It was a wonderful stay, the property was very interesting,in the midst of forest .If you wish to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city life and take time to relax yourself then this is the place you have to be.
There is short trekking up the mountain for 45 minutes to reach this place (can be little tiring after the drive)
The owner miss radhika is a wonderful host and she ensures all possible comfort for her guests.
The staff is also very polite and accommodating to one's needs.
The rooms are basic , room heater are provided.
Bathroom are basic , bring your own toiletries.
The hallmark of the property is the glass roof conservatory with dinning/ kitchen along with the sun deck.
There are lots of books , you can spend hours.
Food is simple and tasty , mostly organic vegetables grown in their own garden.everything is very fresh.all drinking water is filtered natural spring water.
Some points for improvements

Rooms /washrooms needed little renovations and modernization(stark contrast when you compare with the glass conservatory , which is modern yet connected to nature )

Better toiletries should be provided.

Nevertheless, it's a very good property and recommended and importantly 3 nights should be given to this place to completely enjoy here.

Dear Sir... we are extremely grateful for your having visited Silent Trail Sanctuary -Jilling Estate. We are distressed that the quality of toiletries that was provided to you was not up to the mark. Maybe it was a a mistake by our staff. I wish that you had pointed out to us there and then... and we would have made sure that all is perfect. the walk to the property is very nice at this time, however given the unprecedented weather this year, it may have been a little difficult... it is only 1.5 kilometer walk and most of our guests enjoy the sojourn. We are a boutique style place and each room is different... the conservatory is a modern structure while all our rooms are based on stone masonry... which is the traditional style of building in this side of the country. we do hope to have you with us again and assure you of our best services always. This place is a hidden gem, gives you the adventure of hiking for about 30 minutes to reach the beautiful place from Padampuri and true to its name; connects beautifully to Nature. The place is aesthetically built, with every nook and corner almost Insta worthy. A see through glass drawing room, board room style dining area, a rustic fireplace and a hoarders bookshelf, home cooked simple but organic food makes this a home away from home. The hosts, Radhika Ji and Yogi make that extra effort to make your stay absolutely delightful. They even organise a sunrise and sunset trek for all you photographers to capture that one streak of the Himalayan range. If you are looking to connect with Nature with mesmerising views and an incredible weather, this should be your go to place.

We visited The silent trail in march. It was a really amazing experience . Its about 2km through the forest. It takes about 45 min to reach the estate. The porter arranged by the estate was a very good man to accompany you throughout the route. There is also provision of a horse for those who could not walk in the terrain. After reaching at the place where you have to stay is just mesmerizing and full of calm and freshness of the greens. The food served by the Estate is very homely, tasty and on time. There is also an arrangement for preparation of tea & coffee and snacks in the evening or anytime you wish to have a cup of masala chai. The staff is always happily ready to cater to your requirements.Do visit Estate to enjoy the serenity of the nature.”
And do buy the local red chilles.

I went to silent trail with my husband and 4 year old daughter for new year's eve. It took us 8-9 hours to reach this small village Padampuri in Bhimtal. We hiked for 1.5 kms into the forest to reach silent trail. Its tucked inside the forest on the cliff which instantly takes you to a place where nature overwhelms you. We were welcomed by Yogesh ji, warm and humble man who manages the property and Ms. Radhika who i fondly recall as the queen of the jungle. She has spent most of her life years there which makes her familiar with trees, plants, seasons, birds that surround her property and other natural habitats and their relationship with humans. I personally learnt a lot about it just by talking to her which made my stay richer by experience.
The property has so many natural spots from where one could experience nature and just sit silently absorbing it all. I hardly felt the need to check my phone or even think of city during those 3 days. I guess this was a good sign of completely getting lost in a place like this. Every cottage was a private place on its own and had its own outdoor charm. There is a conservatory which is a common space for all visitors and one could sit there and pick a book from the vast collection of books from around the world. My kid was well cared for in terms of food and comfort. I did hikes with her into the forest, discovered a small old temple and did some bird watching who one could see taking dips in various bird baths situated across the property. Radhika ji is a warm and generous host who likes to serve the guests on her own despite the equally kind great staff she has. All 3 days we had our meals served at the outdoor spot where we wanted to. There is a deck from where i could see the sunrise and sunsets and hear the rustling of leaves deep from the forest. I saw some rare and most beautiful birds after a long time. woodpecker, whistling blue thrush, magpie, minivet to name a few.
The food was basic, fresh from farms, organic and soulful, served with love. The rooms were clean, well equipped for cold weather and with their own special view of course. The staff was always there to serve tea/coffee/hot choco in cold weather.
I absolutely did not want to come back after 3 days. This place definitely requires 4-5 days to really live an experience. I left a little piece of my heart there. I am definitely going there to experience another great season to experience different side of nature. The forest awaits, come home, be healed!!!!!

