One of the best hostels in NZ! Amaizing location just in front of the beach in a beautiful spot with many walks to do around (including the famous pankake rocks) and a warm and environment. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well!

We stayed one night at the comfortable Sunset Cottage, located close to the main hostel building and next to the owner's property. The location was amazing, truly unobstructed sea views - imagine large rocks and strong waves. No hairdryer though, but that was just a minor issue. We would highly recommend this property to Punakaiki visitors.

We have stayed in Punakaiki Beach Hostel for a night and loved it. Hostel is right on the beach, private room was really spacious and bed comfy. The kitchen has a great view over the ocean and there are spots in the beautiful garden to enjoy the sound of the sea. Would def recommend it.

I stayed here for 3 nights and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, homely hostel in a stunning location! The hostel is small and therefore very cosy. I stayed in a 5 bed mixed dorm which had enough space to put all my belongings. Every bed has its own little light and power outlets which... More

Arrived at this lodging at 3pm by rental car from Christchurch on 26 August 2016 for a one night stay. Late afternoon weather was chilly and occasionally drizzly. I opted for the 'Mobile Truck Home with double bed' as I wanted to experience what it's like in a 'tiny house on wheels" - except that this vehicle was rooted to... More

There's not much in the way of affordable accommodation in Punakaiki - the Punakaiki Beach Hostel met this criteria and exceeded my expectations. The price is reasonable, you have ocean views, the bedrooms/bathrooms/living areas are clean and homey, free unlimited wifi and a friendly environment. Highly recommend this place

The Punakaiki Beach Hostel is a great place. Happy atmosphere and always friendly staff. The hostel is right behind the beach. Amazing view for sunsets!! The rooms were comfy and the bathrooms and toilets clean. Kitchen and lounge was great to chill out after a hike in the Paparoa National Park. There is not much to do in Punakaiki, so... More

We stayed at Te Hui House and, being well beyond Backpackers' age, had a room with own shower room. It was clean, comfy and well- equipped and we'd have no hesitation in recommending it. It was a short walk to the amazing Pancake Rocks and we were glad we did walk or we would have missed the Punakaiki Caves at... More
