We had the palazzo to ourselves and the owner gave us his full attention. A warm and generous host he could not do enough for us. He even drove his car ahead as we were leaving to escort us to negotiate the narrow streets. At breakfast we sat with a perfect view of Mt Etna volcano on a clear sunny...

What a nice family and employees. They went out of their way to make the stay special - mission accomplished!!! Breakfast was lovely, they helped us with laundry and even went as far as to set us up a private cooking class at the hotel. We had been traveling since June 23 and stayed there on August 17, this was...

A friend and I stayed at Hotel Florio for a few nights during our road trip around Sicily in August 2013. The drive to the hotel was an experience in itself as it is situated high in a mountain. The town/village is beautiful and quiet and there is lots to see and do around it. From the start we were...

We stayed here for two nights in October with friends and I can not say enough good things about the place. We were in rooms 314 & 315 and had an enormous shared balcony with beautiful sunsets, which overlooked the gorgeous mountain town of Castiglione di Sicilia and the castle itself. The clerk Carlo was friendly and so very helpful,...

Castiglione is a beautiful town and Hotel Florio is definitely the place to stay in. Fantasic views over Etna and the town. Beautifully individually decorated rooms. A plentiful very fresh breakfastbuffet, not only Italian sweets. ( A knight in armour in the dining room.) Carlo was most friendly and helpful. Near hotel Florio, 2-3 minutes walk, there are a couple of...

Got to say: was really happy with this hotel! The room we got was simply gorgeous, with a huge terras and a view both to the castle and to mount Etna. The swiming pool is situated 5-10 min (walking) next to the castle...absolutely lovely. The breakfast was very good, fresh and delicious products. The owner & the staff are lovely...

Three of us traveled to Castiglone di Sicilia to visit the birthplace of my partner's father. My partner and his brother had stayed in this hotel previously so we drove directly up to it through the narrow cobblestone streets (take a small car!). Carlo was at front reception (and in the restaurant and anywhere else you needed him!) and immediately...

We stayed at the Hotel Florio for 2 nights. We had a large, quiet, beautifully furnished room with a terrace overlooking the old town. We ate at La Dispensa d’Etna which is round the corner, an excellent family run restaurant specialisng in local produce, cooked by “mamma” in the kitchen. The Hotel Florio and La Dispensa d’Etna were two of...

“We had a choice of a room with a view of Etna or a room overlooking the old town. Both rooms and views were great, but the room overlooking the old town had the bonus of a very nice terrace.”
