My husband and I had our third visit to this hotel. Started off rocky since our a/c was not working in room. After waiting for engineer, who could not fix it, we were sent to a beautiful suite. The rest of our stay was so enjoyable, and we are looking forward to another opportunity to visit this hotel again.

Another lovely, historic Parador. We had a 4th floor tower room with expansive views over the countryside. The room was large and comfortable, with two small balconies. Breakfast was up to the P standards, with plenty of options. We did not eat dinner in the dining room. We had a really memorable meal at Casa Anton, and a nice dinner...

Whilst the building itself is impressive (likewise the lounge area), our bedroom on the top floor was rather spartan and slightly tired-looking. Bar staff were efficient but dining room staff seemed uncertain and unprofessional and the meal served was basic and tasteless. It felt as though, being part of a group, we were deemed undeserving of good service and decent...

You feel like royalty in the exquisite rooms overlooking the square. The rooms are large and traditionally furnished. On Wednesday mornings the square fills up for the weekly market which is well worth a visit. An understated and underrated town! A great stop before or after getting to Santander for the ferry.

My partner and I became a gold member of the friends of the paradors last winter and thus, we got a special deal offered for a stay this month in a parador and since we were already going to be in Burgos, it was just a short hop away to get to Lerma. Even the "standard" rooms are sumptuous and...

What a building! The Spanish state renovated a derelict ducal palace and have made such a superb job out of it. This building is astounding and a real jewel. The service is friendly and very professional. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean. It is rather good value for money, in particular when you consider is a staying over...

We stayed at the Parador de Lerma en-route from the ferry at Bilbao to Malaga. The reception staff were very professional and welcoming but there was no one to carry our bags up to the room. A good tip is to initially park in the square outside reception to unload your bags, check-in, and then drive round to the underground...

Did I love this paradore or the small local bar across the main square? Perhaps that bar has influenced my memory of Lerma. However either way, this is another great example of an old castle or palace which has been beautifully restored. Only here for 1 night but it was an enjoyable one. The building itself was quite stunning in...

20th October 2013; Like many Brits we take our car on holiday to Spain on the Brittany Ferry. For the final day before departure from Spain we like to position ourselves within easy striking distance of the ferry ports, either Santander or Bilbao, say not more than three hours of gentle driving from the homebound ferry. We have used Santilliana...

You can hardly believe that this palace and the surrounding churches an monastrys were all built in a very short time by trhe man who was effectively the prime minister of Spain. It is regal in its proportions and had the largest open seating area of any Parador we visited. Four floors of bedrooms mean that there is a hugh...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The amazing ducal palace at Lerma, now a Parador, is located in the upper part of the city. The hotel features a central courtyard surrounded by lovely columned galleries. The elegant majesty of this palace from the era of the Hapsburgs and its lovely interiors, with beautifully designed lighting and decor, will make your stay an unforgettable experience. The Plaza Mayor (Main Square) is opposite the main facade of the palace. At night, the lights of the Parador make it look even more magnificent and stately. The medieval quarter, Arch, Carcel Bridge, San Blas Convent, Santo Domingo Monastery, Pasadizo del Duque (Duke's Passage) and former collegiate church of San Pedro are just some of the treasures you won't want to miss. The area around Lerma is well worth a visit. 22 Kilometers away is Covarrubias, a lovely village where San Cosme y San Damian Collegiate Church and Dona Sancha and Dona Urraca squares invite travelers to enjoy a leisurely visit, imagining that time has stood still in the Middle Ages and that little has changed since the year 987, when Count Fernan Gonzalez founded the town. About half an hour away by car is another treasure: the Monastery of Santo Domingo de Silos, a Romanesque jewel which has become a place of spiritual and artistic pilgrimage. It is also not far to beautiful Aranda de Duero, city of wine, monuments, history and culinary expertise. ... more   less
