Abbotsford is the most charming home stay ever! We were a group of friends and families who stayed over New Years for a week. The accommodation is superb (the photographs and the way it is, is identical and accurate), the food was elevated home-cooked style and the service was exemplary. To top it off, the entire property is bathed in sun all day so if you want to have a day just take a mat and lie down (like O did!). There’s no other place I would recommend if you visit Nainital (and it’s environs).

Picture this - on a cold December morning, you step out of your warm bed into a sunny garden for your breakfast. While you are stuffing your face with delicious food and soaking in the views of the beautiful snow clad mountains, there is a tiny doggo trying to snuggle between your legs. Life is still, beautiful and your mind has completely forgotten the hustle-bustle of the city that you have left behind. Each day at the Abbotsford was an epitome of relaxation enwrapped in luxury. We never thought we would be able to spend 7-8 days at Nainital, but at the end of the trip we were longing for more. The hosts were exceptionally gracious and welcomed us like family. Being locals themselves, they could offer many ideas on the activities we could engage in. Their immaculate hospitality coupled with their warmth of making us feel like family is what particularly made us feel the most comfortable. We had an absolutely perfect time at Abbotsford, more that what we expected. This place is strongly recommended for anyone who wants to just be, spend quality time alone or with a loved one(s) in the most picturesque home, which actually feels just like a home.

We stayed for a week at Apsley House with a bunch of friends in December-January. The place is the perfect combination of hotel luxury and homestay warmth. Its aesthetically beautiful with a fantastic collection of books in the library lounge which is warmed by a fire every evening. The bedding is warm and cosy. The bathrooms are heated with great shower pressure. The food is outstanding and the service super- like home but much better. There are lovely hikes to do around the property which they arrange for you with guides as required. This is a very special place in the hills!

We stayed in Abbotsford in December 2020. We were a group of 9 adults and 5 children so we had the two cottages to ourselves. The location is stunning with a lot of space for the children to run around and play safely. The residence itself is a pleasant surprise for a hill home in the winter with electric blankets in the bed, heaters in the bathroom and oil heaters in the bedrooms. The two common lounges have heaters and a fire place too. So while in the evenings it can be very cold outside you’re very warm and toasty indoors. The showers have ample warm running water. The staff was very warm and accommodating of the needs and demands of a large group of 14. Multiple requests were accommodated. Food was very nice. Breakfast was always out in the bright sun and we got eggs to order and a different Indian add on, the aloo rissoles are a special mention! In the day you get continental from Cafe Chica and a lot of this food is yummy, did not get bored of lunch menu even in 7 days. The dinner was always Indian and really good. The spice levels were adjusted for the children easily. We had a fantastic New Year’s Eve spread of ham, lamb, roasted vegetables etc. Jahanvi the host is spectacular in a way of giving your own space but also letting you feel very welcomed into her beautiful home. There are a lot of activities that can be organised frik bird watching to golfing. It’s definitely a place I would highly recommend to friends and family. We had the most lovely getaway with friends and built memories forever.

My son and I had a wonderful stay at the Abbotsford in Nainital. It was a great escape from city life, while my son continued to do his online classes in the room. The WiFi was excellent. Cafe Chica serves up amazing dishes, which are well tried family recipes of the Hotel Owners. The rumble tumble eggs for breakfast and the grill fish for lunch were our favourites. Easily the best place to eat in town, for both ambience and quality of food. I could sit in the cafe looking over the hills from dawn to dusk. Janhavi the owner took personal care of everything and ensured that we were pampered throughout. For activities i loved the vegetable market , the famous wool store, walks around the lake. We also did a couple of guided walks organised by the hotel. The evening cocktails and cookouts at the hotel are so memorable. Highly recommend this place, it’s an ideal getaway in the hills.
