Well equipped comfortable room with all amenities. Fast and reliable WiFi, fantastic view. Very good security, friendly and helpful staff with excellent English language skills and high professionalism. The hotel is in walking distance to fantastic 24/7 restaurant Bukhara.

As guest for over two months, I saw the good, the bad and the ugly. Appearance and cleanliness is good. Main restaurant is very good. Nice buffet with wide variety of foods. However despite enhanced security measures since last taliban attacks, security is still weak as guards stop checking bags after the recognize you. That's good if you want to breeze through but very bas as most attacks are well plannned leaving opportunity to smuggle contraband. It shares a common entrance with City Center Mall so increased local traffic means increased risk. Safi is a prime target unfortunately so it's just a matter of time.

Hotel is located in the middle of the city close to shopping, restaurants and you can find taxi anytime. They have a restaurant in the top floor which offers a very good buffet with many different types of food. The service and the food they offer in their restaurant is worth the money they charge.

I enjoyed my few nights at the Safi. Chrishna, the current hotel general manager went beyond the normal call of duty to make sure everything was taken care of. He called each time I returned to my room and was on top of customer service. The workout room was a huge plus as it's difficult to find good exercise space with top-end equipment.
It has to be one of the best neighborhoods in Kabul for taking in a little shopping on Chicken Street and strolling around the corner to the Zardozi bazar (good security and exclusively for foreigners).
Call and ask to speak with Chrishna directly, you will not be disappointed.

The new looking building has a shopping mall (where the prices are bit high but you get quality stuff here) within its premises. The location is central and the view is great. The hotel is quiet clean and the rooms are fine, comfortable, with a TV, a mini bar and a nice bathroom with a shower. The room provides a nice view of the entire Kabul from its balcony. The staffs are decent, courteous and speak fluently in English. So there is no communication barrier. The breakfast served here is also good. I won’t hesitate to stay at hotel again.

Stayed twice at this hotel during a visit to Afghanistan. The first thing that you experience is the security. One has to pass through a number of bullet proof doors and is frisked thoroughly. This being my first visit to Afghanistan, brings home the reality of the situation. However, once inside, all is fine and one realizes that the security is for one's own benefit. The front-office staff was courteous and I was pleasantly surprised to find almost everyone spoke Hindi. The room was neat and clean. Breakfast spread was reasonably good. Wifi was iffy. Overall, I think a good hotel for a business traveller.

With plans to travel to Kabul for business, I realised there are not a huge number of hotels that are appropriate for visitors (no surprise really), and the one that was recommended turned out to be fully booked. So, based on reviews on TA, we decided to book the Safi.
The security seemed fairly thorough as we arrived, which was heartening. Rooms were not the most modern, but were cleaned and well kept. The breakfast and evening meal is good, and the Moroccan restaurant on the top floor was excellent, although service was a bit slow. The downstairs coffee bar is a nice change of scene too.
The gym too was good, with good facilities, although it was a bit too hot.
Reception staff were helpful, happy to arrange transport etc, and help with printing things out. There's also a shopping mall connected to the hotel which means you don't have to leave if you need to get things.
Only things I would fault is that the wifi was rather poor - especially since quite a lot of guests would be using this hotel for business. Also, there's quite a dearth of natural light in the hotel - which if you are staying for a while, can get a bit depressing, though I'm not quite sure what could be done about this.
All-in-all, it was a relatively pleasant experience and I would recommend if you need a place to stay.

I lived in this hotel for a year in 2008-2009. The suites are big and come with a kitchen and laundry machine (not available in the Serena). The internet is decent and almost the entire time I had hot water and electricity. A sure bet in Kabul. The food in the restaurant never changes, so if you have a kitchen you can buy some great fruit in the city. The roof top view is awesome. The gym is small and busy in the evenings. The cleaning staff always wants to come and clean early in the morning.
