This is a very old mansion converted to a residency.situated in the heart of pondicherry its conviniently located in proxinity to all that one may require to visit in pondicherry.the staff is homely yey professional and the food is authentic mish mash of french and south indian delicacies.comfortable stay at maison pondicherry. Recommend this unique experience
This is a historical place that is centrally located. It is close to a lot of restaurants and the beach promenade which is a great place to walk and greet the sunrise. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The rooms facing the street are nosy until about midnight. The onsite manager, Kamalika, is wonderful and makes sure you are ok. She can also arrange trips to various tourist places around town. The rooms are kept spotless. The matress is firm and the AC is adequate. The electrical outless are old fashioned and could use a lot of upgrade. The shower is reasonable. The best thing about this place is the South Indian breakfast freshly made by two ladies and served hot - just like home. The surrounding area is very safe to walk or jog even at night. There are several restaurants with roof top bars.…
It's a very beautyful, delicately restaured old French house and the staff does everything for the happiness of the guests. It' s a shirt way to the beach to enjoy the evening promenade to stroll through tue French Quartier nearby.
A beautiful feeling of a heritage stay. Maintaining authenticity of a heritage is a challenge which La Maison management seems to have accepted and doing total justice to it. Not a hotel its home.
A good location in Pundachery with a friendly and helpful manager, Kamalika. The breakfasts were a highlight. The cook, Annammalle was a star. Her dosa's were superb! The room was pleasant with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Centrally located in the city of Pondicherry with most tourist spots at walkable distance including the beach & sunrise. A well maintained lodge with very courteous staff, good food and very fresh fruit juices. Experienced cooks prepare breakfast. Highly recommended for all global tourist. We really enjoyed our stay with family from Canada.
We lived there and do not feel those ratings are justified. The place is poorly maintained. The rooms, unlike the photos, are dark and humid. Mushrooms growing on the bathroom mirrors! The bathrooms are small and old. Showers don’t work well. Corridor lights fall on the bed. Beach nearby but you can only dry dripping wet clothes inside the dark humid room. The staff is kind but the owner is insulting. Rude owners don’t fix problems.
The staff is friendly and helpful, but the rooms are dark, noisy a bit smelly, in need of a general refurbishment (especially the bathrooms) and the charm of the house is completely spoiled by the plastic furniture in the breakfast room. Unfortunately no pure relaxation, like they promise at their website. Even the "French" breakfast does not deserve the name! Europeans won’t be very satisfied …
The place is overpriced and regret booking it. From the pictures and the price paid, you would expect a good guesthouse with natural light, reality is that we were given rooms with no windows/natural lights, no amenities (not even simple light blankets provided), no toilet paper in the room ( had to request it each time), lizard in the bedroom, no pictures of the bathroom on the website as it’s in vey poor condition and with stains. Positive is that the food cooked by the staff was fresh and good, but only veg indian options. If you expect to charge a premium, at least have the decency to provide basic amenities and maintain it well. I wouldn’t pay more than $20/night for this again. Also the security guard was sleeping and eating on the entrance floor in the evening so not sure what kind of work conditions the owner expect from his staff.…
STAFF are really great, from manager to housekeeping to cook everyone is really amazing. It's a decent homestay to stay located in the Tamil quarters near White town within walking distance to most of the attractions and cafes restaurants of Pondicherry. The locality is very busy and congested. Rooms are good with basic facilities of a budget hotel but the price charged is much more than that hence not value for money. There's no TV, blankets are of very poor quality, mattress, pillows, towels etc are also very basic and not what I expected after paying FourK per night. Breakfast is same everyday, idli dosa sambar, they should at least provide some bread butter jam etc for people who are not South Indian and cannot have this everyday.
