Hotel's Favourite
The staff are pretty much faultless and very willing to help.
Stayed in basic ensuite - good size, well appointed (I didn't get much view - but others are better). Sink leaked a bit, floor tiles loose in places - but not disastrously so - just a hard working hotel showing some signs of wear and tear.
The meals are buffet style (warm food on cold plates). Buffet generally has heaps of choices, but none of it really shines and some of the baked items seemed stale. Very good value, and the staff really care, but I guess there is only so much you can do when a couple of hundred people all want to eat at once. The fruit was nice.
Bar bill takes a bit of deciphering; but reception is very helpful.

I took my extended family away for a post Christmas break and location to amenities etc was important. The hotel proved to be much better than I had expected . Location was excellent, 5 mins to a large deserted beech, 1 min to a seafront promenade walk, local shops and restaurants all within a short stroll, and the amazing town of Santa Cruz La Palma is just 15 mins away by bus front outside the hotel. Rooms were large and comfortable, we brought our own kettles as none in the room, we booked a partial sea view and all rooms had a direct sea view which was great. Room service and housekeeping was excellent. All staff proved to be very helpful and curtious. The evening entertainment was fun although sometimes quite tacky but we enjoyed what we saw. The swimming pools and sunloungers etc were all great . Food was borderline and we targeted the freshly cooked food each meal rather than the colder buffet meats , eggs were usually stone cold so it was better to have an omlette made up etc. Drinks were cheap by UK standards, no water is included, surprised that there wasnt even a complimentary bottle on arrival. Had a relaxing stay and the island itself is absolutely stunning, highly recommended a few tours of the inland peaks and the North of the island. Not quite a 4 star hotel but deserves a 4 star review.

Lets start with the good bits, the hotel itself is in a good location, just a five minute bus trip from the airport, which due to it's infrequent flights on most days is not a problem.
The rooms themselves are comfortable, beds and pillows particularly so. Fairly well equipped with mini fridge, safe, reasonable bathroom with bath and the electrics have been updated with USB chargers included in the sockets.
The staff are fantastic, with the exception of one barman who was very grumpy and really did not want to be there. However, he was the exception, not the rule. The staff in the restaurant, especially, Nieveis, Carlos, Domingo and Eyder in the bar were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and they and the rest if the team were always smiling and happy to help. Their standard of table service, although a buffet service was the same as any good restaurant.
Unfortunately the food that was being prepared was in most cases inedible.
The meat, apart from the chicken, was tough, fatty and should have been placed on the sole of a shoe, not in a restaurant. Whoever is procuring their supplies needs to improve the quality they are sourcing. Most of the time the food was at best lukewarm and at worst cold, hence the placement of microwaves around the restaurant to heat it up. We have never stayed at an H10 where the food quality is so poor.
On the good side the drinks quality was good, with many top brands on the AI list and service was quick and very well organised, especially in the evenings when the entertainment was on, you had 2 or 3 waiters constantly touring the lounge area, taking orders and quickly delivering them.
They had a good entertainment programme with some very good acts, DJ Corny, a brilliant guitarist and some traditional Canaries dancers.
The pool area is very spacious, with about 4 different areas with plenty of sunbeds. As with most hotels, glasses and china cups are not allowed in the pool areas, nor is smoking. Both these points are very well controlled by the lifeguards, which is a credit to the hotel.
The buses run a very efficient and cheap service. Most journeys range from 1.50 to 2.60 euros and you can get to most parts of the island within an hour to an hour and a half. A 45 minute medium walk will get you to Santa Cruz, which is a pretty town, or you can take the bus , which takes about 10 minutes and where you can get connecting buses to other parts of the island.
It is a very popular destination for walkers as apparently there are some stunning walks all over the island.
All in all we liked the location, loved the service, but hated the food and would only return if this improved dramatically.

