in 2019 we stayed here fror 3 and a half weeks ,this time we stayed for 5 weeks ,it is a home away from home , Great value ,SPOTLESS clean and ALL staff very very helpful .The Staff team are headed up by Sam ,he is the go to person if you need any help with anything , he can organise trips ,taxis , scooter hire ,bicycle hire , in fact I call him super Sam as he is a super guy and nothing is a problem ,It is more like a hime than a hotel or guest house and it is 50 meters ooff the main shopping street ,MG street , It is also 10 mins walk to the train station and 15 min walk to the promenade ... A scooter is really the best way to see pondicherry and La Maisin Radha have 3 for hire at a great rate to guests . We took one for the entire 5 weeks and travelled everywhere on it , Some days up to 100km away other days just down to the promenade . Do your self a favour and stay here ,very early booking is advisable as it fills up very quickly ,

We stayed here three nights and it was wonderful. For starters, the owner was very welcoming and accommodating on the phone before arrival. His manager, Sam, registered us, and gave us a photocopy of a map on which he had written, and then explained to us in detail, all places of interest, including places to see, eat, go to the beach, prices of tuk tuks, and so much more. He was a font of information. Our room was actually a suite of rooms, including a little kitchenette. We also had access, as all guests do, to a common room with a little library, where we were served our breakfast (included) and could hang out if we wanted to, though we also had a little sitting room to ourselves. There is a great rooftop sitting area with shade, and unlike most hotels, they let us handwash clothes in our sinks and hang them to dry on the rooftop where they have clotheslines. Here, everything dries in the sun and sea breezes very quickly (except on the day it rained). Though this guest house is not in the French quarter (White Town), it is very nearby and we walked from one end of town to the other in all directions very easily. It was nice to be on a quiet street. We highly recommend this guest house to others.

This was one of the best guest houses I've stayed in through many visits to India. Sparkling clean and very comfortable. The owner Ravi was very welcoming and young Sam who manages the place was first class, charming, friendly and very helpful during my two week stay. High recommended and very good value for money.

Sadly I cannot recommend this place. It was the only stay during our 6 weeks in India that was disappointing and was our last stay in India. I will start with the positives, the initial welcome was well organised with Sam giving some detailed information and map. He was also helpful when we asked questions and recommendations. The rooms also have some nice paintings.

HOWEVER, there were many negatives that just got too much in the end. Firstly the breakfast which you pay in addition to your stay was really not good enough and expensive for what you get. We just got a plain omelette plus some small pieces of hard bread, jam and tea and it was 300 rupees!! Compared to our other home stays this was a joke and expensive for the price and quality.

Secondly we told them that we would have 2 children and they gave us a tiny, uncomfortable mattress to use which we didn’t and decided instead to squeeze the children in our beds. At the end of our stay they wanted to charge us for the additional mattress we didn’t use.

The last day was what really upset us. We booked a taxi to our next destination with them and checkout was at 11AM. WE had moved all of our things out of the room so they could do the cleaning and we had to delay our taxi by 1 hour so that we could peacefully finish our late breakfast and get my disabled mum ready (it takes us time to get her ready as she is a wheelchair user). Sam who was probably instructed by the owner Ravi was rushing us to hurry up and then said we would need to pay extra to stay 1 hr. In addition to this he had accused my disabled mum and sister that they found their bathroom door cracked and sellotaped and that we would need to pay for this. We were completely shocked as the door was already like this in the beginning. He later admitted that the door was broken before!! No apology from the owner or Sam for their behaviour towards paying clients. So sadly with this kind of experience we cannot recommend this place to stay.

I booked a suite room for 3 nights, it was very spacious, clean and the bed was pretty comfortable.
There was a complimentary amenity bag in the bathroom with toothpaste soap etc.
Good shower or bucket bath if you prefer. If you want a fluffy cotton towel bring your own.
Ceiling fan or a/c worked fine. The bedroom and lounge are had lovely wall paintings.
There is a rooftop covered area that was very nice, but I did not get time to use it.
The rooms are on several levels so there are quite a lot of steps.
The owner Ravi and his assistant Sam were very friendly and remembered all our names. You get an introduction to the local are and a map with places marked and on the back more information, this was very informative and useful.
I took the continental breakfast which was basic but adequate.
The location is excellent and is pretty quiet as it is down a side street.
There is a shuttle car available, we took an Uber from Chennai and that was considerably more expensive than their shuttle.
All in all a great place to stay, lovely friendly people, clean rooms, great location. I would stay again.

My sister and I stayed here for 5N/6D. We loved the facilities provided, the location and the overall vibe. The owner is very considerate and we had interesting conversations with him. Sam was fantastic and helped us out with every little detail. Definitely a 10/10 recommendation for solo female travellers, families and friends who want a secure and dependable stay with good food (if opted). Thanks for a great service!

One of the excellent guest house I visited so far! Host Ravi and family is indeed a great care takers and offer great Hospitality. Secure, neat, clean and best place to stay in Pondicherry for vacation. Up Terrace area is something Beautiful and peaceful. Every room is theme orientated and have common dining and kitchen area. Reasonable price includes AC, wifi and all amenities. Moreover, located in the heart of Pondi so can roam around city much easier. Highly recommend this place for stay when in Pondicherry!

La Maison Radha is one of the best and safest place where you can stay while at Pondicherry. Me and my wife visited Pondy for a short honeymoon. Mr Ravi welcomed us like his family and gave the best experience while at his place.
One of the best thing is they stretch out to help you taking personal care. We happened to miss a scuba diving on a scheduled date and we had to stay one day extra than our normal plan. Ravi outrightly helped us and made an arrangement for us to stay at Pondy, cos his rooms were already booked for Christmas season.
So do not have a second thought to stay at La Maison Radha. Just go ahead guys!

If you want a cheap yet clean place to stay in pondi . Go for it . The house is in the middle of a street , distanced about 1.5km from the shore . The outsides are a little typical town like , not very fancy. Okay for backpack travelers. If you are going with a family who likes some luxury please spend some more and book some good hotel . This is certainly not any lavish stay and that is why the price is alright. Location wise you would need a scooty to reach any decent place from here. If you have to climb very narrow stairs to reach any floor. And after 11pm someone switches of all the lights and its scary to reach the common room. Didnt understand why anybody would do that in a property serving the public . Wifi is poor .
My recommendation is that if you have some money and friends and not travellIng solo, go for a better place . This place is only good for solo travelers and that too for the budget.
