Excellent place to spend some time with your loved ones in absolute solitude. The night is most beautiful and if can visit during a full moon then its superb... you will be able to see in the moonlight the Dalma Hill Range and its mesmerizing.

We went to The Weekend Resort last weekend and in one word the stay at this resort was awesome. The resort is exceptionally well maintained. There are 5 AC cottages and the rooms are also very well maintained with LED TV in the room (though we didn't turn it on :) ) and geyser in the bathroom. They provide wide range of toiletries.

In this resort they do organic farming and if you walk around the resort you'll get to see plenty of vegetables, fruits and flowers.Whatever food (except fish/chicken) we ordered it was picked from the garden and then cooked. The taste of the food was awesome.

If you have kids along with you, they will enjoy the place like anything.

This is such a peaceful place that it will surely rejuvenate your mind. There are few places which you can go explore from here. 3 kilometers away there is a place called Paharbhanga which can be explored in early morning. Its better to avoid this place after 10 am as it gets hot.One can also go to Dimna lake and Jubilee park in Tatanagar which is around 22-25 kms.The hotel people advised us not to go to Dimna lake after sunset and we abided by it.They were very helpful and showed great hospitality.

If you are a drinker you need to carry your booze. You will not find anything outside this resort. You can also order Mahua and their staff will bring it for you.

I would also like to do a special mention of their staff "Gobindo" who was very nice. This guy does his work happily and will always ensure that you are comfortable and enjoying every bit of your stay in this resort without any trouble.

The only negative thing that i found was that few food items (like Duck,Mutton) were a bit expensive.

We have just returned from a two-days dream getaway at The Weekend Resort in Shankarda. Firstly I would like to talk about the location of this resort. They have chosen a fantastic place for this property. Surrounded by vast fields with a small hill at the backdrop, it is the ideal place to detoxify your urban toxins. The whole atmosphere gives a feeling of peacefulness which we all long for, either consciously or subconsciously.

Now coming to the property, they have five well-appointed cottages and one dormitory. All the cottages are equipped with A.C., geyser, LED TV with dish connection, etc. There was no tea/coffee maker or mini-fridge, nor was I expecting to have them either. The complimentary toiletries were more than sufficient. I was in fact, immensely surprised to find so well-planned range of toiletries in such a remote place. Rooms are perfectly clean, bed and pillows comfortable with spotless linens, wardrobe and furnitures showing clear signs of regular maintaince. Bathroom is moderate in size and more importantly, without any stains or dingy odour.
Each cottage has its own private balcony, where you can sit with a cup of tea or your preferred drink.

Coming to the outdoor part, I must say that this is the best part of the resort. It is a vast area filled with variety of flowers, vegetables, etc. There is a small pond inside the premises, where one can try his angling-luck or just watch the ducks swimming lazily.

The food of the resort is another USP factor. Almost all the vegetables are grown in the resort itself, and the taste of each dish leaves a memory in the taste buds. The restaurant is neat and clean, as are the plates and dishes.

Service is very good and the hospitality that I received will be cherished for a long, long time in my memories. Kudos to the team! My heartfelt thanks to all.

Excellent is the only word for this beautiful place.Surrounded with Dalma hills, two tiny villages, The Weekend resort is no doubt the best place for trouble free weekend trip. The resort is a class of its own. The deluxe ac cottage, the toilet kit @ each room, the beautiful garden and the garden fresh vegetables .... In short....everything will mesmerize you. Each season is beautiful to stay at this resort in its own way. The owner retired navy officer Mr Barun Barikdar is perfect host for your every need. Come enjoy ...bask in the fresh greenery full of calm and quiet. Best for peace loving familes. Hats off Barunda...wishing to visit again very soon.

PLEASE DON’T EVER BOOK THIS PLACE!!

An absolutely atrocious trip courtesy of Mr. Dinesh and Mr. Varun.. it appears they did a favor by taking our booking and they have every right for providing us the most PATHETIC experience.. The place is situated at a good spot, though connectivity by road is not that great (there are multiple routes, wish you good luck with google maps).
Breakfast- We (22 pax) reached the place around 10am, to be served ONLY poori bhaji … at least thank god the poori’s were hot!! After that nothing..
Snacks- after requesting 3-4 times and a wait of 45mins.. we’re served cabbage pakoda saying it’s onion pakoda.. clearly they were extra flavored after being fried in the same oil used for the poori’s and many more things before…
Lunch- Firstly, I truly believe that the staff and their manager Mr.Dinesh made every possible effort to make sure we realized that “we don’t give a F### about you!!”.. from ensuring that we’re served tap water in glasses.. we had everyone waiting for literally 30mins so the 2 staff can serve us poori and rice at their convenience.. only this time, the poori’s were made of stale dough.. all items were made with so much love & care that they were edible but none of the items were tasty for everyone to enjoy.. ~~The Showstopper~~
Finally when everyone got fed up, 2-3 of us started serving everyone ourselves!! Mr.Dinesh did come in to watch over us at that time.. basking in the ambience..
I hope this used to be a good place prior to the pandemic but right now all you’ll get is stale food, Ill maintained facilities (no one knows if the AC in the dining room does anything after switching it on for an hour and more), poorly managed staff and an absolutely disgusting manager.. no feedback solicited, all we get is reasons where even basic water bottles are not kept despite a booking made 3-4 days in advance Mr. Varun was kind enough to bluntly disconnect the while conveying our complaint and Mr. Dinesh was so well mannered to say “aap kuch nahi ukhaad payengey”.. Some how such places of Sham still appear in 4+ google listings…
Wish if there’s someone responsible for this place reading this review and does something unless they also hold the same definition of customer service in the hospitality industry..

