JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar is celebrated for its meticulous cleanliness and spacious rooms that offer breathtaking views, with many guests enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, complete with nightly entertainment that appeals to various age groups. The resort's prime location is a hit for those looking to dive into local activities.
While some travelers caution about thin walls and sporadic housekeeping, the amenities, including diverse dining options and beachfront access, receive high marks. However, opinions on value vary with some guests feeling the cost doesn't always match the experience.

Celebrated New Years at the Grand and would definitely do this again - food and fireworks were amazing. As repeat guests we appreciated many “welcome back” greetings from several staff members who remembered us from previous visits. We visited all the a la carte restaurants and enjoyed every meal.
A special thank you to Alberto for his excellent service and the lovely cheese plate at L’Atelier, to Adriana for remembering our sparkling wine in the afternoons by the quiet pool and to Oscar and Salin (star fiends). Thanks to staff like these, we keep coming back year after year.
We enjoyed our daily walks along the ocean which was seaweed free the entire week. Our previous visit in May 2018 was a time of large amounts of seaweed every day so we didn’t go in the ocean. This visit we had several fun days in the waves.
The star friends continue to update the daily program which was different from our spring visit. We participated in wine and tequila tasting with the new sommelier and had many great conversations with Octavio who was always checking to ensure we were enjoying our stay.
We’ve been coming to this location for 15 years , initially to the Paraiso Maya with our children and the to the Grand for the last 6 years. We have never come home disappointed with our choice of vacation destination. We are already dreaming of our next “ Grand” vacation!

Stayed at The Grand Paraiso April 30-May 7 as IB CLub members. We upgraded from the Maya for the week at a reasonable amount (85 per night). This was well worth it for us. Met by Mar, the fabulously accommodating Club Concierge, in the Prestige area. All check in procedures comfortably taken care of there. We were introduced to our butler, John, who escorted us to our room and made sure all our requests were met. Love the pillow menu, adjusted the pre-set temp to a lower degree, made sure we had ice in the room daily. THe room was very large and comfortable. Beds were super, very quiet, carpeted hallways and enclosed hallways, versus outside hallways and entrances. Upgraded room service menu was a great option. Even enjoyed breakfast in the room. The Club concierge's , Mar, Laura, Illiana, checked in with us numerous times a day. They scheduled our spa treatments, assisted us to stop by a local pharmacy. They are rea; professionals who genuinely care about your stay and will do everything possible on your behalf for a wonderful vacation. They scheduled our required covid test as we checked in. So easy and efficient with results instantly, and a printed copy in our room for use at departure with the airlines. The Covid protocols in the hotel and restaurants are excellent with masks required while ordering and or going through the buffet, which is served to you by masked and face shielded staff. We loved not having to make a reservation for the ala carte restaurants for dinner ( except the teppanyaki) . IT made for such a relaxing day, not having to hurry to be somewhere at a certain time. The Spa is amazing both at THe Grand adn in the shopping center ( Cheers to Esther!!).All staff in every area of the resort have masks and face shield on at all time. We felt extremely safe here and appreciate all of Iberostar's efforts to ensure as safe an experience for guests as possible. Do not hesitate to book a trip there as soon as you are able! Can't wait to go back. THank you IB for another memorable vacation.

