For sure that they will pick u up from Pancake rocks Visitor centre. They will pick you up around 30 mins after the bus arrived so you can also visit pancake rocks before heading there. You can email them to confirm the pick... More

p.s. I did not have car when I stayed in Retreat as well and I got their lift. The Retreat is one of my favourite hostel in NZ!
