I stayed here with my family for 4 nights. Pros of this hotel - 1. Good location, right on the lake 2. Tasty food 3. Courteous and helpful staff Improvements required - 1. Wifi is available only in the outer room. Please make it available in the bedroom as well. 2. Outer room is dusty, blankets in the bedroom can be cleaner 3. 24 hrs hot water supply will be appreciated
Visited this hotel for a night. Service was so poor . There was a mouse in the room . Even after telling them about it. They were not at all sorry as if they already knew about it. Very disappointed with the stay in grand hotel. I wouldn’t suggest any one to stay there. Despite of charging bomb for a night services are not worth it. @ grand hotel management you really need to look into it .
I had visited Nainital during August at the peak of the monsoon along with my wife and two kids. Our stay was just for one night and we wanted to stay at a lake facing property close to the market. In our previous visit, we had stayed at KMVN Mallital which also offered panoramic views but was far from main market (you can go through my separate post on that). We had booked the property directly from hotel and we got some discount due to monsoon season. We had booked a super deluxe room at the first floor. The rates offered to us was only inclusive of taxes but excluded everything else. Firstly, this is a heritage property and as per the staff close to 150 years old. Hotel is right on the mall road and very close to the stadium market (a couple of 100 mtrs away). Given its proximity to the market makes to convenient to explore the place. It also has limited parking space available (my guess is that close to 10-12 cars can be parked) which otherwise is challenge with many properties on mall road. The rooms are old styled but well maintained. There is some restriction regarding availability of hot water. Room service is efficient. The restaurant in the hotel was also well maintained. The food was extremely good. Meals were cooked as it was homemade (neither spicy nor oily or overcooked). Even the rotis available were tawa roti and that too of atta (not maida). This is something to be appreciated. Common area was neat and tidy. They were lot of different types of blooming flowers pots all over the property. Outside the room, there were seating arrangement where you can enjoy the view. You can even have your meals there. Although it was on mall road, but I couldn’t feel any disturbance. Staff was cooperative although at the time of check out, close to 4-5 guys surrounded us expecting some tips. Management should check this trend. Some of the complaints that I have was No tea/coffee maker available in the room No dental kit available in the bathroom. Rates not inclusive of breakfast Food menu was pricey. At such price point and the competition around, it is advisable that these issues should be addressed. Overall, I would advise you to stay here if you want to have a magnificent view of the star attraction of this hill station i.e. the lake.…
I had 14 days stay with this hotel and got a fabulous stay experience! House keeping was excellent! Nice stay! Had good food ! Ravinder dongare house keeping was fabulous! Waiting to explore more on my next visit
This was recommended to us by couple of friends, we took two Suite rooms and stayed there for two nights. Management of this hotel is too over confident and keep buzzing they are the oldest and most reputed ones in Nainital with long history. But I must say there are far better hotels in same line with same view and in better price range! They don't provide free breakfast and the a la carte breakfast ordered was also not up to the mark. Rooms are of old style and are of average comfort... We asked for hot drinking water for kids and heating pads...we got ones but next night we called couple of times at reception but couldn't get and later phone was kept ringing no one answered.. small thing thing but big enough to make kids uncomfortable through out the night.... During checkout..we had some shopping work next to hotel.. we requested to keep our car in parking till 12:15 pm... did checkout at 10 a.m. ..for which manager was quite straightforward and said "NO...we have the process we have to follow... you have to take your car ..else you have to pay full roomcharges!.. .and he went away .. We have never experienced this kind of behavior ever... you stay at any property for two days...book suite rooms...and at checkout time after two days you are treated this way... At checkout time all 5-6 staff members will surround you and keep staring unless you give them some tip! Definitely not a very good experience!... try other properties ... with new infrastucture... better facilities.. and far far better experience... in lesser or similar price range!…
We were 2 families with kids, on our summer vacation. We had decided on Nainital - Kausani as our destination. Then the shortlisting of the hotels started. The first thing about Nainital is the sheer number of hotels available at different price ranges and the totally mixed reviews, which made our choice difficult. We were not looking out for a "in the hills" type of hotel and also not a hotel located in a very busy, crowded place. After lot of research, we decided on The Grand Hotel on Mall Road. They dont offer online booking, so you have to contact them directly. + Great location, very convenient to reach boating points, shopping on Mall Road, Restaurants, Naina Devi temple, Ropeway, Zoo taxi + Despite being located on the busy Mall road, somehow, there is not much noise that is heard in the rooms + Very spacious and clean rooms. The furniture is a little antique, however, the bathrooms are modernized. + Very attentive staff. + The restaurant prepares food, based on ordering, so it's fresh. We were vegetarian and found the food very tasty + They have decent parking space. + Nice sit out area, with a lake view and a well maintained garden. - At this price range, they should offer complimentary breakfast - Some of the staff are a little "tips" hungry - We were given ground floor rooms, at night, the noise of kids jumping about in upper floors is clearly audible. Some carpeting needs to be done on upper floor rooms. I'll recommend this hotel for people visiting Nainital. …
Nice hotel with beautiful view of Nani lake, good hotel staff but little High tariff.good rooms, with parking space located in Mall road.specialy you get Naina devi darshan from your room directly.hotel check in should be 10am instead of 12.
First of all this is definitely the place to stay if you are interested in a fantastic view of the Nainital lake. Probably one of the oldest heritage properties with a distinctive colonial British architecture and decor, the first floor suite room is really spacious but since the lower kumaon forest area is actually burning up this time of the year, the entire area and quite obviously our room was definitely very warm throughout the day and a ceiling fan or even a pedestal fan in the room would have been a great help. Unfortunately neither was available !!! Opening the windows during night only allowed some insects to fly in and therefore we had to shut the windows. Needless to say, this didn't produce a peaceful sleep not to mention the extremely loud "BHAJAN" constantly being played across the lake. The food was satisfactory in taste but definitely not in QUANTITY especially considering the price which was towards the higher side.…
this is an old property of british time but it is well kept. centrally located on mall road, you can view naini jheel from room, naina devi temple and capital cinema is all nearby. when ever you feel by just walk out to mall road or go for boating in naini jheel or just admire the view from yoour room balcony. rooms are big and spacious, bathrooms are also big and maintained. however you do not have a facility of heater in room and buffet too is not there. if you want to eat in hotel you have to order and you get it. overall good hotel but seems expensive too me. parking is an issue.
The hotel is in Mall Road and in this road parking is a problem. Taxis or vehicle driven by drivers other than owners are not allowed in this hotel. Even you drive own vehicle here parking is not guaranteed.
