We checked in to Le Dupleix along with my 2 children and were provided with a delux hotel room which can accomodate a couple with 2 kids comfortably. The hotel is a wonderful French heritage hotel and is well maintained. The thing which impressed us was the all Teak wood interiors of the hotel room - right from the ceiling to the floor all in Burmese teak wood which provided a great ambience to live and experience our stay.
The Hotel staff is very helpful in providing good advice in planning the Pondy city tour and restaurants to explore the various delicasies of South Indian, North Indian and French cuisine. An important point to mention is that - While our check out was at 12 pm our return journey was scheduled at 5:00 pm. The Hotel staff were generous to provide a comfortable place to hang around and relax for these 5 hrs for my entire family till our departure.
Le duplelix provided an excellent experience for my entire family and I would recommend this place for anyone who loves to stay in a heritage hotel like this as this hotel is located very close to all the important tourist destinations of Puducherry like - Manakula Vinayagar Temple,Pondicherry Museum,Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Pondicherry Museum, Raj Bhavan and not to forget the Promenade beach also known as Rock Beach. All of these places are walkable from the hotel.
Over all Le Dupleix provided us with a wonderful experience of comfortable family stay.

Arrived after a really tiring day of travelling from Hubli to Chennai and then by car to Pondicherry so it was very refreshing to be greeted by the delightful staff and a lovely open courtyard as we walked in. There was an initial hiccup about the room as I had booked two and they could only find one reservation but that was sorted smoothly and quickly.
The rooms are all very individual in style, keeping the feel and style of the French heritage. We went for dinner and ordered something light, which was delicious, and retired ready to take on the sights of Pondicherry the next day.
Unfortunately in the morning my friend had taken quite poorly and was unable to do anything but stay in her room. From that moment, I cannot say just how lovely the staff were. As I was now a lady on my own in a strange city, the concern over my welfare was also really quite overwhelming and very thoughtful.
The staff could not have been more caring or helpful and the maitre de was also very kind and attentive.
The food was delicious and apart from one evening when there was a rude and raucous diner (who was not a guest at the hotel, and was dealt with politely but firmly )it was a lovely place to stay.
I am pleased to say that my friend made a full recovery and now we must plan a return trip so she can enjoy Pondicherry and Le Dupleix.

We spent 3 nights in this utterly charming heritage property. Our room was fabulous, the courtyard beautiful and the overall ambience completely delightful. But what made our stay extra special was the personal attention we received from JeanMarc and his team. We spent twonights in this hotel having been assured by our Indian travel agent it was 4-5 star standard. Regrettably the first room we were given was on the ground floor corner right on the street and very noisy. The front of house manager was very accommodating and swapped us to a room on the first floor. The building was formerly a colonial French mansion which has now been converted into a “boutique “ style hotel. The stone floor in our room was so dirty we left dirty feet marks on the sheets. The bed mattress was very tired and thin. The toilet was so small that one could not close the door when you were in there. There was only a cold water tap at the basin necessitating boiling water in the kettle to shave. The breakfast was meagre to say the least with the fruit having run out on both of the days and the pastries very stale. The glass and steel sructure made for very noisy evenings from the restaurant below.

Le Dupleix..... located in white town Pondicherry is a Heritage property the location is excellent and gives you access to the Beach and nearby Cafe's It serves some amazing meals. My wife, 2 yr old and I stayed here over Good Friday long weekend, along with another family of 3. Our families each stayed in a penthouse room. The staff was exceptionally attentive and helpful. Prabhoo and his team took great care of us, everything from making reservations to chasing after our little boys. The complimentary breakfast is delicious, some of the best croissants we’ve had anywhere. The rock lobster was one of our favorite dinners of the trip. The location is very convenient to walk around French architecture buildings, visit cafes, indulge in some shopping and walk around the promenade overlooking the Indian Ocean. We went to two beaches, Serenity beach and Paradise beach, both were a short 15-20 minute drive. It was very hot so the beach trips were only for a few hours and we were always happy to have a chilled glass of beer/wine/water in the secluded bar. Comfortable hotel, good food and the best staff!