First of all the island of La Palma is so picturesque. Our stay at this hotel was amazing. Itās in a great location by the sea. We had a suite with a sea view and we think it was part of a refurbishment programme as the microwave nor the coffee machine had been used. Had I known the coffee machine would be there Iād have packed some Nespresso capsules as the coffee at breakfast was too sweet with powdered milk
The bed linen was top quality and even though the hotel was busy it was quiet at night. Breakfast was an absolute free for all with lots of shoving and pushing between 8.30 - 9.30am it was as if people were desperate for food !! After 9.30am it was calmer. There was a good selection of hot and cold dishes, meats, cheeses, fruit and freshly cooked pancakes. The bread selection was freshly cooked and delicious. The yoghurt was not good.
We only stayed bed and breakfast but there are plenty of restaurants nearby to walk to. There is also a EuroSpa supermarket within the hotel car park and the prices were reasonable, it stays open till 9pm.
Santa Cruz is only 5 mins away by taxi but there is a No 500 bus stop opposite the hotel which will take you into Santa Cruz for ā¬1.50. Santa Cruz is a fabulous visit with all the Canarian balconies and arts and crafts on display.
If there was one fault I could find it would be that the pool does need some painting maintenance. There seemed to be plenty of sunbeds and space around the pool.
There is a big beach very close by with a nice walkway, it is black volcanic sand like so many of the Canary Islands.
It was my husbands birthday whilst we were there and neither of us told the management. The maid must have seen the birthday cards and when we got back that afternoon a bottle of Champagne on ice had been delivered with a personalised message from the Hotel Manager. A lovely touch.
Itās worth hiring a car to tour this lovely island fully. We always use Plus Car in the Canaries - they offer the best rate with no hidden extras and fully comp insurance.
One final thing to mention the hotel is on the flight path and is situated almost at the bottom of the runway but itās mainly small Inter island flights with the last one leaving around 8pm. It didnāt bother us at all - itās not a huge problem.

Our Mountain view room had a great view over the rocks, across the sea to La Palma Port & the mountains beyond. The room itself was a bit tired but adequate. This hotel is huge!
The dining room is equally enormous, seating around 400 people & is constantly full all the time it was open. The food quality was variable, as was the selections offered from this buffet only style restaurant. The food on offer had a heavy German influence. Breakfast was nearly always the same with a slight variation of which kind of German sausage was being offered that morning. Your best bet for a hot breakfast was a freshly made ham, cheese & fresh herb omelette. Unfortunately, much of the buffet food was lukewarm at best. It was best to keep an eye out for fresh deliveries being wheeled in from the kitchen if you want it hot. The rest of the hotel was very clean & well maintained in the public areas. The swimming pools were spotless. Thankfully, the pools are saltwater with just a touch of chlorine. On arrival, you will be asked for a credit card & you will be given your room key & a card wallet. The wallet has your room number & it is the only way to pay for your drinks at the bar or with your meals. You settle your drinks bill when you check out. Very conveniently, there is a car hire company desk in reception. We hired a VW Polo at a very reasonable rate. If you plan to go and visit Roque de Los Muchachos or do any other mountain driving, a car with a bit more guts might be advisable.

We stayed just prior to the lock down so were able to enjoy what the hotel had to offer. Our room was fairly large and clean, the beds were comfortable. Our balcony had a sea view. We were fortunate to have a ground floor room so took the pleasant 24 steps down to the restaurant amongst plants and waterfalls and ponds. TV had English speaking stations and we also had free wifi in the room. The restaurant was large and food choice was excellent. The only problem was that at busy times it became a bit like Piccadilly Circus. Staff were pleasant and attentive. The outside areas around the bars and swimming pools were expansive and there was entertainment in the bar on most nights.
Overall we had a very enjoyable stay, the sea is five minutes away with yet more cafes and bars facing the sea.
It is a little out of town, although there are bars and restaurants about a 10 minute walk up the road. Buses run to town every 30 mins at a cost of 1.50 euro.