This was a second trip to this resort for my husband, sister and myself and we brought my 21 year old niece with us for her first trip to MX. We want to say thank you to the staff here for providing outstanding service. Many of the team here referred to us by name when they saw us, which= when you consider how many people go through the resort every week- is truly impressive.
Our trip started off great with check in in the lobby bar and Lorena came over to wish my husband a Happy Birthday and was funny motioning behind his back while telling me to read my email. The email instructed us to select a night and a restaurant for a reservation to celebrate my Husbands B.D,, We selected Toni's and they had rose petals on our table and the singing waitstaff brought a candle in his dessert after a fabulous meal.
On our last visit we stayed ocean front but, this time we stayed in a Superior Suite and we were happy with the room and location. Our room was kept spotless everyday and our maid Yuridia made a towel B.D. cake covered in rose pedals the day of the birthday celebration. Turndown service was consistent every night.
Our butler, Angel was wonderful during our visit and had champagne and macaroons delivered to our room with a B.D. message from the staff. When I asked about laundry services he personally took 2 dresses to be pressed and returned them to our closet and found me at the pool to tell me they were ready to wear. This is the type of superb service that we received at this beautiful resort. Angel's assignment was changed to the villas but, he always remembered me when he saw me. Then John was our butler and he was also great to my sister and niece. On our last day Fer introduced himself and printed our boarding passes. All of these butlers greeting us by name and checking in with us often to insure our vacations was going well.
We had excellent food for every meal. The favorite is a tie between Toni's and L'Atelier. We normally eat a big breakfast but, we ended up having burgers that were grilled by the pool which were delicious and also La Brisa is a buffet or you can order off of the menu. Service there was excellent.
The entertainment team was friendly and especially made my niece laugh everyday. (A young girl traveling with 3 old folks!) Especially Arron, Juan and Gabriel. We appreciate their work and the long hours they put in everyday.
We were pool people this trip and we always feel so spoiled when our loungers are made up for us with 3 towels, including one for a pillow. This happened everyday with Mirna, who is so friendly and helpful. My husband uses a scooter and she offered to have a chair brought over for him which was then automatically brought over everyday. On her day off Manual took over and also remembered to bring the chair for my husband. The beach was red-flagged for most of our trip and the sargassum was present which is happening this time of the year and not a reflection of the resort.
Finally, we just want to say that the Grand is a beautiful resort but, as so many have stated, it is the staff and the outstanding service that they provide that makes this resort so wonderful. Thank-you to everyone who made our trip one to remember.

We were "welcomed home" when we arrived. Beautiful surroundings inside & out! The lobby, rooms, pool area & restaurants, were spotless, organized, & relaxing. Food was delicious. All the staff were fantastic including groundskeepers, housekeeping, concierge, butlers, chefs, pool workers, etc. Special thanks to Gerardo/Jerry & Mauro our butlers that took care of our every need, Alberto who served us breakfast/ lunch most days was the nicest person, Hector the concierge at the Lindo shopping center who was so attentive to us, Daniel the lobby bartender who was a perfectionist serving us the best drinks, & Kathryn at the Amstar desk who arranged our off resort activity. Special thanks to the housekeeping ladies who's names I unfortunately misplaced for keeping our room so clean & orderly. We stayed in room 7035. The beach was beautiful but had some rocks in the water & was a little rough for me. One quibble with the beach was when rowdy teenagers from the family friendly resort next door moved onto the beach. I was told by 2 Iberostar Grand workers it's allowed which was confusing since it's adult only! Iberostar Grand Rose Hall in Jamaica checked wrist bands at entrances to their beach so we didn't have this problem there. One off resort activity we did was "Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling" with Cancun Adventures. The crew on Boat 10 was great but with 30 guests on board it was too crowded for us! Otherwise it was a near perfect vacation & we would definitely return!

This resort is very nice. It’s mainly geared to the older crowd. I came out here for my 30th birthday. I had a really good time relaxing. The dinner food is very good! I was very surprised by the food. I’ve stayed at many resorts and the food quality is really good. The Japanese hibachi restaurant is closed right now so we had to go to the next door lower end Iberostar to have hibachi. It’s cool going to another resort to access their amenities but that resort did not have high-end alcohol as the grand has. I like that this resort offers things like crab legs in which most resorts don’t. The steakhouse Toni’s is really good! Good boneless rib eye! I had a small room issue at first but the manager Ana took good care of it. The only food I didn’t like much was the lunch buffet at the La Brisa, it’s very slim on options. I didn’t like the room service food either. The room service food was sometimes cold. I understand because COVID things have changed such as nightly entertainment. The nightly entertainment is great if you are older. There were shows like “a tribute to the queen” and boogie nights. Those events catered to people who like the 70s and older types of music. If you are in my age group or younger nighttime will not have much to offer. They have karaoke some nights at 10:30 but no one went to it. The beach is nice with beds that are included. Only some parts of the beach can swim on due to high tide and rocks in the water. I would definitely come back if I am looking for a resort In which I can relax and don’t want to do much activity.

