We stayed three nights in this well-furnished guest house run by women only. There are no signs outside so difficult for us and taxi drivers to find. The staff let you in and out. Lovely spacious and comfortable first floor room. Take ear plugs if the street noise bothers you. Good shower. Choice of Indian or ‘French’ breakfast on second floor dining area. All food is freshly cooked but service was a bit slow.
It can be expensive to stay in the French Quarter of Pondicherry- so stay at La Maison, pay half the price, and be steps away. The home is on the biggest street in town but is completely quiet when you close the door (there’s no real sign, so find it by its address). When you leave, just walk a block, cross the canal and you are in the heart of the French section. You can also walk in the other direction and head to a busy shopping area on Mission Street. Don’t miss Zuka chocolate shop and bakery on the way. The staff at La Maison are all women and highly efficient. Rooms are simple with no TV but there is a tea kettle and other amenities. Bathrooms are big and nice. Breakfast is solid and served on roof terrace. It’s quiet and serene, just blocks from the beach promenade. WiFi can be spotty but that seems to be true everywhere in India so no surprise. What a great value for your Pondicherry stay!…
It's not a legal entity. Not a single hotel board, closed doors like a home. Completely run by females who live their and are very unprofessional. It's basically a home. The room is very very basic. Much better to book an OYO at one third the price. Rooms don't even have a TV. The property has basic wooden balcony doors and windows and sleeping is impossible due to noise from the main road traffic. It's what you call a Dharmsshala. Even if they were to charge 30% of current rate, I would never recommend.
I booked this hotel after checking reviews in Tripadvisor. But unfortunately I had unpleasant stay here. Somebody has recommended to book room with balcony but I would recommend don't book room with balcony. The balcony is facing main road so vehicles honk will disturb you a lot. My room was on 1st floor with balcony. The room was stinking when I entered. The stink was of damped walls. During my stay, some foreigners were also staying in this hotel. So the care takers were giving more importance/showering hospitality to them. For example, we were served breakfast in our room only without even asking us whereas foreigners were served breakfast on dining table.
The stay at La Maison was a serene and relaxing experience. The property itself has beautiful views and very well appointed rooms. The food served was delicious. Staff was very courteous and helpful and ready to offer the best service. My overall experience was excellent and I would like to recommend for both families and couples
