My parents and i stayed at this property for 3 days in triple sharing room.room was big (35 sqm). bed and mattresses were very comfortable.linen was clean. housekeeping was very prompt in attending to every need of the guests.entire hotel is centrally ac .lobby was grand with very comfortable sitting and nice capsule lifts and rooftop pool. breakfast was veried and delicious.restaurant tulip was offering multicuisine options at reasonable rates as 20% discount was offered to house guests. no wonder that more then half of the guests were foreign nationals. . we enjoyed our stay and recommend this property.

Location: The location is in a prime location with lots of restaurants, shopping, etc nearby on the prime road running through Pondy. You can reach the beach by walking about a km if you can & spots like Manakula Vinayar temple, etc are less than a km away. Sunday market is also is walkable distance away. Though it is on the main road, hotel is not noisy
Parking: Valet parking team took care & is parked within the hotel campus. The entrance area is just adequate & and max 2 cars can be unloaded at a time.
Staff: Staff were prompt, took a excuse to attend based on first come first serve basis. Check-in was done in about 15 minutes & got support to move the luggage. In room dining was also prompt.
Room: Spacious room & bed was comfortable. Using the TV was bit of a pain. Bathroom was clean & well stocked with required items & towels. There is a swimming pool but we did not use it.
Breakfast: The food has adequate varieties. Food was tasty & despite crowd the staff were able to manage.
Overall: Pondy has a lot of hotel options nearby. This is one of the safest bet you can make in getting a comfortable stay. The hotel is suited for most type of travellers, except if you are looking for a resort. I can confidently decide to stay here next time.

Reception is dull and like not-welcome.property is good , foods are not served as your expectations and order. I repeatedly instructed the in room dinning to cook tandoori chicken in a way but they always did the same. In restaurant I returned fish biriyani as it was smelling bad. Most problematic water is chargeable. This well located good property is unable to make you feel like welcome guest.

More a two star hotel which smells of sewage. I travelled as part of a tour group, but have previously lived and worked in India for many years, and even so, I was concerned to be greeted by bare wires protruding from the ceiling and what appeared to be a non-functioning sprinkler system on the fourth floor corridor. The rooms are basic, bathroom linens threadbare and grubby and the provision of tea, coffee and toiletries is negligible. Not even a toothbrush and toothpaste. I was in a room over the main road and could barely sleep for the noise. In the morning I discovered the window was unlocked and could easily be pushed open ~ hence the noise. But a child could easily have fallen out. My request to have it locked was met with a surly response, but it was done. The food was pretty basic but adequate. The attitude to women was unfortunate and appeared deeply entrenched. I was told the hotel did not change GBP ~ only US dollars ~ in a rude and patronising manner. Despite describing itself as as a Convention Centre and four star hotel, it appears it doesn’t have a currency exchange licence. I had a drink with my evening meal, as did the gentleman sitting next to me. His bill was returned with his change. Mine was not. After asking for my balance it still remained several rupees short; which were eventually produced ~ reluctantly. My suitcases were placed upside down and back to front in my room and my request to have them righted was met with a shrug and the member of staff leaving the room. Then, whilst reading in bed, I was aware of someone trying to get into my room. The chain was on but the door was opened and ajar and a man was claiming it was his room. I assured him it was not and he went away. BUT how did some random man obtain a key to OPEN THE DOOR with a view to gaining access to my, or any other guests, room? Surely this is a major security failing on the part of the hotel. Then, at 02.30 I was woken by a telephone call, possibly from the same man, just repeating “Hello. Hello?” Solo females may well wish to avoid this hotel and it’s certainly one of the worst I have ever stayed in during my time in India.