it is a relief and a delight to learn that there are enough number of people that appreciate the forest... Its sight sound and smell that is truly a healing factor. Further when there is a guest at Silent Trail Sanctuary who appreciates Nature it is great... While we extend the same services to all our Guests, those that understand some of our nuances that we may be practising in order to harmonise with nature it is a bliss... we look forward to receiving you again and again and yet again... the Goddess of the trees is waiting...

My husband and I visited Silent Trails, Jilling in November last year. We were looking for a quiet place to relax and do some trekking. Being fairly busy executives, this was a much needed R&R break. Silent Trails proved to be the PERFECT place! Its a small, hidden gem nestled atop a mountain and surrounded by deodhar forests. The rooms are rustic, quaint and comfortable. We stayed in a room that had wide sweeping views of the forested valley and the sunrise. It was glorious - sitting on the bench in the little sit-out, sipping chai, enjoying the morning birdsong and the first rays of the sun.

The hostess, whose family has owned this property for over 30 years, has spent the past 20 years preserving the forest. She has a host of interesting stories and tidbits of information, as much a part of the stay as everything else. I thoroughly enjoyed the warm hospitality, the fresh food (straight from their organic farm) and the super stocked bookshelves in the conservatory.

All in all a wonderful visit. One that I plan to repeat. Soon.

A retreat in the true sense. Silent trail is just the right place to get away from the hectic everyday life. It’s peaceful and tranquil wrapped in dense green forest with various species of colourful birds and enough wildlife to keep you interested.
Beautiful property with glass ceilings and walls, where the nature seems to flow into the building. The cottages are well appointed and comfortable. Lovely sit outs to enjoy the sun and the breathtaking view.
The hospitality is warm and wonderful. Great food. The staff is very vigil to the needs of the guests and always on their toes.
All in all it was a wonderful stay that I would recommend to my friends and family.

The silent trail as the name describes is a beautiful place amidst the forest in the hills. It is a magnificent and a majestic property, with a lovely deck from which you can see the whole view of the valley. They have a common room which gives a very homely feeling. The food is delicious. The rooms are clean, good and spacious with exquisite views from the windows. There are many tracks and beautiful sites to explore. The staff is very hospitable. The owner is very humble, polite and gives personal attention to every guest. Last but not the least, the 1.5 km. Track to the hotel was worth the stay.

This is a really nice and secluded resort nestled high up at 2000 meters at Jilling. The drive to the property is not long but the climb is another thing. True to its name the resort is silent, comfortable and with current amenities like wifi and pool. After we go beyond the fabulous location and the fantastic resort let's. Over on to the grub... beyond belief. The staff can cook up anything you ask of them and to near perfection. Great food . The staff here is dedicated , polite and sincere. Some that I remember are Kailash, ved Prakash, Mathura , Puran and last but not the least a great kid called Ravi. The resort also has a great collection of books and DVD. Still reminiscent and would definitely visit again.
