Rifugio Sapienza is where the road up Etna effectively comes to an end. At this staging point you have a cablecar to take you higher if you want to go, and a collection of souvenir shops (some more motley than others) and fast food outlets. The main Rifugio is a big building and has a cafe / fast food restaurant...

I am an airbnb fan and stopped here by accident because of a bikers event 10km under ; I will continue to feel comfortable at my airbnb homes because they are so welcomely home away from home places ! Although the reception is very professional and the rooms have brand New ensuite bathrooms, the bed linen needs a fresh New...

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. Spotlessly clean, excellent restaurant serving superb crostini and pizza. Very friendly and helpful staff. A stones throw from the cable cars to take you up to Mount Etna which is amazing! Would recommend this hotel very highly!

This isn't the cheapest hotel around, but is ideally suited (and has a monopoly on the mountain!). The rooms were lovely, with nice wood panelling and super comfy bed. We made the mistake of grabbing a glass of wine in the cafe - served warm, in a plastic cup and charged ten euros! Better to wait and have a drink...

Amazingly great location. Excellent reception staff who speak good english. Rooms large, clean-ish, and basic. Rooms - noise travels. Lounge is really the breakfast room with tables and chairs and a small bar. The restaurant is seated on time slots. Nothing happening around the hotel in the evenings.

Great location - amazing landscape, handy for seeing Mount Etna, a good place for the sunrise, and a great view over the coast. Really kind, friendly and helpful staff, especially the larger lad on reception - with execelent english too. We also really liked their video of the eruptions, which they played while we ate in the restaurant area. Good...

We stayed in the two bed family suite for one night and it was very comfortable. The staff were very warm and friendly and on checking out I was informed that we would get a discount on the funivia for the children as we had stayed in the hotel which was pleasantly welcomed. We watched an informative video on Etna...

Halfway up the Etna sits Refugio Sapienza huddled against the side of the volcano. The interior is classic and looks like a wooden mountain hut. The rooms are welcoming and comfortable, Wifi is stable and fast and staff ist very kind and professional. The best: rooms are in October cheaper than in hotels in surrounding areas or at the foot...

We ate here 2 nights. Try the Sapienza wine. It was delicious. Service was very attentive. Pasta was so delicious we also had roasted sausages that were delicious. The second evening had a whole new crew and I wasn't so pleased. It certainly isn't fair to give it a bad review but I know the manager was there on Monday...

Hearty generous servings. Just the thing having scaled Mt Etna! The grilled lamb was so tasty. We ate both at lunch and in the evening which given it was late September was all the more pleasant in the welcoming dining are upstairs.
