Great pub/restaurant/hotel. We met another couple there for pre-match drinks, quick change then a meal in the restaurant which was great. Stayed over night and had breakfast. All excellent although I can't remember what we ate so can't recommend a particular dish, but will definitely return.

Very friendly staff and lovely old pub. We stayed in Room 1 which had all amenities but was very quirky and individual. Needed to duck a bit when going to the bathroom, and I'm only 5'4"!! Didn't eat dinner in the restaurant as we were at friends for the evening but we did manage a drink in the pub bar... More

We really enjoyed this hotel so much that we would have loved to stay longer (we tried but unfortunately was fully booked). The room was spacious and had the atmosphere we were in a little holiday flat. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious, and staff more than helpful, efficient, friendly but very professional. Breakfast was included but slightly disappointing, not... More

The Richard Onslow has a very good location in the center of the very nice little village of Cranleigh. It has a friendly staff, nice rooms, a good variety of beers and ales - and last, but not least - great food!

Without this place, Cranleigh would be a bit of a dive. Sadly there are no other decent drinking establishments in Cranleigh but thankfully we have the Onslow. Friendly staff with a burning fire. Nice. A variety of places to sit and drink.

We booked a 3.00pm table for a family Sunday lunch there was amble parking near by and the decor inside was warm and welcoming. I understand from reading previous reviews that in the past the food had been disappointing but we enjoyed a delicious roast Sunday lunch and dessert. The business has recently hired a new chef and I guess... More

I stayed two nights recently while travelling on business. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with great bedding. There is allocated parking behind the place and the location is great being on Cranleigh high street which has a good choice of restaurants too. My only slight complaint is regarding the weird smell in the wardrobe - I happened to hang... More

We originally booked 5 rooms and cancelled one a few days before arrival which was not a problem for hotel. I sent an email following a telephone conversation a good 10 days previous which was never answered so had to phone again to go through the room type for each of us. The 4 rooms were immaculate and the two... More

Easy to park in reserved parking spaces behind the Richard Onslow. Immediate and friendly attention at reception. Escorted to the room and shown round by courteous chap. The room was very comfortable and quiet, even at the front of the hotel on a Saturday night. Nice clean bathroom, with big fluffy towels and everything worked perfectly Great bar with some... More

We made the most of the late summer weather and ate here last night. Sat in the very pleasant courtyard at the back. Between us we tried peppered squid, butchers board , rump steak, fishcake, and the aubergine moussaka. All very tasty . The only reason I hold back on 5 stars is I think the food is a little... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We have ten lovely en suite bedrooms with all the little comforts you’d find at home. Each one’s newly refurbished, and simply but stylishly decorated in keeping with the pub’s age, making the most of original fireplaces, ancient beams & low doorways. Some rooms overlook the hustle and bustle of the high street, others have a view over our sunny patio hidden away at the back of the pub. We have doubles with king-size beds, twins and family rooms. There’s even a box room if you just want somewhere cosy to hole up for the night, plus a fully accessible double room on the ground floor. All of them have really comfy beds, great linen, power showers and lovely toiletries, as well as mod cons like flat-screen TV with Freeview, free WiFi and tea & coffee-making equipment. ... more   less
