We spent last Nov/Dez. 2 weeks in this great hotel. A wonderful facility with really wonderful people who ensure that the guest feels welcome all day long. We would like to thank LENIN very much for his warmth. And our little coffee fairy ISAMAR, we hug you. All of the staff were always friendly and very hard-working. You'd have to name so many names, the entire staff was always friendly and hard-working. The rooms were great, bright and clean, the food was absolutely tasty, the area was always clean and well-kept. The a la carte restaurants are absolutely great.)

We got off to a rocky start but once we adjusted, we felt this would be our 'go-to' vacation from now on. The check-in process needs some attention, as well as the process to eat somewhere other than the buffets. The line to make a reservation was unbelievably long and you couldn't make a dinner reservation until the day you wanted to dine. However, we didn't mind the buffet. That is where we met our great waiter, Estayler (sp). This guy went above and beyond to cater to our every need during breakfast. The evening shift wasn't as tentative BUT, we cannot complain. The food was delish every single day. We met the best bartender. Daniel! Friendly is an understatement. He made the best mixed drinks and greeted us with a smile every single day. Sure, there were other bartenders that made great drinks, but none compared to our new friend, Daniel. I highly recommend taking advantage of the catamaran. Eduard was the best Captain. He was very detailed in the little tour we were given. He helped our handicapped friend on and off the catamaran without even flinching and was so friendly. He too will be a lifetime friend. Due to an airline delay, our scheduled check-in was delayed by a day. I really think the Front Desk Receptionist was acting out of habit and not paying attention. HOWEVER, when we finally arrived, we were told our rooms were not ready. LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN READY THE DAY BEFORE. We finally got to our room, and it was HOT. Maintenance was on it asap. Our patio door was a bit hard to open and shut.....BUT - the view from our room was breathtaking. LOVED IT! The floors were a bit gritty - but you can't feel a thing if you wear your shoes. So the day before check-out we had to take a COVID test. I honestly think the little rude nurse should find her a new job. She made it obvious that she did not want to be there and made our last day miserable. Without going into detail, she was having a bad day and it rubbed off on us. We spend hours trying to get the results and uploading them to United. What should have taken 1 hour at most took nearly 4 -5 hours. With all being said, I still want to go back.

We stayed at the Dominicas Palace for 11 nights and overall had a good holiday but it could have been excellent. There are a lot of positives but a few niggles let it down The room was nice and spacious but then you had to pay $2 a night for the safe. In all the other all inclusive hotels the safe has been free. The coffee shop is a nice touch and serves lovely coffee and cakes. However the food in the buffet restaurant is very hit and miss with some strange combinations. The breakfast was poor compared to other hotels I have stayed in the Dominican Republic. The specialty restaurants are a nice touch but again can be hit and miss. The Atlantis was fantastic and the staff had a personal touch. The elder gentleman that served us was fantastic. Unfortunately I have forgotten his name. However the service and food in the Italian restaurant was very poor. You had to pay for the wine which was overpriced and it was not explained that you could add the cost to your room and pay for it at checkout. My partner went to get the money then at the end of the meal they just said it would be charged to the room to be paid at checkout. Overall the majority of the staff are friendly and helpful but there was very little information given at check in. We were given a map and told the safe was $2 a day and that was it. Someone helped with the luggage and they were much more informative. The WIFI is free but totally unreliable. I have never come across such poor connections. There is a limit on one small bottle of water for each person a day which is ridiculous as you cannot use the tap water. You can buy more but should not have too. There is a nice selection of shops on the site and these are reasonably priced. There are reps trying to sell you VIP packages but will leave you alone if you state you are not interested. There are certain areas that only VIP status can access but it did not seem to be worth the extra. However at times you did feel that you were treated as inferior. Overall we had a good holiday but it could have been great. I have stayed with other hotel chains and the service has been much better unfortunately I am not able to recommend this particular chain.

