We are frequent travellers across the globe under the #miliandytravels on social media. We were travelling to Taj Mahabalipuram and just decided to visit Pondicherry in between our visit to Taj Coromandel, Chennai. This place was just serendipity. It has an iconic legacy to look forward to. There is history, sophistication and the property finds its detailed mention in the heritage books of Pondicherry. The food is very fresh and great on taste buds. Must try the French onion soup. We enjoyed both European and Indian dishes. There are super active and cheerful staff members working 24/7. The swimming pool is clean and great for the humid climate. The rooms are very cozy, clean and one feels like home there. All prominent eateries and cafes are near the property. Morning walks at the beach & ashram is very convenient from the hotel. The GM Mr. Arijit Dutta is a very humble & a proactive man. He gives special efforts to attend each guest everyday. The toiletries are of Kama Ayurveda and bath fittings are of Toto and Geberit. The furniture and electric fittings is vintage Chettinad style. The furnishings are very elegant and customised for them by fabonline. The crockery is elegant and from Wilmax England. They have lovely plants planted in typical leaf embossed planters of Auroville. They have happy hours and good selection of wines available. They serve welcome drinks and the reception and dining. hall desk is very attentive. Their private parking space is secured. They have netflix etc. and refrigerator in the rooms. On days when it's very sunny outside one can prefer to stay indoors without second thoughts. They have a lovely cafe like sit out for coffee &drinks. Also the bar room is spectacular in design and has an old world charm. They have spa facilities and shisha on rooftop with cocktails. We extended our stay there and will visit again for sure. Very polite and warm atmosphere made our stay memorable in this indo french regal property at Rue Saffron.

I was looking for a good place to stay at white town pondicherry and came across this hotel and booked.
My stay here was of 3 nights and 4 days. This place is centrally located and is 5 mins walking distance from the promanade beach. There are a lot of things to explore near by at a distance of 500 m or less. Museums, cafes, church, heritage town. This place will make you experience the cute Architecture and variety of food at french town.
Coming to the property ( hotel), it is well maintained in and out, there is one cafe which serves delicious Italian cuisine and soups of various types. They too have a bar. The rooms are spacious, rooms and washrooms are well maintained and well equipped. The decor will give you a french vibe and may take you back to 1670s.
The service at this hotel is commendable, staff is friendly and helpful. The chef will never disappoint you. This place too has a swimming pool where you can spend all day.
Do plan you stay here, you wont regret.

I got the chance to stay at a heritage hotel in Pondicherry's white town, Hotel Grand de Europe on rue suffren. It was a beautiful property with work of art and craft spaces out. The rooms were huge and all had shining marble floors which really gave the room a rich French look. The hotel has access to the beach very nearby. We were able to catch the sunrise.
One lovely thing about the property is the really nice staff who are always there to help you. Our daily morning breakfast was delicious and wholesome ranging from fruit juices, breads, dosas, donuts/croissant, eggs.
In the evening, I used to swim I'm the hotel's cozy swimming pool. It's always fun to take a dive there.
The hotel has a beautiful terrace which overlooks sea in the distance. It's always windy and pleasent up there and just perfect for some time spending.
I strongly recommend this hotel to everyone, if you are visiting Pondicherry then you must stay here.

It was since a very long time that we wanted to visit Puducherry had heard about the French culture here and were curious to see and experience it first hand finally we got a chance this January 2023. We stayed at this beautiful Hotel, when you see it from outside one may mistake it for a small hotel. It’s only when you enter the room you come to know how vast they are and so spic and span. Loved the decor of this hotel the beautiful swimming pool which my girls enjoyed a lot. They gave us a wonderful dining experience, especially the Pizzas were out of the world the taste still lingers on our tongue. The staff was so courteous smiling always helpful. We had a memorable stay here for two days and at the end of the trip we felt we should have stayed for another two days. Anyways the next time that we come to Puducherry will definitely stay at Grand de Europe.

