Gratitude, a Heritage Home hotel, garners acclaim for its pristine cleanliness and traditional charm, with its authentically decorated heritage rooms, though some guests find the space snug. The service at this French heritage property receives high marks for staff friendliness and tailored dining experiences. While some visitors feel the prices are on the higher side, the unique amenities and prime location near Pondicherry's promenade are frequently praised. However, a few guests have noted the breakfast options and bathroom amenities could be improved.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay in Gratitude heritage. It’s a little oasis and is so comfortable it feels like home.

The rooms are beautiful and the renovation has been done outstandingly, keeping true to the original architecture and design of the property. I would highly recommend flicking through their photo album of before and after photos of the properties.

The staff were incredibly kind, efficient and helpful and could not have done more to make our stay as comfortable as possible and were great for recommending things to do, places to eat and for organising taxis and rickshaws. My mother had a massage which she said was excellent as the masseuse was incredibly adaptable in the strength of the massage.

We will, without a doubt, be visiting again and recommending to friends.

All four of us fell in love with this place. The inner courtyard is so beautiful and tranquil. The home cooked food was yummy. Perfectly situated really close to Rock beach and right in the old French quarters, White town. .Restaurants and shops around the corner.Staff was fantastic.

Gratitude is a beautiful, historical and peaceful place. It has been restored in a delightful way. I loved all the areas in the house: the room, the amenities, the patio, the breakfast area, etc. Also, I loved their ideology: they are very conscious about keeping the place quiet and serene. Also, they are eco-friendly. If I had a hotel myself, I would definitely follow Gratitude's example. And, I wish more hotels adopted this ideology of respect for silence/relaxation and ecology. Thank you!

The Gratitude Heritage is a lovely ancient house, wonderfully restored.
Rooms are furnished with original period furniture and are quiet and romantic.
In the bathrooms you can find ayurvedic products.
The shady courtyard is really peaceful and there are porch swings where read a book or rest.
The breakfast is delicious.
Gratitude is located in one of the most beautiful streets in the heart of White Town.
I really loved to stay there!

Charming little heritage boutique home stay is just a few meters from the promenade. The green courtyard and friendly, helpful staff makes you feel welcome and right at home. The rooms have colonial look and feel with high ceiling and modern amenities. The breakfast is not a huge spread but is tasty with choices of eggs made your way, local dish, seasonal fruits, curd, juice, croissants and tea/coffee served at the common dinning area for all guests. There is no room service, food is not allowed in the rooms, no television and the guests are required to leave their shoes at the reception to keep the home clean - but that's what maintains its peace and tranquility.. There are several restaurants offering both Indian and French cuisines within a few meters walking distance from here. Cafes and places of interests in the French quarters or the white town area is a few minutes walk from here. Will most definitely stay here again on our next visit. A big thanks to the staff at Gratitude Heritage for making our short holiday special.

It's an awesome place. I love staying at heritage properties and this has been beautifully restored. You cannot ask for a better location than this. It is right in the center of the White Town and walking distance of the sea, the promenade, best restaurants, Aurobindo Ashram, old Church, and more. The rooms are well appointed with attached bath (sans TV but I don't think it's required. In fact it's best to be away from TV for few days). It has a beautiful swing. The place has that old world charm with French touch and very peaceful. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Ms Saranya was very helpful right from the time we booked till we left looking after and arranging everything for us from car to sightseeing. The breakfast prepared by Shanti was excellent. I would without hesitation recommend this to heritage lovers.

This is a lovingly restored old building with a gorgeous open inside space with plants and birds. Communication before we arrived was good. The room was clean and there’s was a safe. The bathroom had lovely fragrant soaps and shampoo. The beds were bullet hard and the pillows poor, having said that it was a nice room.
The staff sadly let the place down. The cook was surly and we had to ask every day for some lime to go with our breakfast tea. Every day it seemed like an effort. One more of the ladies on reception was quite rude about asking us to pay for our extra day, several days before check out. We had to pester for plug in mosquito killer. They take cases away during your stay and we had a real job getting them back the night before we left. We asked at lunch time and had to ask again before dinner and they were really reluctant to get them. Very irritating. Happily during our stay there was an Australian lady called Theresa who seemed to be in charge and made sure things happened. She Is not always there but was present for most of our stay which made it much more pleasant.
They have a massage service where a lady arrives and uses the room on the top of the building and this was truly wonderful. Not to be missed.

First off, let us apologise unreservedly for the issues you faced while staying with us. We are a bit distressed at failing to make your stay as stress free and enjoyable as possible. Our staff have been with us for a long time and being a small group generally support each other, such an incident is highly unusual. We have had a heart-to-heart discussion and initiated a re-training program based on your review which has been translated and relayed to each and every staff member. Please rest assured that we will take your feedback very seriously and ensure that our standards of service and hospitality are maintained. I decided to stay here based on the reviews and I was so glad! The place is so centrally located and we could even walk to the Aurobindo Ashram which was the farthest.

The house has a very traditional look but the amenities are extremely modern. The focus on quiet was appreciated and I was glad to not have to hear loud conversations which are now common in the hallways of most hotels. Breakfast was sumptuous and fresh. The people were very helpful especially Kurunjini! From booking a cab to facilitate our travel to Mahabalipuram to organizing an ayurvedic massage, she managed it all effortlessly.

The central courtyard is pretty with plants, shrubs and trees. Every little detail (even umbrellas) are stacked on the side.

The little homestay kind of a hotel is a beautiful experience. The beautiful rustic green courtyard, the restoration done with all local and original building material with the help of experts like INTACH(walking bare feet on the traditional stone flooring feels great), the courteous staff and managers of the hotel, great conversation with the owners, it's a complete experience. The location is just perfect. Few steps away from Promenade beach (reaching for the sunrise on the ocean is few footsteps away), right at the heart of the white town. Rooms are cosy, comfortable and thoughtfully done. I really appreciate the little details like the baked earthen pots for drinking water, the local artifacts for decoration, the old traditional furniture, the Indian scrub powder for bath along with brass bucket and tumbler (lota). We totally recommend.

Though we stayed for only one day, but it was a beautiful experience. Was transported to another world, tranquil and shaded courtyard, antique furniture, a well stocked library and indoor games room, and very courteous and friendly staff.

Also enjoyed a tasty homemade breakfast, and an ayurvedic oil massage in the spa room in the terrace.
