We had stayed in December in mountain having suite room. The room was reasonably spacious, clean and adequate amenities. Probably it is one of the hotel which has AC in rooms. The service staff and manager are quite helpful wearing a smile on their face. The best part is the view of mount Kangchenjunga from the restaurant and rooms. Opt for a mountain view room and one will not regret it on seeing early morning sunrises. The spread of buffet is quite reasonable and so is the buffet options of dinner. It is walkable distance from MG Road, market area and reasonably warm inside during winters. You might need a room heater rather than the AC during December in a mountain facing room!! With the setup they have, can very well reach the status of a 5 star hotel if certain more facilities are added.…
It Is A Wonderful Place With Lot's Of Interesting Spots To Visit. I Enjoyed Here With My Family Members A Lot. We Had Explored This Place Couple Of Times In Past Four Years. I Must Suggest Everyone To Visit This Place As It Is Extremely Beautiful.
Rooms : Excellent , very Big Balcony view is awesome Management was very Bad --Had booked Buffet Breakfast but did not provide us Breakfast because all Hotel staff was busy in serving larger group of guest who had booked many rooms --Hotel Charged us extra 800 Rs for Child even if child was sharing Bed with us. --Hotel Property and location are great but management is bad. -- TV was not working in all the rooms , they provided set top box on second night --No hot water kettle for drinking water in the room -- Hot water for Bath is available only during limited period of time and not full day
We had booked two rooms in this hotel in mid June. The rooms made it evident that the hotel needs renovations. The balcony doors wouldn't shut properly which resulted in entry of bugs, moths and mosquitoes. The cupboard would wobble when we try to open it up. The bathroom fittings were rusty. The bed linen was very untidy. The staff is cooperative. The view from the restaurant is very good. Food choices in the dinner were repetitive over a span of three days. The location is good as it is walking distance away from the market and popular restaurants.
Although situated in heart of city, the hotel offers pretty views from certain rooms and being one of the oldest hotels has maintained on cleanliness. However food is pathetic. The buffet offers unpalatable food and is not even laid well..... Whatever variety offered is just not cooked well. And in era when other are going out of the way over presentation and taste it's a zero on the same. And the staff is not very courteous too.... The confirmed booking made in our name were not available at last minute
The name Tara "PALACE" does not match to its condition, its an average hotel not a luxury hotel. Though the view from Room No 115,117 (only superior rooms with balcony) are good but except the view nothing was there to praise. Poorest room service, bathroom doors are broken, towel and bed-sheets were cheap quality, king size bed was of name only, Overall at the cost they are charging its a waste of money, better to choose other hotels.
It was a lovely day which was ruined totally by the Hotel when we checked-in. Had already called up the Hotel Manager for a bigger room to accommodate a family of 2+2 and here we get a surprise. Hotel staff was so casual and said you can get the room which they would give not what you would select. Had to nod since the itinerary was already paid. IRCTC had planned for the trip but unable to convince the hotel to let people see the rooms first. No Welcome for the group and straight away; move to the rooms. Surprises do not end; opened the room and what you see "NO POWER" and you feel as if a deserted room was given to you. Now; you are fixing hotel things before even start living there. Issue takes a call to IRCTC, Kolkata and follow-ups with Hotel staff which lasted for 30-40mins. Next day we had a early Morning trip to 13,500ft so B'fast was packed and what was given; bread slices and a Mixed fruit juice for surviving. All the rooms given to the group were facing road and not the great club views on the other side. One family did not budge and finally got lucky to get mountain-view room. On asking for additional bed at 7PM; the same was not arranged till 10PM. Kids were half-asleep; requested Hotel Attendant at the reception and another surprise. He was so arrogant that I had to ask him to dial Hotel Manager and the reply was "I am the Hotel Manager". Then they arranged a 3-4 inch low grade mattress as a separate bed. How pathetic. On a second thought; they put another mattress on top of it to convince us. Finally; we were just waiting for the checkout to happen and leave the hotel ASAP.…
Except good view from balcony ( only superior rooms) and nearby MG Road access nothing is good about it rather worst.... 1. No lift 2. Bad housekeeping ( full of spiders in balcony, Dirty sofas, Broken cups etc ) 3. Hot water supply 6-9 (am/pm) 4. Worst quality food (even i.overpriced eg Tawa Roti 50 each +tax ii. Limited breakfast option.....N B dont go by the menu provided by the restaurant. They are not providing all mentioned. ) 5.Any body hardly responds to phone calls from room
Not sure why the tag line - Luxury Hotel, is added to its name. Room Quality - Even though ee had the great view from my room but the quality of in room service was pathetic. For all the issues you have, they are to blame their vendors. Just be prepared to welcome a mice / cockroache / mosiquitoes in your room. Food (Breakfast / Dinner) - Anypoint in time you should not opt for Dinner with your hotel stay. They are not even close to what should be offered in buffet. Hopefully you would be able to save a lot by opting out and having the meal outside that could offer better taste and option. Places to visit - Apart from Nathula Pass and Zero Point, ensure you plan the day ahead by yourself. Dont depend on plans shared by tourist / travel desk at the hotel as they are making fools when taking you to place. (One day for city tour is fine)…
The rooms were in pathetic condition i.e room no 107 and 110. The tiles in the bathroom were broken. The towels provided by the hotel were dirty and were not changed till morning despite repeated reminders to the staff. Do not opt for dinner as buffy here is below standards.