Avoid, only warrants a two for location and grounds 837192228 Stayed for 2 weeks during April Easter holidays. We had the same complaints and experiences as all other negative reviews. The grounds and location are great, beach is nice although loads of cigarette butt's on it, unfortunately that is were the positives end. Ridiculous ques for bars (15+ minutes) and al la carte booking (Hours for this, see picture). Ran out of spirits and mixes constantly, couldn't even get a gin and tonic some nights in an all inclusive resort, never mind any of the cocktails they have on the signs! Ran out of Sprite some nights so no soft drinks either. Ran out of CO2 for second week of stay, so no soft drink pumps or beer on tap. To cover this they literally stuck a few bottles of Coke and Sprite on the side of a buffet which sat over 100 people. Regularly witnessed beer being poured in to cooking oil, soft drink bottles to transport from one bar to another Only allocated a small bottle of water per person in the room, you then have to pay for additional water. Signs everywhere stating you must not fill bottles from water coolers. Buffet food was poor quality and cold, I'm not expecting much from a buffet but this was poor. Constantly ran out of cutlery, mugs and glasses, had to hunt down cutlery from other tables, ended up stirring hot drinks with end of knife or fork most mornings. Ran out of house wine constantly in buffets, if there was wine there were no glasses so you had watch for one or the other to get topped up, if it did. Al la Carte charged for wine. $30 for a bottle of wine I can get for £6 (around $5) at my local shop Went to help desk to ask member of staff a question, she sat with her back to us for nearly 25 minutes whilst filing some papers. When she finally decided to help it took 2 minutes of her time. Staff constantly talking, going in to the back of bars keeping customers waiting for no apparent reason. Staff constantly on their mobile phones, even life guards! Same music played all day, every day and at a very loud level by pool Our key card stopped working, took 6 trips to reception back and forth before they finally sent someone who had to replace the hole lock. Wasted 2 hours of my holiday stuck in room waiting for the fix. This also happened to another family we met. No Ice cream available throughout the day for kids, had to pay someone with a trolley. There is literally nothing to do at the hotel, bar the pool and beach, which are good if it isn't raining. One day it poured down all day and everyone was just stuck in the lobby looking at their phones. Very pushy, annoying sales men trying to sell either a time share or private apartments to buy. They introduce themselves as guides, or your concierge, or offering a welcome pack. They start with showing you what's where and what facilities you can use. However it quickly turns in to a long, pushy sales pitch. I named them PITAS (Pain in the asses) . 40 minutes of my holiday I won't get back. Some staff were pleasant, food in al la carte was edible. Rooms are very, very basic but did the job, Maid service did a good job.

We stayed for 2 weeks, a family of 9 people! We had a great time overall. The beach is amazing, the water absolutely breathtaking and the fish in the water very colourful. There are many water activities included in the price (SUP, Kayak, Bobcat). On the third day I thought I would try the SUP and went to the desk. The guy ignored me for a solid 5 Minutes while talking to his workfriend. Then I finally got to ask for the SUP. I could have it and was told that if I break the paddle, it would cost me 150$. thats all I was told. Then he told me to get a life jacket and I could go. No help with the heavy board. Very very unfriendly! a few days later a few of us went to try out some kayaking and SUPing, once again very unfriendly, not bothered. we went out and had our fun and my older son wanted to try a single kayak. The one guy said go sign for it and when I wanted to sign he other yelled at me and told me only 1 activity per day. I did not see it anywhere written that you could only do 1 activity per day. he said there are other people wanting to do it. well there were 5 kayaks on the beach waiting and no people around. Also when getting drinks at the bar (non alcoholic and alcoholic), they would ignore you while talking to their friends. and there could have been a line of 15 people waiting, they finished their chat and took their time. also most of them were very unfriendly and you felt like you were annoying them when asking for a drink which you have paid for as it was all inclusive. In Switzerland, the guest is king and always comes first. There you did not feel like you were treated that way. of course, they have a different mentality. But they should still try. Because if you gave them a tipp, they could do many drinks very fast. The whole hotel was very clean and the gardeners did an excellent job. they also always greeted us. the animals are fantastic in the park, so many different ones and such a pleasure. The food was nice and always a big variety. if you want to eat at one of the theme restaurants we were told that we had to wait in line sunday morning at 10. by 8 they were already lining up and I saw it and was one of the first ones. by time I got there he told me monday and tuesday is all booked out already. (how??) also he was very unfriendly and didnt care really. This should be somehow changed. an older couple told me they would love to eat at the restaurant by the beach but they cant stand in line for over an hour. the animation was fun, most of it anyway. some of the animators were a bit too much and too loud. Also the music that is being played nearly all day right next to the pool was so loud you could hear it out in the beach! if you wanted to swim in the pool with little kids, it was not possible. it was too loud. ok to have music but just in a normal volume. Overall the holiday was great, but a few little changes could make it absolutely amazing!
