Just came back from 14 nights. It does not matter what i say 80% of the guests have been going for years. yes it is a great family run hotel i have been to 90% of the Greek islands & never come a cross a bad Greek family. Ok the hotel has a busy main road at the front & hens, cockerels,& dogs barking all the time at back where we were could not sit on balcony to read or have a drink some guests feed the live stock. The plus side is the food is very good Would i return no
have stayed here many times top class stafs and great food cooed by the owners motker.nicos and his wife athenaare most helpfull and nothing is to much trouble try it your selves and see.top class bar with great food
We were a group of 11 aged between 5 and 77. This hotel caters for all ages. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The setting is great not too far from everything. Nikos and Athena were excellent hosts
Stayed here last year and returned to visit family this year (staying in a different hotel but visiting a few times) I'm afraid I cannot understand the fantastic reviews this place gets. We found it to be an awful place. The room was in a terrible state of repair with the tiniest bathroom ever (was impossible to shower without gettin the whole bathroom soaked in the luke warm water) there was no ac but if you left balcony door open to try And stay cool you were woken at around 3am by the loudest cockerals who didn't shut up until mid Morning! Beds were uncomfortable and furniture very dated. Food was just awful, we tried several different dishes between us but didn't once get a decent meal. We found Kalamaki itself to be a very dirty run down place, can't walk down the strip without having to step over lots of rubbish and getting constantly hassled to buy boat trips ECT.. and the smell in some parts was unbearable. The first year we found the staff and owners very friendly but this year we were mostly ignored when we visited (perhaps because we weren't staying there?) My sister, who has stayed at the rainbow for several weeks at a time for many years and considered the owners and staff there her friends, was very upset this year as she booked to stay for five weeks and had her flights arranged but shortly before coming was abruptly told there had been a mistake and she'd have to go elsewhere for the first two weeks!! Terrible way to treat a very loyal customer!! I would definitely NOT recommend The Rainbow, this year we stayed in a much nicer, cleaner and more up to date apartment for half the cost. Zante is a beautiful island in places but Kalamaki is a run down dirty dump.
Had a lovely week here. Nothing was a bother. Very clean. Pillows were hard but were swapped straight away. Sheets & towels changed regularly. Cleaners in daily. Everything you need on holiday. You can loan a hairdryer and iron if need by- email ahead of your journey. Safe hire 17 € but you get 5€ back after key is handed in. I rented additional night due to late flight. Very friendly & I felt the hotel was very secure 24/7. Pool and sun loungers clean and lovely. Would definitely recommend to anyone. You can't hear the farm at the back if you close your patio door on an evening late on contrary to what other people commented on. They even supply toilet roll for your whole holiday!Very impressed. Very central to Kalamaki. 5 mins walk to the strip/bar/restaurants. 10 mins walk to the beach. Supermarket opposite the hotel. Hired scooters from Tony's place beside the roundabout - to travel the whole of Zante. You wouldn't be disappointed here. Family ran taverna next door with bar and restaurant with big screen for the sports/music etc. Very reasonable to eat & drink. Had a fabulous holiday at the rainbow you won't regret going there!!