We stayed a week at the H10 and had a really nice break. Given covid the hotel was empty with circa probably 20% occupancy- I do not think we would have enjoyed it if the occupancy was above 50%.
We booked a suite with a sea view 3343 and it was a large room with a perfect view so close to the sea. Good facilities in the room (no kettle but a nespresso). Others just paid for a suite and had a view of a building site. The hotel is huge and whilst many rooms will give you a sea view, I would be very particular with the room type.
Location is good, Los Cancajos is quiet and has some amazing beaches and is about a 50 min walk into Santa Cruz. The hotel is on the east of the island so is the colder, cloudy and windy side, you need to head to the west coast for sun.
The food for the cost of the hotel was ok, we enjoyed it, but this is a cheap hotel in comparison so the food is quite basic but good value. My criticism of the food is that is can be cold.
The staff were lovely, but I suspect when busy they would be stretched and food would be a long wait.
There is a tour company Isla Bonita tours and johnas is the owner, he speaks perfect English, was and utter gentleman, good value and I can not recommend enough visiting the summit, rain forests and Tazacorte on the west coast. La palma is a quiet beautiful island, so unlike Tenerife etc.

This is our third stay at various H10 hotels in the Canaries - Tenerife was very good but Fuerteventura was disappointing and so was this one. Probably wonāt been staying with them again.
Initially everything looked great. Nice big room, lovely clean pool area with plenty of sun beds, large breakfast buffet with plenty of choice etc. But once you scratch the surface you start noticing the issues. For example, there is a very impressive indoor waterfall but donāt expect your shower to work. Ours was like a normal shower but with someone throwing either a kettle of boiling water or a bucket of cold water over you every now and again. Water also poured out the bottom onto the bathroom floor. Having a shower involved getting in and out as soon as possible with a lot of swearing in between.
We also thought one of the lamps didnāt work until we realised after a couple of days that it was the plug socket that wasnāt working. In fact, we only had two working sockets in the whole room. If we wanted to charge both our phones, we had to get under the desk and unplug the tv. Not ideal. Also noticed after a few days that the phone wasnāt plugged in either. There were loose floor tiles and the shaving mirror was also loose. Nothing major but not 4* in my book.
I read another review that said they had plugs with USB sockets so perhaps they are renovating and we had one of the older rooms. Perhaps a stay in the newer rooms would make it worth the 4* price but not the one we had.
4* facilities on show, 3* accommodation.

We were here over Christmas and had a good time. We had a spacious, 5th-floor suite facing south, looking out over towards the airport, with mountains to one side, the sea the other, and sun most of the day, which suited us just fine. The flights were not a disturbance, and in any case there were few of them and none at night.
There was a coffee machine, but we took our own kettle to make tea.
The hotel food was generally good both at breakfast and dinner, and the staff were helpful. We didn't try the pools, but they looked inviting.
There is a bus-stop right outside, and buses every half hour or so to take you into Santa Cruz or to the airport. We found the buses to be cheap and reliable and we travelled all over the island with them.
We enjoyed our trip and would happily go back to both La Palma and the hotel again. And, an added bonus, chocolate truffles are delivered to your room each evening! Incidentally, we booked both the flight and accommodation direct with the hotel, which worked out slightly cheaper than organising it ourselves or through Easyjet.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and I was lucky to have a quiet room but beware those rooms near the bar! Given the vast size of this hotel the food was good and the staff for the most part very helpful and accommodating. An exception to this was grumpy bar staff but this may have been because the bar was understaffed. We did not need a hire car as buses either from outside the hotel go to Santa Cruz to allow access to the north of the island and a bus stop a 15 minute walk away give access to the west and south. The islands bus service is great and we explored all areas occasionally using cheap taxis to go high or to more remote locations.

Hi, well, according to the notice board outside the restaurant there's a "no shorts" policy at evening dinner but in reality, lots of chaps wore shorts into dinner and nothing was said to them.
Sorry I have no idea. There weren't many children about when we were there.
