Walking into the villa feels more like walking back in time to a French estate. The staff welcome you warmly and serve you a choice of tea or coffee. They pay attention to if you come back in too hot (they then serve a local root drink to cool you down) or if you are tired (then they kindly allow you to retreat into your room). The outdoor area for meals feels like it took a page from the Secret Garden - they keep fans for cooking but with the shade you don’t even need it. The pool area is small, secluded and tranquil. We relaxed over a sumptuous breakfast every morning and never felt the need to rush or finish. The room was spacious and subtly luxurious. If I came back to Pondicherry, I would be hard pressed to stay anywhere else.

It doesn't matter how beautiful or comfortable a hotel is. What matters most are the staff and how they make you feel. La Villa is beautiful, it is chic and spacious and designed by gods and the comfort levels and competence are supreme. We still adored it, for this fifth time, for the love and care bestowed by the team, for their flexibility and joy in making you feel good and that nothing is too much trouble. From the sweet and sensitive driver, Muthu, to the ever-smiling, engaging Karikalan, adorable Mugu and Bruno and the newly appointed Ashwin and Sita, to name a few; all make you feel so sad to leave. Fabulous food gets better and better, the free mini bar is always welcome if you are staying a long way up in Bridge to Heaven. Despite worthy accolades, the ever vigilant management is always keen to improve the service and for all this we shall go back again and again and promise ourselves more time next year.

This restaurant was excellent. We had the coconut curry and it was one of the best curries we have had in India. We also had the lemon tart which was beautifully presented and had a lovely delicate flavour. Good service and a really tasty meal.

We stayed at La villa in February 23 , it was a very enjoyable experience , our room on the ground floor was excellent and cleaned well each day of our stay , The swimming pool area was comfortable, the pool water clean and perfect temperature. The food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was definitely a highlight , certainly the best that we came across in the various hotels we stayed at during our 3 week trip around India including the Leela group and Taj group. All staff were exceptional, polite and striding always to make our time at the hotel pleasant, a special mention to Shantha Raj who put who made or stay at La villa memorable.

We booked La Villa at the last moment because of its unavailability we were unsure if we could get to stay.
The helpdesk manager helped us a lot with everything including our request for booking date alteration. Located in the white this boutique hotel provides us a very personal experience. The rock beach is just 6mins by walk. La Villa has only continental food on menu but we were helped for the Indian Dining at Villa Shanti which is 4 mins by walk. When in La Villa do not forget to book for the 7 course menu for the evening. I loved the room, great service and stay. Would highly recommend Advice is to pre book atleast 3 weeks in advance. Ours was a suite room with Balcony @28000 for two nights.

I’d been considering this trip, and then Covid. But finally we made it. We stayed in Timeless, which was a beautiful room, with easy access to the pool, but with a large balcony on the opposite side looking over the garden and restaurant seating. We ate the tasting menu, which was quite simply outstanding- if I’d been presented this in France I could not have been more delighted with the food, but the price would have been >5x. Also worth mentioning the Viognier, I was a little circumspect with an Indian Viognier, but actually it was quite sophisticated, a lovely wine. Some properties leave you with a feeling difficult to put into words, this is such a place. On grey winter evenings I will remember sitting on the verandah of La Villa, discussing cricket, food and Mr. Modi with Shantaraj, and feel a little of the warmth of Pondicherry. Few properties score 5 on TA, but there is no doubt that the team at La Villa fully deserve this accolade. ,

First holiday in India after 2 years. La Villa was perfection - location, service and food. From the organized pick up at the Chennai airport to our returned trip - it was a relaxing, pleasurable place in the heart of the White Town. It was easy to spend long mornings walking the colonial streets of the town and relax in our room in the afternoon. Enjoyed the food here and at their sister location Villa Shanti! Amazing food! - good mix Indian and French. The staff were always helpful and professional making our stay. A big thanks to the staff!

Without doubt the hotel that I have liked the most in recent years. And yet, I travel a lot. A superbly restored colonial house in the heart of a lush garden. Calm and serenity in the city center. Natural materials, the preserved original plan, open spaces, generous sofas, everything invites you to extend your stay.