No night stay instead visited on 15th August 2018 with family and friends for a day-out. It is around 40-50 minutes drive from Jamshedpur main city towards Hata and located in a village called Shankarda. Majority of the drive was smooth barring approaching road from main road to Resort, which is through under developed narrow village road and one has to take extra pre-caution while driving to evade village kids and domestic animals. The resort is situated in the middle of the village and appears to be far connected with the emergency need, if arises, unless having own vehicle. However, on the other side, the tranquility of the place could be relished and refreshing in todays’ busy life.

The entire property is not very big and has limited parking space inside the Resort, but nicely maintained. The sight of various fruits and vegetables grown in the garden are pleasing. The resort has couple of hut shape rooms for stay, but unable to comment on their facility since not stayed. They also have couple of huts for sitting and 1 for bonfire.

We pre-booked the lunch and occupied one of the huts in the morning. The breakfast, snacks, tea etc. were served in that hut. On that day, they had received too many day-out guests and as a result there was break-down in the service, seems they were short of staffs as compared to number of guests. The dining area is comparatively small with limited capacity and families were waiting in the que for lunch. After a wait for considerable time and based on our insistence, ultimately lunch was served at around 3.30 pm at a hut. However, the serving was poor & slow due to limited staffs and had to self-served. They also had missed couple of agreed dishes, which later-on compensated by adjusting the price. Again there was long wait for evening tea, the situation was frustrating. Food tasted plain and normal, more like home-made dishes.

Overall this is a well-maintained property nested in the middle of pollution free farmland and suitable for spending some peaceful time with family and friends. However, unable to manage too many guests at a time. Further, hopefully they provide adequate safety & security facilities to the guests especially who are staying in the night.

We went to this resort during mid Aug-18 with family. The property is around 40 min driving distance from Jamshedpur city, located in a village called Shankarda.

At a glance, from the gate, the property seems to be like other ordinary resorts. But as soon as you walk towards the cottages you can see the careful plantation and the quality of maintenance. We saw lemons, chillies, guavas, pomelos and many fruits all over the garden. In fact even in the monsoon season, there is hardly any insect, mosquitoe or snake. When asked, the hotel staffs informed us, this was because of the herbal plants they had in the hotel premise.

Once you enter the room, the first thing that will amaze you is the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom seems to be unused. All the credit goes to the staffs from the nearby village. They actually clean the room with proper care and effort. Room size is moderate with basic furnitures.

There are total 3 huts for sitting and 1 hut for bonfire. During evening these huts can be the best choices to spend some quality time with your friends/family that even in the heart of the nature. We enjoyed our evening snacks in one of these huts.

When coming to the food I must admit that the cook here is one of the major attractions. All the meals/snacks they offered to us tasted awesome. If you are there, don't miss the fried chana in the evening.

Sight seeing are limited here. We visited the nearby village, Chandil dam, Jubilee Park, Zoo. But the most beautiful place is Paharbhanga, a river flowing under a hill. This place is at around 15 min - 20 min driving distance from the resort.

Currently there are 5 cottages, however from Oct-18 another 4 rooms (not cottages) will be operated. These rooms have even more facilities.

The package that the property offered was enough, we didn't have to take any food or anything extra.

I have already mentioned that most of the staffs are from the nearby village. They are not only diligent but also very polite and friendly. All the staffs work really hard to make your trip memorable. I can take name of Mr. Bidyut, Mr. Gobinda, Mr. Kundan from house keeping to kitchen...Mr. Saibal, Mr. Asit from management. Thank all of you. Special thanks to Mr. Chako (head cook) for the delicious food. The owner Mr. Barun took some time out of his busy schedule and helped us to recognize the plants in the resort premise. Thank you Barun sir for offering such a beutiful destination setting a benchmark in the quality of maintenance.

Why don't you try the weekend resort? It is around 30min car distance from Jamshedpur. Two nights you can spend here. They provide a very good package that includes pick up and drop from Jamshedpur, fooding, lodging and sight seeing. I can assure that you will enjoy. Rest two nights you can choose to stay in the city itself.
