This was probably the best hotel in Dong Hoi! It was located across the street from the Dong Hoi Market. We planned to go to Phong Nha Cave and Paradise Cave and decided to do an overnight here. Not only was the property beautiful, but the service was professional and very friendly.
The rooms were very nice. We had a River View room, and it came with a refrigerator, 2 complimentary bottled waters, nice towels, a good high-powered hair dryer, and a rain shower (as well as bath tub). The pool was nice and quiet, but they did have kids there having swim lessons or something. Our room came with an all you can eat free breakfast, which had eggs fresh to order with bacon or sausage, bo kho, congree, bun bo hue, fruit, and breads. There wasn't a buffet and you had to order from a server, but it was all you can eat, probably due to COVID-19. The ca phe su da was delicious and made by a barista.
If we ever come back to Dong Hoi, we would come stay here again. Highly recommended!

Very well appointed and immaculately clean, modern hotel on the riverside near the centre of Dong Hoi. Comfortable bed and pillows with a decent sized bathroom and excellent shower with good water pressure. There's a great security feature in that the lobby lift won't work unless you activate it using your room card which means unauthorised visitors can't access the guest floors. The breakfast menu has great choices and the food is well prepared and served by staff with excellent English language skills. Highly recommend for a couple of days rest either before or after a visit to Phong Nha National Park.

We booked two rooms with city views. Positives include the location and the rooms. Beautiful building (externally and internally) sitting opposite the main river, across the road from the Dong Hoi market (fresh fruits and food a plenty) and adjoining the Vincom Shopping Plaza. The rooms are clean and spacious, plenty of room to move about and for excess luggage. I think a deeper clean would make it even better as there were some stain marks around the bathroom and walls; the floor to ceilings windows could also do with a clean. Bed was very comfy with a 3 pillow selection. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided which were good quality. We swam at the indoor heated pool which was nice, 1.2m depth all around and water temp not cold but not overly warm. There is also a seperate large jacuzzi area near the pool. One of our party had a slip incident poolside due to excess water on the floor, but the response from the hotel staff was quite surprising. Not only did they stand back and not offer assistance or ask if he was ok, we were pulled aside and told that any damages caused by the slip may be charged to our rooms. We raised this incident with the hotel management and they acknowledge that more training for staff will be provided. Also, we found that from 5pm, kids (approx 30) start swim practice so the pool becomes very busy and noisey; we also raised this with hotel management. This disrupts the enjoyment of patrons of the hotel so there ought to be some notification of this so we can avoid this busy period. We ordered pizza and fries from poolside; pizza was okay but the fries didn’t taste fresh. We didn’t try the buffet breakfast so can’t comment. Checkin was swift; no request for credit card imprint or deposit which was unusual as there is a mini-bar and foods/services can be charged to the room. Check-out was straight forward. There is free underground parking available. We chose this hotel based on our previous stays at other Melia Vinpearl hotels and the reviews online. Regrettably, we found this particular hotel fell short of our expectations in terms of their service. Note to management: A genuine smile, positive attitude and confidence to converse with guests can make an average stay become a great one.

My stay was pleasant and staff was very helpful, always asking what we are doing and whether they could help. The view of the river was amazing. Breakfast is great, particularly the pho but dinner was only ok with a cold sauted vegetables dish (but which was quickly reheated for us when asked). Though what has marred this 5 star experience for my family is the hotel requesting to retain the cotton slippers which they provide for us to use. We were asked to pay to keep them. I am not sure what the hotels intend to do with the slippers that we had used other than to throw them away - and if so why they would ask for them back. I hope they are not then provide for reuse to other guests which would be highly unsanitary. For a 5 star experience this is highly disappointing and rather incomprehensible. The hotel has asked for feedback a couple of times during my stay but only at this one last step has my experience been unsatisfactory

This hotel gave me a genuine 5 star + experience from the moment I arrived, and it didnt stop. It is by far the best hotel experience I have had in Vietnam, and most certainly meets international standards. The staff paid attention to every detail. An nothing was a problem. I had left my power cord for my laptop at home. No problem, they helped me sort that out immediately. I arrived extremely early and I was prepared to patiently wait several hours for my room. There is a very comfortable expansive lobby and open lounge floor serving coffee in the main entrance. I was able to quickly set up and work while I waited, and I didnt have to wait for long my room was ready well before check in time. I wanted to rent a motorbike during my stay, it was there within 15 minutes. Staff were always vigilant about Covid safety, respectful at all times and not only helpful but happy as well. The room was very comfortable with all the high spec amenities, and a decent sized coffee mug. Breakfast was fresh with a wide range of options and always replenished. Location is brilliant. The indoor swimming pool is large and has great views. It's a no brainer to stay at this establishment

When traveling through Vietnam one of the first things you'll notice is how friendly and accommodating everybody is. We've been pleasantly surprised on several occasions with how nice everybody is. The staff of the Melia is no different, they are super friendly. The hotel was undergoing construction in the lobby on arrival but the temporary lobby works just fine as well. We were able to checkin earlier (around 12.30) but it clearly was not very busy at the hotel. We also noticed that during not so busy periods, room rates drop with a third when booking with less notice. Our room was wonderful, spacious, super fast internet, big comfy bed and marble bathroom. The only thing we would suggest is to have the windows cleaned more often. It looked rather dirty although we understand nature takes its course here as well. Breakfast was made by order and was lovely. We enjoyed our stay here. Minibar is bit expensive, but that's usually the case in hotels.

The hotel was generally excellent but still has minor issues to address. Firstly, the bathroom door couldn't be closed firmly. Secondly, the wardrobe door should be able to close firmly to allow the inner light to switch off automatically. Overall, the cleanliness was very good, although there was some dust under the makeup table. The staff were extremely helpful and professional. The restaurant provided upscale dining, and the lobby was tastefully decorated, with thorough glass cleaning evident. Adjacent to the hotel is a riverside park and some small streets offering authentic local specialties. To the left of the hotel is a department store. I would still rate it 9.9/10.

We stayed here for 3 nights after our cave trip. The lovely staff and the plush accommodations was beyond our expectations. The room was spacious and spotless. Had all the comforts with robes, slippers, big bath towels and complementary toiletries (shaving kit,toothbrushes and paste, etc.). We (family of 4 adults) all had spa services and went back the next day for more…it was so luxurious. The breakfast buffet had everything you could eat with western food and Vietnamese food. Yum! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We felt like king and queens.
