This is the best of the many Ashram guest houses and also the most difficult to book. The booking process is a bit convoluted but once you succeed, the location cannot be beaten. Try and get the sea facing room. Accommodations are basic but very comfortable and functional. Staff are very warm and helpful. Wifi can be a bit erratic. Have the home style meals in the dining room. Walking distance to almost everything that is worth visiting in Pondicherry. I always stay here.

This is one of the Ashrams best guest house situated on the beach side. I took a room in the 1st floor and beach facing. You can have the sea from the bed of your room. The morning sunrise from the balcony itself. Hardly 30 meters from your room. Very neat and clean. Best location in Pondicherry. Complementary breakfast is good and never repeated during my 5 days stay. Staffs are very cooperative and helpful. Ashrams food is quite simple and healthy. The cost is only Rs 50/- per head for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very healthy diet. I have decided to come and stay here once in a year. Though bit restrictions are there, being the Ashrams guest house, like no alcohol, no smoking, no late night returning etc., but it doesn't affect us as we we are far away of these habits.

The Breakfast is complementary but lunch and dinner costs 275 per person. The food is homely and healthy. The rooms are clean.
The Sea facing rooms have great view and are spacious.

Wonderful place, lovely rooms right on the sea and good, simple breakfast options. The place is very close to the Aurobindo ashram, which makes it even more special. Uf you love peaceful walks, this is the place. It gets a little crowded in the evenings for its proximity to the beach.

Great stay, just on the promenade. Walkable distance to the market. Good bunch of options to eat nearby. Very nicely maintained guest house where cleanliness is ensured. I would like to visit again in the future. Great view of the sunrise on the sea from the balconies itself.

The place makes you feel welcomed right when you walk in. Very peaceful ambience with an Ashram feel. The property is run by the Aurobindo Ashram. Airport pick-up/drop-off can be arranged by the Guest House. The staff is amazing and wonderfully welcoming. The whole place is kept neat and tidy at all times. Went there as a family with an infant son. We stayed at sea-facing first floor room with balcony and ended up spending most of the time in the balcony rather than in the room to take in the fresh sea-breeze :-) The room is basic has a mini-refrigerator but no TV, which to be honest we did not miss at all. Hot water is available round the clock. No ironing facilities in the room but laundry facilities available at a minimal price. You are not allowed to bring any food inside the room and alcohol and smoking are a strict no-no. Moreover, this property is pure-vegetarian. Complimentary breakfast is provided. However, it is very basic. Continental food is only toast and jam/butter, eggs on order (omlette/boiled egg). Indian food is simple south indian cuisine. Please do not expect anything grand regarding food as food should not be on your priority list when you visit Pondicherry. Location is excellent as it is in the heart of White Town and close-by to all attractions. Lots of restaurants and shopping areas are within walking distance. Free wifi available (153 MB per day). Had a great time here and would love to stay here again.

The Guest House is manged by Aurobinda Society, hence the guests need to follow certain rules. Apart from specific time for opening and closing of the gate, this property does not allow the boarders to smoke or drink within the premises. The guest house is spotlessly clean, they clean the rooms twice daily, changes the linen daily. The sea-facing rooms are just awesome. The tariff includes a wonderful buffet breakfast. All important destinations are just a few minutes walk from this place. Healthy, simple, vegetarian, buffet lunch and dinners are also available on prior order. All these facilities in such a tariff plan, that too on the Goubert Road, is hard to get.

If you are looking for a neat/clean no frill property at a great price.....look no further, this property just fits the bill. Bang on M G Road facing the sea, next to the secretariat right within the erstwhile French settlement.

I happened to book this hotel for my brothers who come to Chennai every year to stay in this hotel. This year also I booked for him over phone. When wanted to check in , the useless persons in the reception asked for passport copies of my brothers family. Fortunately, I was in Chennai at my home at that time to scan and send images of passports of all the three members and sent to the mail ID they had given to me (info@seaside.aerosociety.org) . Also I had CCed the mail to my brother. I waited patiently to check if the mail got bounced. But it didn't happen. So called my brother to confirm that he could very well get a hard copy from my mail. The untrained, illiterate, uneducated, uncultured, mannerless guys refused to check mail and get the hard copies and denied to check-in. My frustrated brother, booked Jayaram hotel where a warm welcome was given with good hospitality.
Seaside management should better think to avoid appointing pet animals for their booking counters. Being a professor in US my brother has alerted his colleagues, students, friends and family members NOT to choose this hotel when they stay in Pondy.The bitterest experience for a great professor in Pondy

My travel agent had booked a hotel which we did not turn out to be good. So, in the evening while taking a stroll on the promenade I and my sister checked out a few places where we could shift. After a few disappointing places we saw, we stumbled upon Seaside Guest House. One look at the neat and clean place and we decided we have to stay here. Luckily they had a room to spare. We didn't get a sea-view room but the location of the guest house (and the food) more than made up for it. Staying here, we were able to enjoy sunrise, sunset , late night stroll on the promenade, frequent walks to the ashram, market place etc etc.
