Awesome place to stay in Gangtok. Karma the host is courteous and very helpful and will guide you appropriately. Nice ambience and very good home food. Serene and beautiful full place. We were very happy with our 2 night stay over here.
Karma and his mother (and the entire family) do their absolute best to ensure a warm and comfortable home away from home. Absolutely mouthwatering food, cozy and clean rooms and the family's helpfulness go a long way to make your stay memorable. The location is thankfully away from the main streets of dirty, stinking Gangtok. Such a shame to see what the city has reduced to. The Shire is in a quiet corner but a short walk to the downtown area. Be warned though, the climb is steep and quite uphill (not advisable for very old and/or sick folk). The house itself is very charmingly decorated with plenty of old knick knacks and seating areas. The food is delectable. Mr. Karma's mother was kind enough to cook vegetarian options in the local cuisine and this was one of the…
The Shire, Homestay at Gangtok is indeed a home away from home. We were a group of three families, who cherished every bit of our stay here . Mrs. Norkey and her son, Mr. Karma have done the place very tastefully. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. We had a sneak-peak of the majestic Kanchenjunga from their garden. Kids loved the place as there was enough place to run around. On request, they served us the local cuisines prepared from the fresh organic veggies. The staff is very cordial and all basic amenities were provided. I would recommend it as a sure shot place to stay while visiting Sikkim.
Have stayed at this amazing place during our recent trip to Gangtok. We were three families with six adults and two kids. The stay was comfortable with the hosting family doing their best to provide every demand of ours. Karma the owner and his mother did their best to provide us with all the information as well as the best food. We demanded the local food in one of our dinners and aunty made a full spread and it was delicious. There is an adjoining garden area which was spacious for kids to play and us to have our morning tea. We were lucky to view kunchenjunga from the garden as a small diamond among hills . Over all an excellent choice and unforgettable memories