The hotel is lavish and luxe, the location is superb, everything is close by but what ruins the experience is the dishonest staff. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted to surprise him with a cake and flowers. Usually hotels give complimentary cakes on birthdays. I was okay paying fot cake and flowers. I was told by Mr. Aneesh Kumar at the reception who sounded promising, that the bouquet of 20 roses will be 300 INR and the cake will be 300 INR too, so in total i have to pay 600 INR. I paid 500 INR as advance. Later, a bouquet with 10 roses comes with a cake (horrible) for 475 INR bill even after the advance. This was nothing, Mr. Kumar, when spoken to later, never kept his words. In that moment i decided not to trust anything they say. Then i checked all the bill diligently and found out that i was overcharged for my laundry too. They claim to be 4 star or whatever but they are cheats and liars and mind you if you are from North India, the discrimination level has no limits. Sad experience in the hotel of cheats.

Recently visited Pondicherry with family and had booked this hotel basis recommendation of a friend. This hotel has a great location and is very close to the Rock Beach (1km), Aurobindo Ashram(1.2km). Their staff is very courteous and polite. We had booked a standard double and a superior triple sharing room. The rooms are big and decently maintained the washrooms were clean and had both hit and cold water. We had breakfast included and it was good. We even had dinner at their restaurant named Tulip, there was a crab fest going on. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. I would say all good except room beds had old linen, towels in the bathroom had a similar face. It seemed as if they have been used since the French left the city. The hotel has lot of things that are positive but this is just the basic and cannot be overlooked. I hope they change their linen and towels.

This hotel lies on the north edge of the town centre and is perfect for “doing the town”. The reception lobby is a large cavernous place with eagles hanging from the roof. Check in was fast and easy. We had room 519, overlooking the northern suburbs.room was fine comfortable twin beds, all mod cons but nothing special. The room fridge was a glass door and the light stays on, all the time - had to cover it to sleep! The shower/ toilet had a glass wall!!! So you need to lower the shower blind. The drains SMELL. The breakfast and dinner buffets were rather poor in quality and quantity. The restaurants staff need a bit of training. The Marilyn bar was fine, although a bit dark in the evening . There is no garden. Overall, this is not a 4 star hotel by any means!

I generally do not write bad reviews about hotels, I usually give them praise for their efforts. However, Shenbaga hotel was very disappointing. First, the checkin experience was awful. The front desk staff Anbarasu was not even looking at us when doing the checkin, as if we were disturbing him. He was rude and unfriendly towards me. In fact, most of the hotel staff were the same, with the exception of the cleaning staff. Secondly, the amenities in the bathroom is very cheap, soap doesn’t even foam (it’s like rubber), 2 drops of shampoo, and now shower gel (so bring your amenities). The beds were not comfortable. Thirdly, the swimming pool was dirty, gym is tiny and the machines not working. Fourthly, food is not great, too spicy (even if we ask for mild or non spicy). The breakfast is very disappointing. This hotel doesn’t desserve a 4 star rating. If you want to spend a good time in Pondicherry, pay a bit more and stay elsewhere by the sea like the Promenade Hotel.

I was in room 514. It had a musty smell, a shockingly uncomfortable bed, poor linen, grey towels, no tissues, and basic bathroom amenities.
There was a desk and chair, 2 lounge chairs and a table, a small TV, and OK wifi.
Breakfast and lunch were disappointing, with Indian offerings toned down for Western palates.
This was the most disappointing of the seven hotels in which I stayed in southern India, and could in no way be considered as a 4 star property.

We were deeply disappointed with our stay at Hotel Shenbaga in Pondicherry. We had booked a triple room for two nights, our experience was far from satisfactory. Upon checking in late afternoon on the 6th of December, we were initially pleased with the cleanliness and arrangement of the room. However, our excitement quickly turned into dismay when we discovered tiny insects in the bed later that night. Despite notifying the front desk immediately, their initial denial and subsequent attempts to relocate us to other rooms with the same issue left us with no choice but to seek alternative accommodation at 11 pm. Despite our request for a full refund due to the unacceptable conditions, the hotel has only offered a refund for one night, citing our brief use of the facilities. This response is entirely unsatisfactory, given the magnitude of the inconvenience and discomfort we experienced. Overall, our experience with Hotel Shenbaga fell far short of expectations for a hotel of its supposed caliber, and their customer service left much to be desired.
