What an amazing bar for food, drink and service. I had the beef burger and it was so tasty. The ladies doing table service were more than helpful and kept an eye on us and re filled our drinks. 10/10 for this bar/restaurant. If your in Dong Hoi you need to come here for a bite to eat and food.

This is a small place along the river front overlooking the remnants of the Tam Tao Church.
They have very tasty Pizza and Garlic bread with vegetarian options as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the view.
The service is very good and the people are very very helpful.

I have stayed in many hostels in my day, and this is hands down one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. The location is perfect. The food is spectacular. The rooms are modern and very clean. There is a hopping bar and restaurant on the first floor. The staff is super helpful and speaks great english. But the highlight is the owner, Trinh. Trinh is truly a special human. She sat and had beers with us the first night and ended up taking us bar hopping. If you get the chance to stay at Buffalo Pub, make sure you find time with Trinh.

Beautiful place with great location in front of the beach, private rooms has balcony in front line to the beach.
The hostel is very new and inviting, you definitely get the vibe to meet new people. Also the hosting people were so nice and helpful.
Menu has great variety of western food, and everything was delicious.
10/10

Was here for a few nights, the staff is absolutely amazing. They're extremely nice and willing to help you with anything! They really do care about their customers. The food is good, the drinks are great, and the music is really good as well. Definitely recommend whether it's a drink or a room for the night!

Great hostel with great people. Free tour was great, free beer is great, massive buffet breakfast was great. Pretty great. Zama the hostel representative is great. She also helped us get extra free drinks which was great. All round pretty good.

Food was fantastic and drink was flowing.
I would highly recommend eatting and drinking here. Here met some amazing people here as well.
You can play some pool and the staff were just amazing as well. Could not do more for you.
There is also a hotel attached to them as well.

Not everyone chooses to come to Dong Hoi which is part of it’s charm. It’s a beautiful area situated on the Nhat Le river entrance and the South China Sea. There are two quiet beaches, in fact you will have the entire Nhat Le beach until about 4:30 am when the locals arrive and the food stalls open. It’s really a unique experience to watch it come alive. The food vendors don’t bother you and chose to sit quietly with me until the locals arrived.
Now about the hostel :) Buffalo Hostel has fantastic staff, a great location, strong WiFi, good eats (western and Vietnamese), clean bathrooms and new bedding, happy hour, pool table and a GREAT soundtrack. They offer private rooms with en suite, four bed dorms with separate bathroom and six bed dorms which also have an en suite. A few of the staff speak English and if you arrive early in the morning you will have to put in some effort to communicate but after all isn't that one of the best things about travelling?! My bus arrived at 5:30 am and dropped me off about ten minutes walking distance from the hostel. It's easy to find walk to the riverfront and look for the ruined bell tower, it's almost directly across the street from that.
Traffic in Dong Hoi is minimal making it an excellent place for first time moto drivers or just to bicycle around the city. Phong Nha Ke Bang is a short drive away.
Just a few tweaks in the way of curtains on the bunks and soap dispensers could really bring up it's comfort level though is not required for me to recommend this hostel.

BY far one of the best places I have stayed in my travels around the world. Confortable and clean rooms, good prices, and delicious food (Vietnamese and western). Excellent for hardcore travelers and casual tourists alike. A beautiful view of the river in the day time. Also the staff is very friendly and helpful, specially Ky and Anh... and everyone else. I seldom write reviews but this place was definitely worth it.

Stayed in a private room which was separated by a thin wall to another private room so could hear everything. Was clean and basic with a hot shower. We hired motorbikes from the hostel for $10 for an auto for the day and they gave us a map and info on the caves which was helpful. They organised our bus tickets to Hanoi as well as letting us use their showers before we got the night bus.

Me and my boyfriend will be arriving in Dong Hoi at around 6am and are hoping to go on a cave tour that morning at 7.30/8.00, then return to Dong Hoi after the tour & stay at Buffalo Pub & Hostel. Will it be possible for us to leave our bags at the Hostel while we go in the tour?

I'm sure they will let you. They're very accommodating. Tour bus will probably find room for your bags anyway in the unlikely event that Buffalo says no!
