We are a family of 3, a couple and a child. We booked the Promenade hotel though their website as they price matched most of the travel sites as well as provided flexibility in check in check out time without charging any upfront fee.
As requested, the hotel ensured that our to was ready by 9:30am without any extra charges. The rooms are neat and clean and overlooks the Promenade Beach.
The location of the hotel is excellent as it's right on the Promenade Beach with lots of cafes, historical sites, just a short walk away. The famous Promenade Beach is buzzing with activities which is just across the road from the hotel.
The spa was soothing and the cuisine was good but a tad expensive. The hotel arranged a tour of Auroville at a reasonable rate. The rate was cheaper than most of the travel agencies so it's recommended to go for tours with this hotel.
The true essence of Pondicherry is being in the White Town and enjoying the various French themed cafes and architecture. So This hotel is the best place to stay to get the real feel of the White Town.

Good hotel in a very good location. Got a free upgrade to a sea facing room. Excellent food and very friendly and polite staff. The property needs renovation. The real wood floor in the rooms are good but needs cleaning and polishing. They should apply PU based laqure on the floor and wooden part of furniture for a more sophisticated and clean look. The design of toilet in the room is sadly very bad. The space is cramped and the basin has hardly any counter space. Why the designer made a curved wall is beyond logic. Air conditioning is good. Wish they had provided sheer curtains to the French windows. Corridor walls need to be smoothened and painted. The silver of the mirror in the room and corridor ends have gone bad. A proper cheching and repairing /restoring the facilities are urgently required. Overall a good hotel.

Promenade is one of my favourite places to go to for an evening out with friends and colleagues. Last week we went to Bay of Buddha the rooftop restaurant at The Promenade hotel which over looks the beautiful Bay of Bengal and the promenade, and offers easily the best view in town. Though it was the first day of the hotel's reopening post the lockdown this year, the place looked great, the staff were extremely attentive and the chef personally helped us in picking the dishes according to our preferences. We were a bit apprehensive about going out, but with their multiple sanitization desks and wide spaced tables in open air, it turned out to be a very enjoyable and stress free evening. Thank you. We stayed at the Promenade for New year. The location is excellent. The rooms - flooring is wooden and it needs to be refurbished. Towels not there when we checked in . We had to call a couple of times for the towels. The spread for breakfast was not too great. Food was only average. New year Eve's dinner was very bad. Not much spread for vegetarians. The quality of food served was bad. The staff - very warm and friendly. Room cleaning was not done on time. We had to request them to come and clean up the room and replace the towels, water bottle.... The hotel needs to be painted up, lots of cracks on the wall.. Poor maintenance. It is supposed to be a 4star hotel but the standard and maintenance is less than a 3star hotel. Overall the stay was not up to our expectation. Would be great if the management looks into all this.

It is excellent property looking into location and ambience of restaurant however rooms and toilets are very small. Further floor of the rooms are wooden however it was coming out. We were told that rooms will be renovated in 4-5 months however we feel till that time they should offer 50% discount. The north staff at reception as well as restaurant was superb and good training was given to them, However other staff do not understand hindi or english. Service in restaurant is a issue, it appears that they have less cooking staff then required. Food otherwise is excellent. Otherwise location is funtastic if you are able to get sea facing room. Full praise to Mr. Sudeep, recently joined as General Manager and Mr. Bharath for guest relationship and training respectively.

Our stay at the Promenade, Pondicherry for a weekend, was a mixed bag. This boutique hotel has a beautiful location right in front of the rock beach in Pondy, and this ideal location and proximity to White town seems to be its biggest strength.
Having said that, the service and other amenities are way below par compared to other hotels. The rooms are expensive with practically no amenities provided. Bathrooms could do with better maintenance. The sea facing rooms offer s good view, but can get noisy due to the adjoining beach and restaurant below. Wifi is slow and inconsistent in connectivity. The swimming pool is slightly larger than a jacuzzi with no privacy whatsoever.
Buffet breakfast is quite nice but the A la carte menu is not great and the quality of the food isn't as good as it used to be earlier.
The biggest disadvantage is that there is no parking in the hotel for guest's vehicles! Considering that so many guests drive to Pondicherry, this is very disappointing. You have to leave your cars on the roadside nearby with no security provided. Driver's accommodation is not available, so coming with a driver is not advisable.
Overall, the cons outweigh the pros here. Would not recommend.

Stayed in a sea facing room which has this fantastic view of the Sea. Room amenities are moderate though TV channels available is poor.However what struck me was as soon as we entered we knew that the hotel was brighter and more friendly. My immediate reaction was that there must be a change on the top and I was right!! the new GM has spruced up the place and improved the breakfast and F & B is back to normal. Great Sea food and very well cooked. As usual I must single out the outstanding service of Selladurai who not only guides you on what to eat but serves it with pride and dignity. It was amazing we booked a sea view room but its not worth the amount we pay hotel needs renovation staff at the reception is not well equipped they took 30 min to allow us to check in saying guest have not left on time so they are running late and on checkout they just marked us bill of other room as room service it was very difficult to make them understand just didnt had good time spending that amount and getting such service is pathetic . They apologized to write wrong room no on bill of bay of buddha but its what experience is all about.
Pool is just average no guy to help you out with towels or anything you would need .