We decided to go to Pondycherry for my husband's birthday and instead of the usual hotels we usually frequented, we decided to try somewhere new to stay. Though we tried searching in Airbnb first we decided to stay in the French areas and zeroed in on Le Dupleix in White Town!! We were booking in a hurry due to last minute plans and didn't have time to go through reviews or pictures or do any thorough check. It was a complete surprise for us and we had no idea how this was going to turn out! The day we arrived and stepped in, we concluded that we made a great decision, just by seeing the place! The best surprise we could get was our room getting upgraded as a gesture towards guest!! The check in process was simple and the staff were so helpful and we were received with a welcome drink and we're on our beds in few minutes after a long travel!!
Day 1 was my husband's birthday and I had requested for a surprise arrangment for cake cutting, while I lured my hubby out of the room for a beach walk! By the time we returned, everything was arranged by house keeping staff, and the entire room was a complete surprise for him. A great dinner was served in our room and it was a good ending to his birthday.
Day 2 we had returned to the room in the afternoon after exploring Pondycherry and decided to rest before heading out in the evening. There was some drilling sound from our adjacent building and we casually mentioned it to the staff and asked them by what time this work would get completed. The staff were so courteous and decided to shift our room to another area where there was no disturbance. The best thing about Le Dupleix is that it was previously a mansion used by one of the French Governer which was later renovated to a hotel retaining the history such as the structure, wood work, doors windows but including the morder comfort amenities, so each room is unique in its own way! We got to experience different rooms during our stay!
Special mention to the chef, the food was out of the world, though a bit sharp on our pockets, but you pay for what you get and you won't regret!! The most courteous staff were Nizam, Ajith who handled the room decoration, Yamuna, Padmini and the entire staff of Le Dupleix!! Kudos to the team, with your service you are bound to attract more guests always!! We've decided to return again soon for this hospitality!!

This our third trip to the hotel. We stayed for three nights. Our stay was unforgettable in the Le Dupleix which offers a colonial nostalgia while offering all modern amenities.
What made it special was the attitude of all the staffs who were kind, caring & made us very special. Mr.Pradeep in the front office was everywhere anticipating our next move who made our stay even more comfortable. We stayed in the Suite room which was excellent. The swing near our room was awesome.
The rooms are furnished with tastefull wooden furniture and lovely old tall windows. All the furniture seems handpicked & enhances the experience.
The Governor Lounge in the middle of the property used as dining area is very unique & loved spending hours having breakfast leisurely. Mr.Nizam at the restaurant was very attentive and taken special care for us.
Each and every staff at Le Dupleix are very attentive right from Mr.Ameer in the reception to Ms.Padmini in the house keeping were too good at their service.
Literally it feels us like our second home and the trip was unforgettable.

We stayed there back in Early March on a spontaneous trip. From the moment we showed up it was absolutely amazing. The hotel is tucked into a nice little corner and build around a tree which is really cool. The main desk man, Prabhu I think his name was, was very accommodating and helped us pick a room, he let us see all the rooms and gave us the best advice on what to pick. Very nice and friendly Staff all around. The manager is super friendly and always checking in on us and had friendly conversations with us. The Food and Wine menus were great and a good time. The rooms are very well designed and modern. I will definitely be staying here again and really hope to meet Prabhu and the manager again. Would full recommend to anyone, Staying here is a great time and a great vibe all around. Thanks all the staff!

This is a place with so much possibility, and it is a little sad to see the place let down in this manner.
A historical property where no less than Dupleix, master of all of French India stayed, beautiful, spacious construction is let down by a short sighted management.
Of the the three rooms that we booked, one (the piece de resistance, the mayor’s room) seems to have some discolouration on the walls (mould?).
Another room seems to be a bathroom that is converted to a bedroom. They have plunked a closet besides the WC, and put wooden partitions besides the shower, and plonked a bed near the wash basin.
It is difficult to sleep (or relieve oneself) in a place like this, having paid good money.
We were promised a complimentary breakfast, but then told it is not a buffet breakfast (we have to go to the sister property for that).
It is painful to ask for cereals, then ask them to reduce the quantity, then ask them to get warm milk instead of cold, and then please can I get some honey to go along with this cereal please? The scrambled eggs made my made-at-home ones feel like high cuisine. Sausage was chicken sadly, the only saving grace is the bacon, which was soft yet crisp and tasty.

Hi, I don’t think the construction work nearby will be over that fast. Pls check with hotel. As for use of the pool, the hotel staff at check in actively tell you which facilities you can use at Promenade and the pool is one of them, so no worries on that front! Have a good holiday!
