HG Tenerife Sur Apartments offers a mixed bag of experiences, with its location near beaches and nightlife standing out as a highlight for numerous guests. While the staff's helpfulness garners commendations, inconsistencies in room service and reception have been noted. Travelers have called out the cleanliness of the premises, though some express dissatisfaction with housekeeping. The vibrant atmosphere, courtesy of live music, is popular, but opinions are divided on the hotel's value due to outdated rooms and additional charges. Concerns about room quality and amenities, particularly air conditioning and sunbed availability, are recurrent themes in guest feedback.

The rooms were basic but a good size and looked like they had been modernised recently. We had an issue with ours in that we kept seeing little flea type bugs around the kitchen area. We didn’t use the kitchen as we ate out everyday, we literally used the room as a base. Our room was very noisy off the main road. It didn’t bother us much as the kids slept through it, but can imagine it would annoy some.

The pool was the best part of this hotel. It was a really good size and very well maintained. The baby area was perfect for our toddler to play safely. My husband noticed a broken vent in the pool once day, the lifeguard got maintenance out to fix it straight away.
The life guard made a huge effort to move towels off sun beds that weren’t being used, which annoyed a few customers. We actually appreciated this and thought it was a good idea, giving everyone a fair opportunity to use a bed, instead of seeing the usual unised beds at 2 in the afternoon. You could put a towel out, but you needed to be sat on it by 10am when his shift started, not too I unreasonable I thought.

The location was great, only 10 mins walk to the beach, which had everything you could need (bars, restaurant, excursions, shops), then there were lots of places to eat nearby. We took a walk a couple of times to las Americas, which took about 30mins.

The one thing missing for us was some light entertainment for the kids, just generally being a little more kid friendly. We don’t use kids clubs when away, but a little early evening mini disco would have been nice, or some music by the pool. But appreciate its not that type of hotel.

Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat here. Thought the shop was reasonably priced.

I would have marked 3.5 if I could. It was just missing a bit of life for us. I can see why to some it would be perfect though.

Just returned from these apartments very quick check in lovely reception staff beautiful pool area. Apartment was dated but very clean the lifeguard removes towels if people aren’t on them when he comes on duty at 10 by 8 in the morning most sunbeds are taken he will remove them if your not at the sunbed by 10 he’s fair to be honest. Had a lovely holiday here but don’t think I would return especially in the height of summer over 30 degrees everyday and no air con which was a struggle the ceiling fans are just ok but at times the apartment was like a sauna maybe the cooler months they would do the job but couldn’t even use a hairdryer without dripping in sweat. Wifi is free to be honest it’s mostly non existent never worked once for me in a fortnight or any of my family a unhappy teenager that I had to buy data for twice because the wifi was so bad all in all a lovely place and lovely staff at throughout but if returning to Tenerife I would defs stay elsewhere

Really can't fault this hotel, didn't arrive until late and was dealt with at reception by a really friendly member of staff, went to the room which is slightly dated but clean and comfortable, no air con but was still ok. Our terrace looked towards the pools but far enough away that you weren't surrounded by people, the hotel cafe was opposite our room but plenty of trees and bushes helped retain privacy.
The cleaning staff were very helpful and again friendly as were all members of staff we dealt with. The rooms were cleaned to a very good standard but as mentioned a little tired in parts.
The pool area was immaculate and monitored by lifeguards who also constantly walked the perimeter cleaning and drying the floor, sun all day in the pool area.
There is a restaurant just opposite reception which has live music on a night and a pint costs 2.50 again with very friendly staff. A 10 minute walk until you hit the beach, restaurants and bars and an easy walk into las Americas or taxis are easily available.
There are plenty of shops nearby which are reasonable in price and can get pretty much everything you would need for self catering.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be looking to come back hopefully soon.

We had an excellent eight-night stay this month. We stay SC as there are so many places to eat in the immediate area and in Los Cristianos harbour area.
Check-in was flawless and we were soon settled in our room which overlooked the pool.
Our room was modern with a shower but no bath, well equipped and comfortable. Rooms cleaned daily if required, we often just had the bins emptied.
All staff very pleasant and friendly, Carlos at reception was particularly helpful and is a credit to the business.
Small shop on site for the essentials, larger HiperDino two minutes away by the bus terminal (quickest way is to turn left out of the apartments then left again). Taxi rank right outside reception and buses to anywhere in the island a two minute walk away. Bus service very cheap and efficient. Lots of free parking in the area if you hire a car.
Highly recommend Tenerife Sur as a base for exploring the area.

Arrived at the hotel and were allocated a room on the ground floor. After having some trouble with the key trying to open the door to get in we opened it to find a very dark dated apartment with a patio area that opened to the pavement at the side of the road. It was fenced off however this was not acceptable with a young family as it did not feel safe and the noise of the cars driving passed was awful. The patio doors did not feel secure. I went immediately to reception who then offered me an upgrade to a pool side room at an additional cost. I took the room as there was no way we were going to be staying in the first room . The new room was the same layout as the first it was also ground floor but felt a little more secure with it being on the inside of the hotel. It was very small dark and dated the toilet stank and the fridge was temperamental. Stayed for 3 nights until we arranged a transfer to another accommodation. It just wasn't for us the only positive thing about the place was the pool area. The sunbeds were cleaned every morning and sunbeds available as any that were reserved for a long period and not being used the towels were removed for those that wanted to use them.

