Excellent property . Great hosts with added benefit of them staying on the premises. Quiet , quaint rooms in a well lit location . Service is unobtrusive and efficient . Very close to goubert avenue. All eateries under 10 minutes walk. Couldn't ask for a better spot.
As a Madras native I've been travelling to Pondicherry intermittently for the better part of 15 years. I've stayed in friends' houses, spare guesthouses, faux-bohemian havelis, and a smattering of Aurovillean guesthouses which ranged from ascetic to luxurious. Gratitude is by far my favourite so far. It's just off the main touristy drag, and a brisk walk from the promenade. It's also a sweet little heritage haven in which all the cozy, thoughtfully designed rooms overlook a courtyard shaded by a number of trees, including one glorious gulmohar. The staff is warm, courteous and attentive -- particularly Vidhi, the manager, whose formidable baking skills I can also vouch for. I stayed for a night this time around, but I'll make sure to tarry longer the next.
Our stay at Gratitude was absolutely memorable... the place is stunning and is extremely peaceful. Perfect place to relax, unwind, read... But our stay at Gratitude was even more memorable because of Vidhi Salla, who was so warm, and welcoming and friendly.. our experience wouldnt have been the same without her... i took back so many memories of the place.. thanks to Gratitude! Definitely visiting again :)
Gratitude is such a beautiful property..it's so calm and peaceful and such amazing staff, especially Vidhi Salla, who's the manager. Our experience at Gratitude wouldn't have been the same without Vidhi. And she knew so much about Pondy and had some great recommendations to see and do in Pondy. We had a truly memorable stay at Gratitude and would definitely love to visit again! Can't wait! PS - This is my first review on TripAdvisor and so happy that it was for Gratitude :)
My husband and I stayed at "Gratitude" in late March this year and had a wonderful experience at this beautifully restored heritage home, well-located in the French Quarter, near several good restaurants and shops and also the sea front. Our room with its high ceiling, large bed and quaint bathroom had all the necessary modern amenities, including air-conditioning. The centre leafy courtyard was lovely, the ideal place to relax and enjoy the quietness and serenity and, of course, a leisurely breakfast. The entire property oozed impeccable taste. Vidhi, the young, enthusiastic manageress was always at hand with help and advice. Her warm, friendly nature really endeared her to us. She and her equally good-natured staff-Vikram, Saranya, Shanthi and others whose names we can't…
