The old saying "home away from home" is what you get at Binh Duong Hotel.
I have stayed at this hotel both in 2013 and 2015 and each time was for 5+ days. It is a small family run place that is an excellent alternative to the larger hotel loaded with amenities. Each level has a wrap around balcony with outdoor seating which makes the quiet side street setting that more enjoyable.
The rooms and grounds are very clean and the family is always available to help you when needed. This is hotel is just a short 2 blocks to the river and the river walk. The fish markets are very close as well.
Prices are very reasonable, and the standard room can be $8-12 /night.

i was planning to stay one night, i spent 3 nights in Dong Hoi. The city is quiet, with no western tourist, so was really nice to walk around, go to the beach and all people where really courios about me, coming to me trying to say something in english: an experience i never had in Vietnam, where everywhere is full of western noisy tourists.
But what deserve 5 start was the hospitality of the owner of Dozy hostel, a young vietnamese guy which took me around the city with his scooter and took me to eat some of the best vietnamese food. I thank him even if I dont remeber his name, sorry!
Furthermore, the structure is nice, new, clean, friendly and with free bicycle!
If you wanna visit Phong Nha Caves, my advice is to spend few day at Dozy hostel (Dong Hoi town) go to the beachs and to the desert dunes and to book a tour with them: better choice than sleeping in Son Trach town, which is closest to the caves but just a fake town built for tourists.

I stayed in Dozy hostel for two nights and was blown away by the warmth and generosity of spirit of the owner. When we arrived late from a bus, he went out of his way to make us food, gave us information about a tour of Phong Nha and made sure we had breakfast before leaving early for the tour the next morning. A few days after our stay, we realised that my sister had left her jacket in the hostel, but we were already in Hanoi, a 12 hour bus journey away. Tran organised for his friend to bring the jacket with him to Hanoi and deliver it to our hostel, at no cost and refusing payment. This was truly appreciated and just goes to show how special small businesses like Dozy Hostel can be.

We stayed here three nights in a double room with balcony. Rooms are clean, they were cleaned while we stayed. Easy to book a tour to the caves at Phong Nha. Lovely quiet location in a leafy back street. Short walk to the riverside and restaurants. Can't ask for much more! 👍🏽

Nice room with a balcony very clean. Great staff and very helpful. Organized a motorbike rental for us and 30% for cave entrance fees. They helped us find bus tickets to Hanoi and even drove to the station to pick them up for us.

The rooms are nice, nothing particularly fancy, but they have everything you need. For 250k/night we got a big room with two rather hard beds (that seem to be a standard here so we didn't really mind), a mini fridge, tv, working hot shower and a clean bathroom. The door opened to a balcony in front so there was enough daylight if we needed it. Everything was clean and fresh.
What I really can't stress enough is how welcoming and warm the staff was! The manager in particular was sooo eager to help; she immediately gave us the map of the city, poited to all the places she thought were worth seeing and the foods we should try. We also rented a bike with them and got a discount cards for the caves we went to see the next day. When we needed a taxi to the trainstation they had it all covered. Truly amazing, genuinely warm attitude. If I could give them more points than 5, I would!

One of the most (if not THE most) welcoming places. The staff is great, they will do a lot for you, really. I arrived at Dong hoi in the middle of the night, a solo female traveller (not a pleasent situation), but they spoke to the bus driver and came picking me up at the place I was dropped off, really made me feal safe! Thanks again!!

Stayed at this little hotel for just one night while passing through visiting phong Nha. The owners went above and beyond to help us. They let us check into our room at 8 in the morning. They provided us with bikes, showed us an amazing local place to eat (best bun Thit nuong I have had in Vietnam), booked out buses and brought us to some local spots to see the sunrise. Room was basic but clean. Perfect for budget bagpackers or young travelers. Cannot recommend this place enough.
