Although we enjoyed our one night stay and particularly the cuisine, we couldn't help but feel the place is in need of some updating and deep cleaning. The staff were pleasant enough as was the pool but the pictures on their website certainly don't match the reality upon closer inspection! Although the room price was average, food and drink prices are steep and service can often be slow. Bungalow designs although charming, need to be better sanitized and general facilities to be modernised and made more accessible.

The resort is a short drive through the town and down an almost dirt road. The moment you enter the resort, its quiet and with lots of lovely open spaces. The rooms are spacious. Ask for a beach facing room especially on the 1st floor so you get a pretty view. They also have rooms with small pool, but the pool is not well maintained. The front wall for the room is a full glass wall with glass door door with a gap large enough for mosquitoes to get in. So keep the curtains closed in the evenings. Even the Louvres in the bathroom window have no netting so again space for mosquitoes to get in! Poorly designed. While the room is spacious, the woodwork is getting to look old. The bathroom is very basic with a shower area and decent size counter with basin. It looks like the rooms could do with a makeover.

The lawn by the pool is large and open, good for evening events like the one we attended. The restaurant is a large open area so be prepared for mosquitoes in the evening. Food was excellent. Breakfast buffet had a lot of choice. It has a spacious bar with a great view though unfortunately we did not have time to use it.

There is plenty of parking and they offer rudimentary space for the drivers (chauffeurs) to sleep. This is a common practice in better hotels in India.

I visited the place after 6 years. Location of the resort and pool villa are excellent. We had a fantastic time at the private pool. Maintenance of the room can be far better, especially if you are charging more than INR 20K per night. They can revamp their furniture and beddings. Also, can provide modern amenities in the villa. Breakfast was good. Room service is also good and prompt.

The hotel Le Pondy is situated on the sea beach. A part of the beach is privately owned by the hotel. The last leg of approach to hotel is dirt road.
The layout and planning of building is good and rooms are spacious. We booked a sea facing room on the first floor which gave us a nice view of the sea. The furniture provided is basic but the lighting in the room and washroom is poor. The food is below average. Every dish is too spicy and has typical South Indian accent to it. The service is a notch better than the average. Overall I would rate this property as average but highly overpriced.

There is plenty of space, so you don't bump much into the other guests when moving about. The grounds are well-kept. The units have really been designed well and have a unified motif. They are also quite spacious and afford a lot of privacy. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous. The pool is big, so again enough space to avoid treading on other guests' toes.

Things that could have been better:

1. The baggage-handling process when you arrive can be speeded up; they seemed to be short-staffed.

2. The food quality was just above average.

3. Wifi did not work, as was the case with the TV (to be fair, we didn't follow up on this to get it fixed, but still).

4. The fittings/furnishings in the room could have been better (e.g. the bathroom mirror had a lot of faded spots that one couldn't see one's reflection properly).

This hotel is rather mixed with an excellent outdoor covered dining room serving an excellent range of Indian and western salads. The reception area is modern but the hotel rooms leave a lot to be desired. They are old and need refitting. The bed was most uncomfortable and hard pillows. The lock to the room almost impossible.
The hotel is behind a beach which you can walk to.
In front of the dining area is an attractive swimming pool. Basically the accomodation needs refitting to match the rest of the hotel and new beds are required immediately. Along the sides of the bed are wooden planks which are difficult to get over. The curtains are old and a coat of paint would go a long way to brighten the room. Outside on my porch the hotel are storing another bed so it all looks rather shabby.

The place is very expensive 24-25K for a villa and 11+K for the lake facing rooms.
The resort is quite big but lacks the service quality on room service, cleaning and replacing the amenities and towels in the room. We were group of 6 booked 2 lake facing villa (you can't see the lake though) and 1 luxury pool villa. The villa's refrigerator never worked properly. The villa had no wifi connectivity so resort staff got us a hotspot to get our wifi working. The rooms are pretty average in size. The villa room is big but there is very limited indoor seating arrangement, we had to pull the pool side table and chair to accommodate 6 of us for the chitchat and drinks. The pros are that beach is accessible through the resort but only from 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM. The sea was rough so not advisable for bathing. The water filter of the pool in the auto switch-offs at 06:00 PM without any advance notice. The rooms service takes ages to show up. The staff is friendly though. The airport transfer to Pondy airport costed us Rs. 14,00/- arranged through the resort. the approach road to the resort is pretty bad. the car parking is little away from resort. They have a big swimming pool and inhouse open restaurant. There was a live band performance over the weekend arranged by villa. Overall a pleasant stay because of the friends but could have been better.

Le Pondy is probably the best property one can stay in at Pondicherry. Due to thoughtful room designs, breathtaking views, nice food coupled with an awesome service experience, especially by the front manager Mr. Sandeep, we had a memorable stay. We went for 4 days & thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Their pool villas are amazing & the staff behaviour led by Mr. Sandeep's courteous behaviour floored us. We loved the experience. Equally lovely experience for Couples & groups

Le Pondy is one of the best rated/ known properties in Pondi - so we went in with high expectations.
Unfortunately, the property falls well short of expectations. We stayed there in the last few days of December and given high season, the grandiose sounding Presidential Pool Villa was priced over USD 400 per day. Given that, the value did not come thru at all.
To start with, the approach road is very poorly maintained and the property location is not ideal if the idea is to spend more time in the French Quarters and the Old Town. The beach is decent but not ‘Private’ as perceived. There was a large spillover from the nearby shacks catering to the NY revellers.
The property in itself is quite nice and reasonably well maintained ( a slightly run down version of a similar property in a leading SE Asian destination ).
The breakfast spread is dismal at best though some of the a la carte options on the Dinner menu are quite nice. The restaurant staff is pleasant though seemingly not happy which is quite different from properties where the staff of well looked after, takes pride in their work and the property itself.
The reception staff is nice though the senior receptionist had a faultless officious and non service like demeanour.
The biggest disappointment far was the Ayurveda treatment which much definitely be avoided.
The male masseuse seemed familiar to me and I realised that he was on the housekeeping staff ! The place is run down and the facility dirty and I’ll kept. Clearly, very disappointing.

A very good location, good options of rooms. The villa with pool is excellent for family. The water in pool is clean and maintained well. Pool side amenities are self sufficient. The food in restaurant has good variety suiting various palates. It has a good parking area. The beach attached to property is controlled access, with guests from property and a life guard.

It is located away from Puducherry city. It is not a problem for those with own vehicle. If you are not having your vehicle, travelling to city by cab will be a significant addition to the cost.
Few maintanence shortfall probably due to COVID.
Overall, a good destination for those with family.

No its is not a heated pool as far as I know, we opted for pool villas and those too were not heated. But yes lot of chlorine used in their pools, can easily make out.

It’s around 15 KM away from City. The preferred mode of transport will be a self Driven car however the resort has a cab facility also. This place caters for all food choices however one can eat good food in the restaurants on the MG road also
