The silent trail as the name describes is a beautiful place amidst the forest in the hills. It is a magnificent and a majestic property, with a lovely deck from which you can see the whole view of the valley. They have a common room which gives a very homely feeling. The food is delicious. The rooms are clean, good and spacious with exquisite views from the windows. There are many tracks and beautiful sites to explore. The staff is very hospitable. The owner is very humble, polite and gives personal attention to every guest. Last but not the least, the 1.5 km. Track to the hotel was worth the stay.

It is a picturesque drive that gets you to Jilling. There is road work underway as you get closer to the property, but the scenic beauty of the place is truly captivating. The last stretch of about 1.5km is an uphill trek for which one needs to be decently fit. You can actually take your time and enjoy the walk as you take in the beautiful surroundings. Once you enter the main gates, it is all worth the arduous trek- your tired soul would have found its abode! The property just takes your breath away! It was a surreal experience sitting on The Deck sipping freshly brewed coffee as we took in the panoramic views of the lofty hills and the wind-swept, picturesque valley below. The serene ambiance just sets the pace for the rest of the vacation. One can chose to explore the lovely nature trails or just sit in the “Observatory” and read from a wide selection of books, or simply play some indoor games. One can unwind at ones own pace and just go slow. They have hi-speed internet connectivity which is ideal for those who wish to work from here or even students attending online class. Radhika and her wonderful team leave no stone unturned to ensure you have a wonderful vacation. The foodie in me enjoyed the home cooked meals. The team grows their own produce and also have cows which takes care of the in-house dairy requirements. This place has a vibe all its own and for me this was unsullied Paradise! I am definitely going to be back. It is recommended that one spends atleast 3-4 days here to actually soak in the lovely vibes of the place, while you just unwind, allow your senses to rejuvenate and recharge. This is an off-beat get-away ideal for nature lovers, solo travellers, women travellers, writers, birders and photographers, family’s and small groups seeking a tranquil, intimate place thats away from it all.

If you have some element of adventure and love for nature, you can try this place. Watch out for 1.5km of trek to the resort on hill top, if you are fit you will love it. When there, there is so much of warmth that staff and Radhika brings to you. The location is just another one experience. Just soak yourself with the beautiful nature around you. Nicely and neatly done cottages, nicely done living room, and top it with Puran Ji, Mathura Ji and Ganesh who are always there for anything and everything. Ask for what you wish to eat and they will plan it. Wanna at outside or at picnic spot, go for it. Not much to do here, but still lot to do. Just nature walks, sunrise , sunset , walk up the hills, watch birds and enjoy laid back meals at leisure but yes it’s a good break from busy life of metros. Markets are far and not easy to reach if you are not used to trekking. But amazing views will fill you- night views are even more beautiful. We were lucky to see snowfall. Cottages - Sunrise, Nest, Birdbath, Gardenia and Treehouse are nice and have a distinct character. Food - North Indian, and even pahari Host - amazing people who manage the place. Radhika brings heart and soul to the place

Location and accessibility : The place is located about 1 hour away from Bhimtal off the road to Dhanaunchali and then an hour's trek up a mountain. You have to be reasonably fit to do this on foot. ( Do get your hiking sticks) . If not don't feel shy to ask for the horse. The beauty of the place is the fact that it's not easily accessible . It's for people who want to be lost in the quiet seclusion of the mountains . It's a sanctuary so people who are looking for solitude , quiet walks nature and serenity and crisp clean air should head there. Its a place where the tired soul can come rest and get rejuvenated to face the city life. A place to disconnect from your phone. You can make and receive phone calls but data is patchy That said the phone does work and you do get data with 3 G .People who want to play loud music and big gangs looking to make merry should look for other places which are not only more accessible but are better equipped to handle large parties and have all the things needed for such merrymaking . As this place is remote and is a homestay and in a jungle you need to respect the nature , the animals and the humans who live here . The place and the property :The observatory is this beautiful room in which two of the four walls are made of glass. It's the common room/ Living room / dining room / entertainment room / library where the residents all aggregate once the sun goes down. This is where you can mix around with the rest of the occupants of the property which comprises of about 10 rooms of various sizes spread like cottages on the property. There are enough books here in the observatory to keep one busy. The selection of books is also very good and has something to offer for all ages. My kids were more than happy with their Tintins and other books as was I with my various travel books and biographies. The observatory has a DECK outside where you can watch the clouds as they unfurl their magic. This is the place to vegetate with your book and watch time go by slowly as it is . This is the place to see the sunrise over the mountains and wait until the moonrise over the mountains . There is nothing better to do here than this. This is also the place where you can enjoy a bonfire or two during your stay here with your drink ( make sure you carry your own as it's not sold over there ) . Walks and Surroundings : there is a beautiful 15 minute trail for the not so adventurous which starts at the property and goes to the mountain top and comes around to the property from the other side. It's like going around the top of the mountain . At the very top there is the most amazing Christmas tree I have ever seen in my life with a bench which has a view of the snow capped mountains if you get there early enough . It's also a great spot for lunch with your group and an even better spot to laze around with a book . For the more adventurous there is a trial that is about an hour's walk through jilling estate to jilling terraces which are the other two properties on the adjoining mountains . This is a nice walk I would highly recommend for those who are there for the silent trails and the whispering pines. Accommodation : Some rooms are two room sets and some are single rooms with an additional bed and some just single rooms with a single double bed. You need to call Radhika ji and let her know of your needs and she would guide you in the best possible way . Food : the food is awesome , wholesome and homestay like . If you want to choose between 20 dishes this is not the place for you . This is the place to pick up your salad leaves from the greenhouse which is a 15 minute walk down the hills. Come back and toss tour own salad to add to the food and relish the experience of it all. Thr people : the horseman Babloo with his horse kalya ( whos is as his name suggests a black stallion ) will be carrying your luggage up and down the mountains and probably you if you fancy a horse ride every morning. Mahendar ka kutta who's a frequent visitor and likes to climb up the mountain to check on the new humans trespassing his area of spread . He's a sweetheart. Naya the daughter of the silent trial Confederate. Ever smiling to dish out the momos or to accompany you on your many walks in the area and to show you around. You'll be lucky if she's there as she's in guru gram when she's not visiting her mum. Prakash ji the cook who always has a smile in his face when he dishes out the meals and the in betweens . Last but not the least Radhika Ji : the ever smiling hostess of the property whos energy and positivity is so inspiring. She would be a management guru if she didn't choose to be on that mountain with her team . How she manages her staff everyday while meeting and greeting different people from various backgrounds is beyond me . She's like the life of the whole place the blood that flows through the veins and energises everyone there.

We visited The silent trail in march. It was a really amazing experience . Its about 2km through the forest. It takes about 45 min to reach the estate. The porter arranged by the estate was a very good man to accompany you throughout the route. There is also provision of a horse for those who could not walk in the terrain. After reaching at the place where you have to stay is just mesmerizing and full of calm and freshness of the greens. The food served by the Estate is very homely, tasty and on time. There is also an arrangement for preparation of tea & coffee and snacks in the evening or anytime you wish to have a cup of masala chai. The staff is always happily ready to cater to your requirements.Do visit Estate to enjoy the serenity of the nature.” And do buy the local red chilles.