We family travelled for 2 nights stay with D Europe. Superb hospitality and a very calm place to be in White Town. Welcomed well by the front staffs and rooms were so spacious.We stayed with Premium rooms and ambience it's awesome. Swimming pool is an added beauty in the centre view when you look from corridor. Cafe was having good spread of continental and Indian spreads. We gone for some continental dishes as directed by Mr.Santanu. Chef made the food to its tasty. Happy overall and valur for money. Specially we thanks to General Manager Mr.Datta and Mr.Sony and Ms.Deepti for their extended hospitality to me and family. Mr.Ranjit in Cafe was so good a person serving foods with proper attentions whenever we be at cafe. Let's says this ....We will be back with our friends and family soon.

First of all thankyou to Managers and staff at Grand hotel. All were very friendly and we enjoyed a nice time of our holiday.
Beach was walkable distance. Breakfast was very tasty but we were expecting a breakfast buffet. French cuisines were upto expectations as well as the service culture. Only thing is that housekeeping staff need to be bit more proactive.
The thing to be mentioned here is the warmth of hospitality which they are demonstrating its undoubtedly thr best in the town. All the managers are highly reachable and helpful to any reach of time. I personally came with a issue at 12 of midnight and that was been addressed within few minutes by the team of managers.Its really felt me like so royal and so pampered .Its a highly recommended one

While surfing for a place to stay in the French quarter this little gem of a place popped up. Saw the pictures the amenities the location decided to book. Right from the time of check in till check put everything was just superb and hassle free just what u need on a holiday.
This quaint heritage hotel is a mix of the old with the modern and I just love it personally. You get the feel of a heritage hotel with all modern amenities be it in room or bathroom. They have twin or double beds abd all are super comfy with a fantastic powerful a/c and a fan too.The mini open closet and a locker issomething unique with a nice sofa and table too and good size television.
The restaurant serves continental as well as some Indian fare and whatever we tried was yum. The breakfast which is part of the room deal is a good spread keeping with covid restrictions no buffet system but instead the menu for the day is on your table and you can ask for whatever you want as much as you want. To start off we had juice of the day with a yum fruit platter the bread platter consisted of freshly baked crossaints, Danish pastries, mini dinner rolls and of course toast butter jam. Cereals with milk. Eggs to order, tea and coffee too to was it down. The Indian menu would either have puri bhaji or parata or idli dosa.
The service, efficiency, super courteous staff all made our stay very memorable. Unfortunately did not have time to swim in the lovely inviting pool We will definitely be back to spend more time and unwind. The hotel is so well located that's its walking distance to the promenade, the ashram, the paper factory and other famous touristy places. Also loads of time cafes all around if u feel like stepping out for a bite.

The hotel is just walk away from the beach. The places for photography are great. The rooms are quite spacious and the amenities are good. There is a swimming pool located on the ground floor. There is an house restaurant as well. The breakfast buffet has a range of South and North Indian mix. However the options of south Indian for lunch and dinner are limited. It would be nice if the management adds one or two South Indian dishes in the menu and serve them on a need basis. Do try the pasta and toast which tasted yummy. The parking is limited , however on adjacent streets u have private parking spaces. The church and wax museum are just walk away from the hotel. The reception team were courteous as well. The bathrooms were hygienically maintained and kits provided were off good quality too. The heritage one could associate with the hotel is still maintained intact. The check in process is easy. Overall one of better options to stay and explore pondicherry with close proximity to beach. Definitely a recommendation for all. People booking through various sites, once booking is confirmed just speak directly with the hotel and confirm them upon your time of arrival for smooth check in process..

We planned an impromptu trip to Pondicherry and was looking for a good hotel in the white town, when we came across this hidden gem. It's a newly made hotel in a property that has a lot of legacy and history. The decor and architecture are perfect, rooms are large, clean, spick and span. Staffs are all very courteous and warm, we felt at home and extended our stay, GM - Mr. Dutta was very friendly and took good care of us. Food in the restaurant is awesome, the chef ensured absolute freshness and taste in all the dishes he prepared for us. Prawn vindaloo- Pondicherry style is highly recommended. Lastly, the best part is the location - all attractions, beachside promenade, famous restaurants are all in walking distance. It's a great place to stay in Pondicherry and we will definitely come back again here to stay.