The wife and I just returned from our 3 night stay at the Grand. We have been to two other resorts in the past 3 years (El Dorado Karisma resorts in Cancun). This was our first Iberostar stay.
We were very concerned when booking that the pool bar wouldn't be open but when we arrived we learned they just opened it and the Grand needed the pool bar open to keep pool guests entertained as the pool butlers aren't numerous enough to keep all of the guests (60% capacity) serviced. We ate at the Italian, French and Surf and Turf restaurant. The food was okay but it wasn't anything to rave about, previous resorts were significantly better. I would say there are a few extremely good dishes and then the remainder was average at best. The breakfast and lunch are both buffet, which was okay but again nothing spectacular. We got room service once late night and the burger and the pizzas were good. The entertainment was top notch, the 9:30 PM events always kept us from going back to our rooms after dinner. The DJ bar and the piano near the lobby provided later entertainment usually closing around 1pm.
The room butler Luis was fantastic, he was always in the area and helped with our every request. Aaron and Gabriel were fantastic as well, they kept things light even if we didn't want to participate in any of the beach or pool events. It was faster to go to the bar than to have a butler come and provide you a drink, maybe that is COVID related and staffing is short, but our previous experiences seemed much more hand and foot service.
COVID testing is well set-up, it takes a while to get scheduled but once you have your time it takes about 2 minutes and its just getting to the testing location that takes about 5-10 minutes each way.
We usually tip really well, but exchanging bills was a task, the front desk doesn't have many singles. So I would recommend bringing smaller bills as well as converting to pesos before as it helps out the staff in not having to deal with the conversion and exchange rates.
The resort is older and does need some new paint and maybe a face lift but it was really pretty in some of the architecture it has. The main pool is an infinity pool and is very large, it also has 4 jacuzzi tubs that we used a lot, partially for warmth but also because the depth of the main pool is about 4.5 feet so it was pretty difficult to not congregate into the shallower sections.
We had an oceanfront room on the second floor in the 70 building, the view is nice and the room was nice as well. The bathroom soap fixtures never stayed attached but that was about the only issue we had with the room.
The beach is rocky, but there are places you can walk to that allow you to go into the water but we preferred to stay in the beach cabanas or head to the pool. There is a lot of seaweed but that's a product of being on the ocean front.
All in all the resort is average, loved the staff members and the entertainment but we likely not return to the Grand. Nothing wrong with it but I think there are better places with comprable costs.

While the pickup from the airport was a bit chaotic, Amstar greeted us right away and told us where to go. Upon check in we had our temps checked, was given a welcome beverage and met practically the whole front desk staff. We were able to schedule our Covid tests right away. Whew. Hector, a 12 year employee took us to our room and Daniel welcomed us right away making sure we had the beverages we needed in our room. They even have a pillow menu! We chose the pool view so got to see when the hot tubs were not crowded.
Miguel greeted us on the beach after we got our suits on. Usually all-inclusive means awful drinks. Not here! He even remembered our names the next day. Could be because we tipped with each drink, something I saw other people not doing.
The lunch buffet was my favorite as there were lots of options and bomb guacamole. The Mexican buffet on Saturday was awesome. Don’t expect buffet for dinner during the week. Monday thru Friday seemed to be Italian Japanese French or Surf n Turf.
Best drinks served on the beach. The pool drinks tasted a little cheaper. If you’re missing your coffee, order the frozen mocha.
If you like hobie cats, they were readily available and the beach was a beautiful view. There were jet skis and parasailing if that’s your thing. Not many fish but lots of birds and a few coatis on the property.
Covid testing process super organized and easy.
Have a great time!

