our room, when it lists these prices on the website?...

Very small room with an insanely cramped bathroom. We were disappointed in this hotel and picked it based on the solid reviews here and a recommendation from a reliable travel source. The only positive was a decent view of the mountains out of the one window. Additionally, there was no hot water meaning no shower in the morning! When we...

Without our favorite tour guide, the Trotter, we would not have found this place. Such a well-kept, comfortable and quiet little hotel (although the hotel is bigger than you would think at first). A really beautiful hotel, located just on your right behind the church. We could park our car right in front of the house, very convenient! Our room...

There are loads of B&Bs in Purmamarca and its not until you arrive that you realise just how many there are. The whole of the town is really aimed towards the tourist trade and you could spend quite some time trawling through them from one extreme to the other. This small reasonably priced B&B is clean and comfortable though the...

This place was recommended to us by one of our most reliable contacts in Argentgina, a woman in the tourist trade, and she was spot on: El Viejo Algarrobo is a really comfortable, quiet place with character right behind the church, and therefore just a stone's throw from the Plaza. We had a lovely double room on the ground floor...
