The ocean side is also where most of the airconditioned rooms were. The older part of the hotel survived the earthquake. We have stayed in both parts of the hotel. It is a pleasant place. I am not sure if they are open.

La Herradura is a unique, quaint, well established, ocean-side hotel, filled with significant character, charm, and rich ambiance. One of the best patios from which to enjoy a spectacular sunsets over a cocktail. The proprietor Miguel Angel Viteri proudly showcases the region's and his family history with an extensive collection of treasures, paintings, antiques, and artifacts throughout. A traditional restaurant...

An extraordinary visit with the best service! Lovely beach views over the Pacific Ocean, the rising and setting sun. The terrace area on the second floor has so much charm inviting you to read, play a game of solitaire or laugh with friends! The decor of the hotel is divine. The restaurant serves delicious ceviches, with plantains of all sorts...

La Piedra Hotel is across the street and it three times the cost to stay there. Granted it is a slightly more modern and better kept hotel, but 3X the price. Stay at La Herradura and have a great lunch and dinner with the money you save. The people are very nice and helpful, wifi was limited to a common...

We arrived at 1 AM without reservations, but with the recommendation of a local who kindly helped us find a value proposition with the three-floor La Herradura. We were graciously received by night staff and the distinguished looking Senor Miguel Angel Viteri Milinari, Proprietor. We were appreciative of the lovely (for us) basic, furnished white room with unique lampshades. It...

I have stayed in this hotel twice, on my way to Atacames and on my way from Atacames. The first time my room was on the first floor and it was less than comfortable, but cheap - only $25 a night, breakfast NOT included. The second time I had a room with a balcony and very nice French country decor....

This 100+ year old hotel is on the beach in Bahia in a very nice safe neighborhood. We watched a spectacular sunset on the Pacific Ocean and then went inside and had a delicious dinner. The first floor is filled with stunning antiques the family brought with them from Spain over 100 years ago. They showed us a room which...

I stayed at this place around 40 years ago when Bahía was a quaint little fishing village and La Herradura was in its prime. We dropped in for a evening meal and were confronted by what can only be described as a pretentious and querky museum-like ground floor divided into tasteless themed seating áreas. As Bahía is devoid of any...

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you did not find our hotel installations, food and the city according to what you expected. Bahia is a small city, with plenty of places to eat. Our restaurant and cafeteria feature countless antiques and historic objects, collected carefully since we opened almost 50 years ago. These objects were used in...

I ate here several times in the months that I lived in Bahia. The food is good but not extremely well seasoned or imaginative. It's a good place for breakfast and a view of the sea but not special and is a bit pricey for what is served. I liked the decor and it was quiet and sadly almost deserted...