Very dated room, dark and uninviting and basic. Bathroom is very small and mildew on ceilings. Run the bath and you get a lot of sediment from the pipes and it doesn't clear. You have to pay for WiFi and its rubbish. Constantly drops out so you end up using 4G data without realising it. They have a "no saving sunbeds" policy but this is not implemented. People go out at 8.00am to save beds and then dont come out till midday. Hotel badly set out for winter sun. Only half the pool area gets sun so everyone is crammed in to that area which makes the bed saving a real problem.

On the plus side, the rooms are cleaned regularly with clean towels, the beds are comfortable. The restaurant at the front is very good. Excellent value for money so although I would not stay here again I would use the restaurant.

When we arrived to check in, there was a singer and keyboard player just outside reception so you couldn't hear a thing we were being told the information by the receptionist. Also, the hotel is open at the front with no gates, so anyone can walk on site or if you have little.ones, they could walk straight out from the pool area on to the main road. We were allocated a room on the ground floor on arrival overlooking the pool which seemed good at first. Only issue with this is at night you couldn't leave any windows or doors open to let some fresh air in for security. On entering the room, we were hit by a wave of hot, sticky air, as it had no air con, but i believe some do.so bear this in mind when booking. There are ceiling fans in the room but completely useless. We ended up buying a couple of fans or it would have been unbearable. The windows to the bathroom and living room are made of glass slats that you could slide out with your hands so not secure at all. We rented the safe which is a must and its only 2 euros per night. There were a couple of wall sockets loose which wouldn't be safe if you had small children. The sliding patio doors were like old 80s style metal ones and could be tugged open, even when locked. The bathroom was poor as when you have a shower, water went all over the floor. Pool area was quite nice though and still sunbeds available up to 9am most days, but very few umbrellas available. The lifeguard will remove towels at 10am sime days if you aren't on them which is fair to me. Hotel bar closes at midnight. Food was basic take away food but okay. Didn't have breakfast so no idea if that's any good or not. Room has a microwave, toaster, kettle and hob and kitchen utensils and crockery supplied too. Decent location and about a 20 minute walk to the harbour. Plenty bars around the hotel too. The main problem was the rooms and the lack of sleep due to the heat in them which put a downer on the holiday a bit. If you're on a budget, then it's not the worst but we won't be coming back here.

We returned to the Tenerife Sur apartments for our winter break after a year of not getting away. Our stay did not disappoint and it was very pleasing to see some upgrades and improvements. The pool area had been completely renovated and lots of new Sun loungers. It certainly gave the pool area a look that a lot of bigger hotels can only dream of. Yes the pool was cold but there was a very good health reason behind that in these difficult times. I had emailed reception before travelling to be allocated the same room as I had my previous trip, and was pleased that my request was met. Room 36 in the white tower block has great pool views (as does all of the tower rooms do) and gets the very early morning sun which lasts till mid to late afternoon. The service from the cleaning staff was excellent as usual. The reception staff all very helpful , the onsite shop had all our requirements plus freshly made baguettes in the morning. After a hard difficult year our stay here ensured that all the stresses and stains were eased within moments of arriving. I will definitely be staying here again and will always recommend here to friends and family. Yes the clientele can be classed as a bit elderly but us oldies deserve our holidays too, and no matter what the younger ones say , we probably did it all before them .

We stayed at the Tenerife Sur for 8 nights. We were advised that we could also use their sister hotel, over the road, Christian Sur. It's lucky in one way that we could as it has the only heated pool of the six across the two venues. It's an absolute nightmare to get sunbeds though. There are a number of residents that stay there and seem to think they own the place. They reserve about 30 beds and actively make other guests feel bad if they get there before them. On a number of occasions they reserved in the morning and didn't turn up until the afternoon....incredibly selfish behaviour. There were other families with young children who couldn't get sun beds near the children's pool and the lifeguards weren't interested if people complained despite signs saying 'towels will be removed'.

All of the pools are too cold for children with the exception of the one heated pool. Rooms very basic and small but a good maid service. Kitchen facilities are non existent. The onsite shops at both Tenerife Sur and Christian Sur are reasonable in price and the shop at Christian Sur make excellent baguettes. The restaurant at Tenerife Sur also seemed reasonable in price and quite full but didn't eat in there. Hotels are in a good location.

Just email them your request, IE low floor(there are no lifts) not overlooking road or overlooking the pool. Quiet area . I'm not sure which part is considered main block . Room 1016 is in a good place, near reception , small ramp to room, overlooking pool on ground level. Near dining room and shop

I also had an email from Jet2 saying the work was 200 metre away. We decided to keep our booking. We are here for the rest of the week and have seen no work and experienced no noise. Glad we decided to stay here as it is very nice.