This was my 5th trip to this Grand and have been to both the Grands in Jamaica and Punta Cana many times so I do have something to compare to. Each time I go, I find the value is not worth the cost, but I cross my fingers hoping something has changed. If you want coffee after dinner, one must take a golf cart to the Maya which has a great coffee shop and a nice common/bar area to sit and have a drink. The Grand has neither of these, just a gloried boring hotel. The staff is awesome. They work very hard, but often do not have the tools to make their jobs easier. The Butlers are useless! They stand around playing on their cell phones and don't do much of anything. They did back in 2014, but not today. The food at the buffet is pretty bland. Breakfast is the best meal, and lunch and dinner seem to be the same food just moved around the room. Many of the people working the grills were in training and could not fry much more than beef. I receive raw chicken twice! They use to have theme nights, but thats all gone now. The buffet is closed many nights but unless you stop and review the kiosks you would not know when and could be stuck going to another resort for dinner which has its own challenges. The beach could be beautiful but is covered in seaweed. I know they can do nothing about it, however, they can give the guys the right tools to clean it up and the tools are more than a pitchfork and a wagon. We watched these poor guys work in the hot sun for 12-15 hours with nothing more than a hand tool. In the year 2022, there are other ways to clean the beach, but you do need to pay for it. We also never complained about all the rocks in the ocean which often makes it hard to get in the water, but as of now, you cannot even get to the rocks due to the piles and piles of seaweed. The sand is beautiful! Too bad you can only see the ocean! The pools are great and we did utilize these since we could not get to the ocean. If you have never been to the Grand, you may think it's wonderful, but if you have been there before, you will be disappointed and it's no longer worthy of its 5 Golden Apple rating and the high rates.

My husband and I have been looking at this resort for several years and just never booked it. We totally fell in love with this resort this past January. It was the cleanest most beautiful elegant classy resort we’ve ever been to. The food was excellent I had my first caviar there! I’m gluten-free and they went out of their way to help me with my selections. It was too cool to get into the ocean and all the pools in January, but I so totally loved the time just to be away in the sun relaxing amid all the tropical beauty. The spa was also the most beautiful one! Very tropical with huge saltwater pool — and get this— if you go underwater you hear piped in music! So cool! The first person we met was Ricardo — he’s a super friendly gentleman who made us feel so welcome! Asael was our favorite waiter! Gabriel is also one super friendly guy from the entertainment team. Mathidle was our housekeeper who beautified our room daily with such special touches and fulfilled all our requests. All the staff we met were very helpful and friendly and I just don’t remember their names but we never met one that didn’t have a smile on their face and wanted to help you. The only thing missing in my opinion was live music bands for dancing. We’re not really into the shows because after a long day of laying around and eating and drinking and then sitting for dinner, we are ready to move around a bit.

We visited Iberostar Grand Paraiso recently and we are still in awe on how wonderful this hotel was.
From the start via emails with Sanchez Josué (concierge) we knew it would be a good trip but we were suprised to have received the best service we have ever had. The hotel is adults only and very beautiful with marble hallways and so very clean! Our butlers, Alonso, Reuben and Irmin made sure you had everything you needed during our stay. We were treated like royalty! We had an oceanfront room right on the beach which was beautiful. The food was excellent, with lobster & shrimp on the daily buffet along with tons of other sumptuous foods. The servers cater to your every need. Thank you Kenny for the best service ever! Al la carte restaurants were awesome also with king crab and amazing tenderloin steak served in Toni's restaurant. The Japanese, italian and french restaurants also had great food with wonderful staff! The entertainment by the pool was so much fun. Orlando and Tsunami go out of their way to make sure you have a great time and you can see they truly enjoy their job. We saw several shows in the evening and we could not believe how professional they were. The Diva show was unbelievable, their voices captivating. The cirque du soleil show in the water was also fantastic! We were a group of 10 and we all hated to leave this resort. Iberostar keep up the good work and can't wait for 2021 to do this again.

Try going thru the Iberostar app… enjoy your vacation, hope you don’t drink Pinot Grigio - there is none … and god forbid you’re a smoker… you’re treated like a leper
Have not been to Grand but have been to Haven and loved it!! Debating on going back there again vs Grand bc we know we already love it but want to try somewhere different.
Yes - the ocean front rooms have walk out access to the beach and you can come and go through your patio door - no need for common hallway... There is very little foot traffic right outside of those rooms...
